Chapter 26 - The Unintelligent Race's

The Heldan Monthly is a series of Qi ch.i.p.s released by the government of the Heldan republic every month, it contains the most important news from across the republic and is held up to a high standard.

Casmir or someone in his family normally buys this chip for the whole family to use, Casmir often uses it as he likes to keep up to date with the news. It just so happened that the most recent edition was released the day before yesterday and that Casmir went to the Communications tower today, so he decided to pick it up.

The chip contained many articles and pieces of information, ranging from a factory fire that destroyed a dozen buildings in a large town to a newly released model of vehicle.

Most of the article's were irrelevant to Casmir but there was one story that drew his attention.

Apparently activity related to ferocious beasts has been increasing around the northern area of Ellaris city, people have been warned not venture into uninhabited area's and stay on the main routes.

'Hmm.. Hiraka will probably know about this...' Casmir thought.

Casmir's uncle, Hiraka, was part of the city Guardship and sometimes needed to patrol the outskirts of Ellaris city.

Hiraka had often told Casmir about the various ferocious beasts of the unintelligent races that one can encounter outside the city.

======

An unintelligent race was a broad definition, it applied to any creature that could cultivate or had the inborn strength or abilities higher than normal creatures, collectively they are known as the unintelligent race's.

For example a horse could gain the ability to cultivate by eating something rich in Qi energy, it would cultivate by enhancing its body or any natural abilities it had.

The word 'unintelligent' was not very accurate either, creatures from the unintelligent races were sometimes born with or could gain intelligence equal to that of the intelligent races. There was a lot of debate between how to define intelligent and unintelligent races however everyone agreed that the unintelligent races could be very dangerous.

The majority, around 80% had very low level's of intelligence and simply acted like animals however because they gained the ability to cultivate, their strength increased to the point that it threatens ordinary people or even low level cultivators.

Similarly to normal creatures, there were some creatures that were docile and could be tamed or even domesticated but others were predacious and dangerous. These creatures gradually began to be separated into the docile beasts and the ferocious beasts, ferocious beasts were a big problem for many nations.

There isn't any way to get rid of them because any creature could become a ferocious beast given time, or the right circ.u.mstances. Also, even though they are called unintelligent they are known to congregate and a strong, intelligent leader can organise them into a substantial forces.

For as long as is known, the intelligent races and unintelligent races have separated themselves, they each formed there own communities and area which they claim ownership of. The unintelligent races call their home's, Domains.

Domains exist in virtually every nation, they naturally appear as beasts in uninhabited or vacant area's gain the ability to cultivate and then congregate together. As take over lands however, the intelligent races push them back, most developed nations have given parts of their lands to the Unintelligent races for them to live.

By venturing outside of these given lands without permission, they allow the intelligent race's to kill them freely, unless they display certain levels of intelligence.

However even with all the various agreements and precautions, new ferocious beasts appear and attack people. This is one of the biggest problems in the world right now and it has been magnified by the fact that the unintelligent races are immune to the lifeless plague.

Nations around the world have begun to grow wary of their old neighbours, the most daring domains of ferocious beasts have already shown signs of expansion.

The last story Casmir read about was about a family who had been attacked and killed by ferocious beasts as they travelled from their home town to Ellaris.

Casmir turned off the projection device as he thought about the story, it was a well understood fact that outside of cities and towns, you could be attacked by ferocious beasts at any time if you were unlucky.

Ellaris was in fact relatively safe because of its geographical position, so safe that it didn't need to build many defences from the ferocious beast.

There is only a small uninhabited region to the north that ferocious beasts can occasional appear from.

"Becoming a Qi cultivator will allow me to stop this kind of thing happening...." Casmir said to himself.

He became annoyed as he thought about not being able to defend himself or his family from ferocious beasts, he decided to go to the training hall and use the Life Body cycle again.

As Casmir attacked the practice dummy, he understood that it would take time for him to become stronger, he couldn't wait until he became a Qi cultivator....

======

Over the weekend Casmir didn't have much to do, he was preparing for when Rose came on Monday. Other than that, he spent as much of his time as he could practicing the Life body cycle in the training hall.

He could maintain the cycle's effect for about 25 minutes, in this period he would run, jump, kick, punch, anything to release the energy in his body.

