Gu Ren meant for Ye Zhi to use the money allocated in the card. However, Ye Zhi shook her head and insisted, “No, I’d better write an IOU.”

When she said those words, Gu Ren took a deep look at Ye Zhi. A few seconds later, he curled his lips and gave a chuckle.

“You really are a surprising person.”

Ye Zhi was stunned. Her eyes weren’t playing tricks on her right? Gu Ren laughed just now? She blinked hard to confirm what she saw, but the smile had already disappeared as quickly as it formed as if it was just an illusion.

Gu Ren’s expression quickly returned to his indifferent self and his black obsidian eyes showed no fluctuations, “You don’t have to write an IOU. You don’t need to return the money back to me.”

Ye Zhi insisted earnestly, “I don’t like to owe others anything. I’ll give it back to you within a year.”

Seeing that Ye Zhi keep insisting on the IOU, Gu Ren replied, “Fine.”

Ye Zhi sat on the table with her back facing Gu Ren. She picked up a pen and paper, and wrote carefully and neatly.

When Ye Zhi was writing the IOU, Gu Ren looked at Ye Zhi’s back and his eyebrows slightly frowned. He knew it would be difficult for her to pay back the ten million yuan but she still wrote the debt note.

Gu Ren remembered that Ye Zhi never spent his money on herself before. She just bought him a Lamborghini.

Ye Zhi’s behavior was really puzzling and he couldn’t help but want to know more about her.

When Ye Zhi finished writing the IOU and turned around, Gu Ren swiftly suppressed his thoughts. Ye Zhi properly handed over the debt note over to Gu Ren.

Gu Ren stretched out his hand and held the paper in his long fingers. He didn’t specifically look at the content of the IOU in detail. He just glanced at the final signature slightly.

There were only two words, Ye Zhi. The handwriting was beautiful, elegant, yet graceful.

Gu Ren put aside the IOU and suddenly asked, “Do you need someone to accompany you?”

Ye Zhi shook her head in response, “No, it is fine, I can do it by myself.”

Gu Ren’s face was expressionless as usual. His casual voice sounded as if he just mentioned at will, “I’m just trying to help you.”

“Besides, these are all trivial matters for me. I don’t mind.”

Ye Zhi thought about it again and thought it wasn’t really necessary. After all, Gu Ren had already  helped her a lot. He had already lent her ten million yuan. She didn’t want to trouble him anymore.

Ye Zhi deliberately said, “If I really ran into some trouble, I will definitely  come to you.”

After Ye Zhi left, Gu Ren picked a phone and dialled a senior executive officer of Gu’s company, “Madam has just left the hospital. Have someone to trail her.”

The man answered, “Yes, Young Master.”

Gu Ren’s line of sight fell slightly in front of him. He asked, “How is the matter I asked you to investigate?”

Knowing Ye Zhi’s intention to terminate her contract, he had earlier sent someone to investigate Sister Zhu and her agency.

After the man said a few words, Gu Ren said, “You can use these things when necessary.”

Gu Ren pondered for a moment and opened his mouth, “Go fetch the lawyer and some bodyguards. If the Madam faces any problem, immediately  inform me.”

“Remember, it’s all up to the lady’s will.”

Gu Ren hung up the phone and looked out of the window. It was mid-summer and the air was extremely hot. The room was air-conditioned and the windows were tightly closed. However, the buzzing of cicadas could still be heard.

Gu Ren couldn’t help but pick up the IOU written by Ye Zhi. His eyes fell on it and his face remained expressionless.

Ye Zhi went to Sister Zhu’s agency with a check of ten million yuan.
