Level Up! Level up! (2)

“That’s it, you should be fine now!”

Everyone couldn’t hide their astonishment as Jun-young cured the people affected by the cerebral blood mania so easily.

Even Kwak Hye-na was surprised. She already knew of Jun-young’s abilities, but she could not help but be amazed when she witnessed it again.

“Cerebral Bloodsucker popped up everywhere in this darkness, so I was forced to set up camp and wait here, but now that Jun-young Kang is here we don’t have to worry about it anymore.”

“I see, I’ll spread mana mosquito nets on everyone then.”

The team had 23 members, including Jun-young and Park Yura.

Junyoung doesn’t need a mana mosquito net, so he only needs 44 mana points to cast a 2-stack buff on 22 people.

That’s about a tenth of his total mana, so it’s not a big deal.

“Oooh, so this is the mosquito net buff I’ve been hearing about!”

“Thank you, Hunter Kang Jun-young!”

” Wow, this buff lasts for 120 minutes!”

Special Forces members seem especially grateful to Jun-young.

This is because ordinary buffers only spread buffs to hunters because they are saving mana and do not pay attention to special forces members.

But Jun-young spreads the mana mosquito net to every single Special Forces member without making any exception.

After all, they’re part of the same team.

It only costs two points of mana to cast it once, so he doesn’t need to distinguish between hunters and non-hunters.

However, there was someone who gave him a disapproving look.

“Hey, F-rank, come over here for a second.”

It’s B rank Hunter Lee Do-jin.

He’s a handsome man in his late 20s dressed in colourful clothes.

A man who looks like an aristocrat.

Of all the people who had just been cured of cerebral bloodsucker by Joon-young, he was the only one who didn’t express his gratitude.

He even wears a frown as if he’s in a bad mood.

“What’s wrong, do you want me to cast a mosquito net buff on you?”

he hasn’t deployed his mana mosquito net on him yet.

“Hmph, a mosquito net buff? I can spread my own shield to protect myself, so I don’t need it.”

“Ah. Right.”

Junyoung nodded.

There’s no point in giving a buff to someone who doesn’t want it.

But the question is, if you can put up such a shield, why did you get bitten by a cerebral bloodsucker earlier?

Was he bitten because he was caught off guard?

“Why do you think I called you here?”

Lee Do-jin glares at him.

Seeing the mocking look on his face, Joon-young felt angry for a moment, but he managed to hold it in.

“I don’t know, I’m not sure.”

“Even if you’ve only just awakened, do you not even have basic knowledge?”

“What do you mean, basic knowledge?”

“I meant that you’re using too many buffs without any basic understanding, what are you going to do when you run out of mana quickly? The only reason you’re here is because of that mosquito net buff, and what if you can’t even use that? From then on, you will be nothing more than a burden, so next time, just skip the special forces guys. It’s not worth it. Got it?”

Mana management aside, what does he mean by special forces being not worth it?

If you are going to say something like that, at least make sure they don’t hear you.

I can see the expressions on the faces of the nearby Special Forces members stiffening.

But Lee Do-jin doesn’t seem to care.

He’s treating them like they’re beneath him just because he’s a B rank Hunter.

“What’s with that expression on your face? Is this your first time in a gate? Don’t you know that mana management is essential inside the gate?”

“Of course I know.”

When raiding a gate, it is natural for hunters, regardless of their profession, to diligently conserve their mana.

However, JunYoung didn’t give the buff to everyone because he didn’t have that simple common sense.

“But in my case, it’s much more efficient to give everyone a mosquito net. Even non-Hunter Special Forces members need to be treated if they get bitten by a bloodsucker.”

A single person can be bitten multiple times or a dozen or so bloodsuckers can bite their entire body.

Each wound costs one point of mana to heal.

It is therefore several times more efficient in terms of mana management to have a mana mosquito net around everyone  to prevent this from happening.

“——.”

Dojin was speechless for a moment.

He wants to refute it, but Junyeong’s logic is correct no matter who hears it.

However, the reason he said that so confidently was because he hadn’t expected Jun-young to refute him.

Normally, when a B rank hunter gives a warning, the C rank hunters and below have to hold their tongues and accept it, even if they want to refute.