Every time he finished a session using the cycle he would need at least 3 hours to fully recover, as long as he had enough food. The minor body cleanse truly showed its usefulness here, the first time he had used the cycle he slept for over six hours and still felt weak and exhausted.

Casmir could feel his body working away whenever he rested, his weak and painful muscle's twitched as they healed and strengthened themselves and his stomach seemed to churn like an engine whenever he ate something.

Elena would also sometime come and watch him.

She liked to spend time in the garden tending to her plants and when she was finished in the evening she would watch as Casmir, topless, would hone his muscles.

On Sunday, when Casmir had finished his training, Elena even fed him a nice meal and filled a bath up for him. Of course this was on the condition that he show her some 'love', apparently she had gotten too excited as she watched Casmir train.

It was an uneventful few days however Casmir was pretty pleased with himself as he woke up on Monday and not just because he woke up with a beautiful woman clinging to him.

'Life Body Cycle

Completion – 1.1%'

That small 1.1% was quite meaningful to Casmir, he felt happy that he had achieved it and it signified that he was making progress, he could feel that he was stronger than before.

As Casmir got out of bed, waking the sleeping angel that was Elena, he couldn't help but feel nervous towards what would happen today....

=======

'Ah.. I wonder what this Elena girl is actually like...' Rose thought to herself as she walked towards Casmir home.

It was nearly 3 o'clock in the afternoon, which was the agreed upon time in which Rose was to visit Casmir. She felt oddly nervous as she came to meet Casmir, from the short time they had spoken to each other she really connected with him.

She also liked him because of another aspect, he was incredibly suitable for her as a s.e.x.u.a.l partner.

Rose had been with a lot of men over the years, but Casmir seemed to light a fire in her that she hadn't felt in a long time.

'..mmm... No, no. Stop thinking about him, you'll get yourself in a pickle..' she thought to herself as her face became a shade redder.

As Rose arrived at Casmir's house, she felt stifled.

'Wow... he's really rich...'

Rose was aware that he was well off but she didn't think that he was, 'mansion by the park' rich.

She walked up towards Casmir's front door as she admired the house, before she could even knock on the front door Casmir had opened it for her.

He was clearly waiting for her arrival and judging by his fine clothing, he was clearly worried what she would think of him.

"Hello Rose, you can come in." Casmir said with a smile.

Rose smiled as she greeted him.

"Thanks for having me. I'm impressed Casmir, I knew you were well off but I didn't expect that you lived in a mansion, haha."

Casmir didn't even think that was important, to him this is how he had always lived, he didn't realise that it was that special.

"Yeah... Well its a nice house, plenty of rooms to live in and a nice big garden." Casmir said however he seemed to be trying to imply something as he spoke.

Casmir then brought Rose through the house and into Gloria workroom where Gloria was waiting for them.

Rose didn't understand why Gloria was there but she sat down in a chair with Casmir anyway.

Neither Gloria or Casmir spoke for a moment, they were each hoping that the other would bring up the specific topic.

Eventually Casmir sighed, he looked at Rose and spoke awkwardly.

"Ok.. Rose.. Umm.. You know how when we were together the other day I was worried that you might get pregnant..."

Rose started to get an uncomfortable feeling from the pair, but replied anyway.

"Well yes... why are you asking?" Rose said as she looked at Gloria, hoping that she would speak for the clearly nervous Casmir.

Casmir realised how nervous and awkward he was being, he forcefully told himself 'Calm down! Just tell her..'.

He took in a deep breath before he spoke.

"I want to test if you're pregnant. This is Gloria she's a class 2 biologist and can test for it right now." He said quickly as he mustered up the courage to look into Rose's eyes.

Rose frowned and was clearly uncomfortable.

"Look, I told you Casmir. That's just not going to happen, the chances are incredibly low and..."

Seeing that Rose wasn't convinced, Gloria intervened.

She stepped forward from where she was standing a calmly spoke.

"Rose. I'm Casmir's adopted mother, can you please do this for me. I'm the one that's worried about it, I know it might be a bit inconvenient but it won't take very long."

Rose wanted to reject her for a moment but after thinking about Casmir and seeing how determined Gloria seemed, she thought 'Maybe I should just put them at ease..'

"Fine... What do you need me to do." She said reluctantly.

Casmir let out a sigh of relief before thanking Rose.

Gloria meanwhile, brought over a small glass container and some water...
