Love To Hate Me

Chapter 41 - 41: The Engagement V

.....

The Love Gallery.

Forcing a smile upon her face, Olivia asked, "I saw this first, so would you kindly let go please?"

"Hmm... sorry but that's not gonna happen! And besides how do you know that I wasn't the first one to choose this gift?" Daniel said tightly gripping on to the box with equal force.

"I don't care if you did, just let go of the box!" Olivia said with gritted teeth whilst glaring at him, but it seemed to have no effect on Daniel.

"And what if I don't?" Daniel countered her with a calculative smile.

"Why you little—" Olivia had a deep scowl on her face witnessing this stubborn man's attitude.

Whenever they met, bad luck seem to like follow her like it was her own shadow.

With both sides gripping one end of the box that showcased the couple mugs and neither one of them having the plans to let go, Olivia and Daniel both engaged in a fierce battle of tug of war.

"LET GO!" Olivia commanded.

"Miss, do you have amnesia? I said I won't." Daniel opposed.

Amidst their fierce battle, the gift box on the shelf was unconsciously knocked over by the two, before it fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.

Olivia and Daniel instantly looked towards the floor and stared at shattered porcelain pieces of the mugs with their mouths agape.

Immediately, one of the employees rushed over after hearing a noise of something shattering.

"What's going on?" The employee asked the two of them who were dead silent. His gaze swept passed them and over to the shattered couple mugs.

"Oh my goodness!" He immediately knelt down to the floor and held the shattered pieces in his hand, before he stood back up again and turned around to face the two of them.

"Which one of you did this?" The employee inquired.

Almost instantly, Olivia pointed towards Daniel, who had a shocked expression on his face before he said, "Me? What so you're saying that you had no part in this?"

Olivia shrugged her shoulders and said, "This would not have happened if you had let go in the first place."

Daniel had a dumbfounded expression all over his face, before he snapped out of it and mumbled, "Goodness gracious! This woman will be the death of me."

Not wanting to deal with any of their fights, the employee sternly stated, "Ma'am. Sir. I need the two of you to leave this store right now."

"What?" The two of them stopped their quarrels and widened their eyes upon hearing the employee's announcement.

Reluctantly, the two of them left the store with no gifts for the couple to be.

.....

Present.

Soo Min and Ryan were brought to a specific seating area that was situated right in front of the stage, by their parents.

The tuxedo style sofa was quite intricately decorated with various flowers and pearls, making it stand out from the rest of the seats that were located behind it.

More guests started making their way towards their assigned seats, that was carefully planned out by Mother Song and Father Park to avoid any confusion.

Once everyone settled down, the lights dimmed and soon many family members, close relatives, and friends, all performed a little dance for the couple-to-be.

As they were watching the dance performances, the entire dance of her and Ryan unconsciously replayed in her mind.

She immediately widened her eyes and shook her head vigorously trying to shake off these thoughts.

'What are you thinking about? It's just a dance there's nothing embarrassing about it!' Her inner voice stated.

But it was embarrassing! Very, very embarrassing. Soo Min glanced at Ryan from the corner of her eyes, he seemed to be looking fine after everything, maybe she was the one overthinking it?

Shrugging of her thoughts, Soo Min continued to watch the dance, but her brain wouldn't seem to let her live in peace, because the scenes of their dance kept popping up in her mind occasionally.

.....

A couple minutes later.

After everyone performed a little dance for the couple-to-be, it was finally time for the ring ceremony.

Soo Min and Ryan were both called to the center stage where their parents awaited them with the rings, with big smiles on their faces.

After all, they were the ones who had waited for this moment all their lives: when their kids would finally be engaged.

Mother Song opened the two small light blue boxes that contained the rings, before she handed one of them to Father Park.

One was a rose gold ring adorned with a rare blue diamond that was meant for Soo Min and the other was a platinum wedding band with gold on the inside.

When Soo Min watched Ryan pick up the rose gold ring that was meant for her, she gulped.

'I can't believe this is actually happening! How did things even come to this.' Soo Min mused.

When Ryan picked up the ring, he looked at Soo Min's face where her reluctance was clearly evident.

'How could I let things come to this point?' He inwardly sighed.

"Well... go on." Father Park nudged his daughter who seemed to be in a daze.

'Well, it's too late to back out now.' She reminded herself.

Snapping of her thoughts, Soo Min picked up the ring that was meant for Ryan from the box and reluctantly extended her hand.

Ryan gently held her hand and looked at Soo Min's face again, but unlike before she looked pretty calm and relaxed, before he slid the ring onto her finger.

Soo Min grabbed Ryan's hand and pulled it closer towards her, before sliding the ring onto his finger.

A round of applause was heard for the newly engaged couple, and many people made their way to congratulate them.
