Love To Hate Me

Chapter 37 - 37: The Engagement I

.....

Sapphire Hotel.

It was a little late into the evening, with the clock almost hitting seven. All the guests made their way into the luxurious glass building which illuminated under the moon's light.

A black car stopped in front of the hotel, and soon after two men rushed over to the car to open the car doors.

As soon as the front door of the black mercedes opened, a man in his mid forties stepped out wearing a black and gold designer suit.

Then, as the back door of the car opened a young woman in a navy blue off shoulder gown stepped out, followed by another woman in a light blue gown.

Adjusting his tie, Father Park turned to his daughter with a gentle smile and said, "Well Soo Min, are you ready to go inside?"

Soo Min turned to look at her dad and nodded with a smile.

"Ahhh! I'm so excited! Come on, let's go!" Olivia, who was standing beside the father-daughter duo, happily exclaimed before linking her arms with Soo Min and hurriedly pulled her towards the building.

"Slow down! Will you?" Soo Min said but her friend paid no heed to her words and let her friend, who seemed way more excited than her despite it being her engagement, drag her inside the luxurious hotel.

.....

At the Top Floor of the Sapphire Hotel.

As soon as they walked out of the elevator, they were greeted by the reception desk employees, who led them to a giant wall with an impressive array of masks, for them to choose from to wear at the party.

Mother Song instructed the hotel staff that all the guests are to wear masks because she thought it would add a mystical theme to the engagement like in masquerade balls and make it much more interesting.

Olivia immediately let go of Soo Min's arm to choose a mask from the large assortment of them hanging on the wall.

Soo Min too walked alongside the wall checking out all the beautifully designed masks, searching for one to wear.

"Oooh! Soo Min check this out." Olivia called out to her friend and raised her hand to show a beautiful pearl white mask with silver glitter linings throughout.

"That's so pretty! Are you choosing that one then?" Soo Min asked.

"Yeah. I think it'll match well with my gown too. What about you? Did you find anything you like?" Olivia inquired.

"No. Not yet. I'm still looking." Soo Min answered before she continued to search through the endless array of masks, until she stopped at a particular one.

It was a pale silverish gold butterfly mask with black linings and white dots on the room. It stood out from the rest of the masks in both style and color, and for some reason attracted Soo Min's attention.

Her hands brushed on the rim of the mask, before she picked it out from the shelf it was resting on. Turning towards one of the attendees, Soo Min informed, "I'll take this one, please."

"Yes, of course, Miss Park." The attendee nodded.

"OMG! That mask is literally gorgeous! I'm sure CEO Song will fall flat when he sees you in that mask!" Olivia teased, but Soo Min only rolled her eyes and hopelessly shook her head in response.

After Father Park and Secretary Su picked out their masks, they made their way into the party with each of them wearing their respective masks.
