Little Terrified Bun Chapter 69
The atmosphere was awkward.
Wei Jing sat on the chair, drawing absentmindedly. He didn’t think that Xu Jiaming’s apprentice would be the melancholy prince teenager that shared the same plate of dishes with him yesterday.
What was even more awkward was that he suddenly remembered who the teenager was upon hearing the name.
Li Pei.
The person who killed, dismembered, and buried his biological father mercilessly at the age of twenty one. The one who screamed with a distorted face, ‘That man deserved to die. I don’t feel any regret for killing him at all’ when he was arrested by the police. The entire country was stunned by the incident, even calling the child a white-eyed wolf (a Chinese saying for saying that a child is ungrateful).
This news occupied the top of the search engines for many days. In the end, the teenager was subjected to a life-sentence.
Wei Jing even went on Weibo (a trending social media platform in China) to comment on the matter, as he thought that the man was indeed cruel for killing his own father; cold-hearted and cold-blooded.
Now that the time period changed from 2011 back to 2002, the man who killed his father suddenly turned into a reserved and shy teenager. Wei Jing really thought that time was a mysterious thing. It could completely change someone beyond recognition.
Just like him.
His younger self probably didn’t expect himself to betray his big brother just for more of his father’s attention.
“What happened? Did you want the eraser?” Li Pei was baffled by the child’s stare. Did he do something wrong?
“Nonono, I have an eraser here.” Wei Jing waved his hand and reluctantly smiled at the teenager.
“Oh!” Li Pei withdrew the eraser. He had good feelings towards the child; although Wei Jing dressed just as delicately as the teenager downstairs, he gave people the soft and gentle feeling like a harmless animal, making Li Pei want to hold him in his palm and kiss him.
He wasn’t someone who knew how to sweet talk. He had been wanting to chat with the child, but he couldn’t find any topics.
Inside the room, all three of them remained silent while drawing. One could only hear the sound of sketching.
The heat in the art room was very strong, and soon Wei Jing couldn’t stand the heat, so he took off his puffer coat and placed it to the side. As he turned, he saw dense sweat droplets forming on the teenager’s forehead. “Brother Li Pei, aren’t you hot? How about you take off your coat and put it in the same place as my coat?” Wei Jing tilted his head and asked with confusion.
Li Pei’s body stiffened and avoided Wei Jing’s eyes. “No...no need, I’m alright.”
“Oh!” Wei Jing, who was rejected, looked at the teenager a couple more times with curiosity, then went back to his own seat to continue drawing.
On the other hand, Xu Jiaming, who was on the other side, was attracted by their conversation. He turned his head and examined Li Pei from the bottom up. His eyebrows suddenly furrowed, and his face suddenly filled with anger, but when he saw Wei Jing with the corner of his eyes, he soon withdrew his look.
Xu Jiaming put down the drawing pencil on his hand and spoke softly, “Xiao Pei, come out with me.”
“Master?” Li Pei’s face revealed signs of reluctance.
“Come along. You don’t even listen to your master now?” Xu Jiaming scolded strictly. Wei Jing was startled by it. The Xu Jiaming that he had interacted with was always generous and gentle; this was the very first time that he had seen Xu Jiaming act with such anger.
Biting down on his lips, Li Pei put down the things he had on his hands and walked out of the art room with Xu Jiaming.
Wei Jing was extremely curious, but since the two of them avoided him intentionally, how would he have the nerve to go with them shamelessly? He wasn’t a ‘real’ child who didn’t understand the implications.
Inside the nearby study room, Xu Jiaming examined Li Pei once again from the bottom up and said, “Take off your jacket.”
“Ma...master?” Li Pei still wanted to try one last time. If his master saw the marks inside, Xu Jiaming would become so furious that he wouldn’t have the appetite to eat later.
