Jiang Mian entered the kitchen and saw a big fire in the wok, a lot of smoke escaping from it and it looked like her taoist father did not know how to deal with it.

She was about to help when Zuo Xingping took out a talisman and held it from the tip of his fingers. The yellow paper absorbed all the flames and smoke and turned grey. Zuo Xingping quickly crumpled the talisman into a ball, threw it on the ground and stepped on it with one foot. A faint sound was heard and when he lifted up his foot, the paper had turned to ash.

Zuo Xingping put away the vegetables like nothing had happened. When he turned around he finally noticed Jiang Mian, his hand shook and the pot fell to the ground.

“Mianmian, I…”

Jiang Mian was speechless for a couple of seconds.

“Dad, go wait in the living room. I will take care of it.”

“No, no, your wrist is injured!” Zuo Xingping shook his head with haste. His baby girl shouldn’t get her hands dirty.

Jiang Mian did not want to hurt his feelings but… “…I don’t want to redecorate the kitchen.”

Her taoist father finally understood and obediently went to wait in the other room while Jiang Mian tidied up the kitchen quickly.

In her last life, her objective had been to ascend to the Immortal realm but it was a long and tenuous road and she often needed to train.

One time, she had been severely injured and had temporarily lost her cultivation. She had then lived in an ordinary mortal village for five years. She had learnt a lot during those five years and it had given her a lot of insight; she had been able to break through the Celestial realm at once.

She took ingredients from the fridge and quickly cooked two dishes and one soup. When she brought them to the living room, Zuo Xingping showed his surprise.

“Mianmian, when did you…”

He had a hard time believing that his precious daughter who had always led a pampered life could cook dishes that would make one drool. Seeing his expression, Jiang Mian said: “I watched Aunt Liu cook, it’s very easy.”

Thinking of the disaster that had just happened in the kitchen, Zuo Xingping said nothing.

Jiang Mian ate with her father. She wasn’t very hungry and just had a few mouthfuls, most of the food going into Zuo Xingping’s stomach. After finishing eating, he patted his belly happily.

Jiang Mian took the plates back to the kitchen and to leave them for Aunt Liu to clean the next day. As soon as she walked in, something suddenly stuck on her back. She did not stop and continued as if nothing had happened.

If she had to guess, the talisman Zuo Xingping had just thrown her way was an exorcism one. Her father most likely had both been happy and wary about Jiang Mian’s behavior these past few days and her cooking skills must have been too suspicious. Zuo Xingping was a disciple of an Heavenly master after all and he felt like he had to test her somehow.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the exorcism talisman sticking on his daughter’s back. Jiang Mian did not change at all. It wasn’t that he wanted to doubt her but he was afraid something had attached itself to her, which would have explained her significant personality change. Even if he liked how she acted now, if something were to be there and harm her, his talisman would get rid of it.

After confirming everything was normal with his daughter, Zuo Xingping got up and discreetly took the paper back from Jiang Mian. She pretended not to notice and asked her father to leave.

Jiang Mian did not mind Zuo Xingping using an exorcism talisman on her. She was very different from the original Jiang Mian and if neither her taoist father nor her tyrant father had had any doubt after her soul had crossed over, it would not have felt right. And once Zuo Xingping’s doubts were gone, the other fathers should be easier to deal with.

Happy, Jiang Mian was about to meditate but as soon as she sat down, her phone rang. It was an unknown number and it took her a few seconds to answer it.

“Excuse me, are you Miss Jiang?” A polite voice was heard from the other end of the call.

Jiang Mian: “?”

“Your car is parked in the wrong place, please move it.”

A few minutes later, Jiang Mian reached the underground garage of the residence. Her parking spot was 69 but her car was on 96.

The young man that had called her seemed to be in a hurry and Jiang Mian apologized. But after getting in her car, she looked around perplexed. The original Jiang Mian could drive but she couldn’t!

Jiang Mian: “…”

She got out of the car, handed the keys to the man and gave him an innocent smile.

“Please help me move it.”

The young man: “????”

Had he won a car?

Looking at Jiang Mian’s smile, the man hesitated.

“This…”

The man looked at his car and Jiang Mian noticed someone was sitting in the back seat. The person was mostly hidden and she couldn’t see clearly.

“Wait a minute.”

The man walked to his car, gently pulled the door open and talked to the person inside.

“Sir, the lady asked me to move the car for her.”

“Hmm.” The man nodded slightly.

Jiang Mian wanted to take a peak but the car was closed too fast.

The man came back, took the key from her and moved her car. Jiang Mian waited patiently until he had parked both cars and watched him open the back door once more and help the man inside.
