Chapter - 11 || How The Hell Did This Happen?

When Alexander went to the harbor, he could not believe his eyes.

The ships that had been lined up so proudly yesterday were now floating everywhere, looking a mess.

The area was full of confused people.

The warehouses were overflowing with cargo that had been hurriedly pulled out.

"It's the king!"

"Your Majesty is here!"

When the people found Alexander, they rushed to him.

"Your Majesty, please help us!"

"There's nothing we can do."

"The most important thing for us is the ship."

There were no fatalities because of the time it took between the rocking and the sinking.

However, without the boat, all of them would have no way to live tomorrow.

They were clamoring for help, begging the Alexander to do something.

"You people do not casually approach His Majesty!"

The one who quickly stepped forward was Julius Maenber, the son of the knight captain.

He signaled his men with his eyes and put some distance between Alexander and the people.

But the people did not back down.

"You have to get close to them to get them to listen to you."

"I'm in real trouble!"

"Why does it have to be like that?"

With all due respect, a sturdy merchant of some standing came out and said,

"My name is Youssef. I am in charge of this area."

He was the head of the guild that controlled the distribution of the goods that were wholesaled to the port. Everything was quiet, and Alexander was forced to listen.

"I've heard that there have been disasters in the northern and southern provinces recently. Could it be that something has happened to the saint?"

"Are you insulting the saint?"

Julius, who believed that Natalia was a saint, could not tolerate Youssef's words, which seemed to question this.

"I'm sorry, but what happened yesterday was unusual. I can't help but feel that there is something wrong."

Youssef said, not to Julius, but to Alexander.

"It was only because the saint was protecting us that our country was at peace. It's only natural to wonder what happened to the saint now that it has been breached."

The people around began to buzz loudly.

"That's true."

"Did the saint's blessing terminate?"

"No way... That's not possible."

"But it's true. I saw with my own eyes that the ship started to move... when there was no wind."

One after another, witnesses said, "I saw it too, me too.

Youssef continued,

"I heard that the saint was not Elvira, who was a strong candidate. Does that have to do with anything?"

"Shut up! Shut up!"

"Your Majesty, please speak!"

To be honest, Alexander didn't know why this was happening.

The only reason he had come all the way here to inspect was to see how much this damage would affect the national treasury.

Oh well, Alexander thought.

'We can talk to the temple later to see if the saint's blessing was not a fairy tale.'

For now, the important thing is to divert people's minds from their immediate concerns.

"You're right to be worried."

Especially if Elvira was the real saint, Alexander thought.

—The one who was at fault was Elvira, who ran away.

The man was right.

"As the man said, the Duchess of Elvira, who was said to be the closest thing to a saint, was not a saint."

The people around him were astonished.

To those who knew and those who didn't knew, what the king said carried weight.

"The series of disasters must be the wrath of the heavens against the Duchess of Elvira for calling herself a fake saint."

The people began to fuss.

"Oh my God!"

Alexander, pleased that people's anxiety was directed at Elvira, said with a compassionate expression,

"Don't worry. The new saint is already here. In order to ask for forgiveness from the heavens, let's hold a ceremony to unveil the new saint as soon as possible."

"The new saint! Thank God."

"Long live the new saint!"

"When?"

It was Youssef who asked, suspiciously, until the end.

"Soon."

The people looked relieved as Alexander walked away.

Except for Youssef.

All the people were talking about was the unveiling of the new saint.

It's all right now.

It's safe now.

That's how it was supposed to be.
