Chapter 14 - Acquaintances

"Hmph! She definitely has my genes for sure, her supernatural beauty came from Sera, but the intelligence you could spot within her character undoubtedly came from me" Father looking irritated, proudly exclaimed with his finger pointing to himself

Cecilia puts on a sarcastic smirk "Yeah sure, whatever you say"

'The way these two speak to one another seems to be very causal, not what I'd expect from a talk between a duke and a professor of the best academy in the country, they were more like friends?

There must be a reason my father and Miss Cecilia are this at ease when they both have distinguished status's, I'm kind of curious.'

"May I ask how you and my father are familiar with each other Instructor?" I ask seeking for more information to put my curiousness at ease

The two bickering people immediately turned to Letisha after her question was said.

The duo at first gave a confused look but then a sudden expression of understanding came.

"Oh right, you don't know about how your mother and I met Miss Cecilia don't you Letisha?" Alistair's eyes lit up as he was thinking of how they first met

"Well, when I-"

Just as Alistair was going to tell his story about how he and Seraphina met Cecilia, he was interrupted by the person herself.

"You see Letisha, I met your father and mother when I was staying in the nearby inn at the outskirts of their territory." Cecilia recounts what happens with a smile ignoring the glaring eyes of Alistair

"I was out in my carriage, travelling to the academy for my first day as an instructor, but one of my carriage's horses became too exhausted to move, making me stay a night in the inn. As I was walking up the stairs after receiving my room's key, I heard the voices of two pairs of people arguing.

I became curious of this sudden outburst and wanted to investigate it. I headed towards the direction of the noise I heard before, and spotted 2 hooded figures and some 'not nice' looking men wielding daggers facing against them.

One of the hooded figures looked to be hiding behind the other, showing that only one of them was a combatant.

The guardian hooded figure extended an arm to motion the other cowering figure to stand back as he got into his combat stance.

Seeing that the figure was ready to fight, the dagger holding enemies started rushing towards the hooded person.

Thinking the stranger would be in danger, I unsheathed my blade and almost began to rush towards the fight, but met myself with a surprise result instead.

The hooded person being unhanded, disarmed the two dagger holding men, and layed them flat on the ground.

With my eyesight I saw the movements he made with his hands, such as the split second where he cracked the wrists of the two thugs and tripped them to fall flat faced. These movements may have been hard to spot if you were an amateur, which of course I wasn't, but an impressive display none the less.

I made my way to the two figures questioning them if they were alright, and got to know them. Eventually they took off their hoods when I invited them to ride with me in my carriage to their destination, and I was surprised once more.

The two figures were your father and mother. It turns out they have been separated from their group of guards during a bandit attack. They somehow found a trail that lead to this city, but bumped into the thugs from earlier after showing a bag of gold they used to buy food.

They planned on heading to the predetermined rendezvous point they planned, which would have taken them about a week, but low and behold I became their saving grace.

As we traveled, I got to know the characters of Sera, and Alistair. Seraphina is an intelligent kind woman, while Alistair, is an expert in combat, with some idiocy mixed in. We exchanged information of each other and became acquaintances through this short journey."

'So, Cecilia was a passerby that happened to give mother and father a ride. It's hard to believe it was a coincidence for the 3 of them to meet at an unknown town in the outer area. '

As Cecilia finished her recount of what happened, Alistair in the sidelines had an annoyed expression "What do you mean idiocy? Did I not defeat them in the end?"

Cecilia scoffed at his remark replying "If it weren't for you flaunting your gold right in front of them, would you have needed to fight at all?"
