Ji Zhaoyan had always had people’s eyes on him. Although he would be careful every time he went to his laboratory, he cautiously walked to 712 when there were no more people in the laboratory on the seventh floor, but he was worried about it whenever he was in room 713. He usually turned on the computer when he was idle in room 713, looked through the surveillance video of room 712, and observed what Yan Han was doing in the cage.

Most of the time, Yan Han stayed in a cage in a daze, motionless which may be related to the fact that the zombie had degenerated her basic social skills. Although Yan Han had mutated, most of her habits were still those of zombies.

At the beginning, Ji Zhaoyan would watch the surveillance video with great interest, but Yan Han in the surveillance was motionless, so he just kept watching it for a few hours, and then started to yawn boredly.

In the next two days, Ji Zhaoyan lost interest in the surveillance video and was too lazy to watch it.

After dinner that night, he laid in bed thinking about the new direction of the experiment, but his mind was messed up and he couldn’t think of anything, his eyes were staring at the ceiling. He rolled around a few times, unable to fall asleep, so he simply got up and turned on the computer to flip through the related papers.

Time always flew quickly when flipping through the papers, and it looked like it was almost 12 o’clock.  Looking at boring English papers was a waste of brain, so sleepiness came the fastest.

Ji Zhaoyan yawned several times in front of the computer page full of English letters. As soon as people felt sleepy, their thinking naturally slowed down. Just now, he had looked back and forth three times.

Thinking that he had classes and experiments the next day, Ji Zhaoyan closed the paper page and planned to turn off the computer to sleep. But when he was about to click the shutdown button, he glanced at the icon of the surveillance video of Laboratory No. 712, and he double-clicked the icon fast at 00:03.

While yawning, he pulled the surveillance video of that day’s laboratory and found that Yan Han in the cage was still motionless. Ji Zhaoyan pressed the fast-forward button while rubbing his sour eyeballs. After watching a few hours of the video, there was still nothing, and he was about to click the close button in the upper right corner. When he was thinking about it, a figure suddenly appeared on the monitor screen.

Ji Zhaoyan suddenly became energetic, sat upright, and fixed his eyes on the man in the surveillance video. The man was wearing a white coat, a mask and a hat, and was wrapped tightly, so only through surveillance video, he could only tell that the person was a man.

The man opened the door of the 712 laboratory, looked inside, and then walked straight to Yan Han’s cage.

Ji Zhaoyan’s heart fell, and his gaze quickly swept to the time under the surveillance video. At 10:45, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief. He went to room 712 that afternoon, and Yan Han was still there at that time.

At 10:45 in the morning, he should have gone to a group meeting at that time, and he happened to be away. This person really knew his schedule. In any case, he should be from the CDC.

Ji Zhaoyan continued to watch the surveillance video. The man in it walked to the zombie cage, stared at Yan Han for a while, and then left. The time of leaving was 10:56. He continued to pull the surveillance video, and there were no other faces except himself in the subsequent surveillance.

Ji Zhaoyan was in daze: Who was the man in the video? How could he have the key to room 712? He kept the two keys of 712 in his pocket carefully and never left his sight.

He stared at the computer and thought, and suddenly remembered the backup key of 712 laboratory. Oh, no, why didn’t he think of that before? All the keys of the CDC laboratories were backed up, and the backup keys were stored in the Department of Armed Forces.

Most importantly, he carelessly put the key of the zombie cage in lab 712 that afternoon.

Without time to think about anything else, Ji Zhaoyan quickly changed his clothes, opened the door and rushed outside. He went to the porch to change his shoes, but he paused. After pausing, he immediately took off his changed shoes, hurried to the bedroom, opened the drawer at the bottom of the bedside table with the key, took out a gun, and he put it into the bag.

He speculated that the man in the surveillance video was Han Chi in all likelihood. He deliberately walked to Xiao Chen before. The news said that he had caught a mutated zombie, wasn’t it just for him to transfer Yan Han to the isolation room? He was surprised that Han Chi was able to get the key to room 712. These backup keys were kept by the top management of the Armed Forces Department. Han Chi’s brother Li Nansheng shouldn’t have such a great skill to let the top management do favoritism for him.

No matter what, he needed to go to the experimental building first. When Ji Zhaoyan changed his shoes and rushed to the CDC, it was still 15 minutes before 1 am.

Han Chi happened to be at the No. 712 laboratory’s building at that time. In order to avoid people’s eyes, he bypassed the gate where security personnel were on duty and walked through the safe passage.