The reason is that this field is narrower than one would expect, so if one appears to be incompetent in front of high-ranking hunters, it will become difficult for them to find a team for raiding gates in the future.

But he never thought that mere F-rank hunters would say that in front of everyone.

‘How dare you!’

Except for special cases, B rank healer hunters receive better treatment in a team than A rank warrior hunters.

This is because the number of healers among Hunters is extremely small.

Because of this, healers are treated like nobility in every team.

Naturally, Lee Do-jin was also treated like an aristocrat, so Jun-young’s attitude towards him as a F rank Hunter was unacceptable.

“But do you know that inside the gate your Hunter rank is your position?”

“This is the first I’ve heard of it.”

“Then let me enlighten you. Inside the Gate, it’s a completely different society than outside. In the Hunter world a F Rank Hunter like you is the lowest of the low, at the bottom of the food chain.

A dark smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

“Let’s see if you have got this straight, then. Get down on the ground and ask for forgiveness”

“——?”

“Did you not hear me, F rank? Get down on the ground and beg for forgiveness right now!”

Although Jun-young was a weakling, he got into a lot of fights in school.

Unfortunately, many of the worst kids in the school were placed in the same class as him.

So I got into a lot of fights.

As a result, I have a history of understanding the psychology of my opponents.

Why are they arguing?

What is their underlying motivation?

Naturally, he could see right through Lee Do-jin’s mind as to what was causing him to act like this.

‘He’s embarrassed that a rank B healer was bitten by a bloodsucker and was treated by a F rank.’

In Simple words, he’s an insignificant person.

In cases like this, if you were to accept this kind of behaviour, they will think that they’re better than you, and tend to push you harder and harder.

That was the case in his school days, but Jun-young has no intention of giving in to him, even if it means getting beaten to death.

“I think we’re about the same age, but you talk a lot.”

“What? You narrow-minded bastard, get down on the ground and beg”

At that moment, Kwak Hye-na rushed over to stop Lee Do-jin.

“Stop it! Mr Kang is a specialised hunter invited by the ward office. You shouldn’t treat him lightly just because he’s a low-ranked hunter like you do at the other gates!”

Lee Do-jin glared at Kwak Hye-na.

“I was invited as well. Don’t you know that I took time out of my busy schedule because Chief Kwak insisted that we needed a high-ranked healer for raiding the gate?”

“I know, but that goes for Kang Joon-young as well.”

“What, you’re actually taking the side of that F-rank hunter over me?.

“I’m not taking sides.”

“Haha, then why don’t you raid the gate without a healer? I’ll just go back.”

Lee Dojin stormed off towards the entrance, seething with anger.

He gestured to some of the Hunters while doing so.

“Hey, what are you all doing out there? Come outside.”

Four Hunters, including C rank Hunter Lee Jun, followed him towards the entrance.

“I’m sorry, It’s pointless to raid the gate without a healer.”

“Me too.”

When the team was in danger of breaking up, Kwak Hye-na clenched her fists.

‘Ha, Lee Do-jin, that villainous bastard is causing trouble again.’

In truth, Lee Do-jin is infamous among hunters as a villain because he is known for his bullying and tyrannical behaviour, all because of being a ‘noble healer’.

If Kwak Hye-na were in charge of forming the team, she would have never called out a scumbag like Lee Do-jin.

However, Kwak Sang-woo was in a hurry when orders came down from the top to remove the cerebral bloodsucker as quickly as possible, so he invited Do-jin, who happened to have some time to spare.

I wish I could blow up his despicable face.

Without the help of a B rank healer, even if she’s an A rank hunter, there’s no guarantee that she’ll be able to kill all cerebral bloodsuckers.

‘How will I show my face to uncle now’

Her parents died when she was young and her uncle Kwak Sang-woo was the one who raised her like his own daughter.

Although she is independent now, her uncle is like a father to her.

Kwak Hye-na killed her pride and ran towards Lee Do-jin and pleaded.

“Let go of your anger, Mr Lee Do-jin. If you cooperate until the end, I will double the amount you will receive today.”

“By what authority, Ms Kwak Hye-na?”

“You don’t worry about that, I’ll even give up my allotted pay to make it up to you.”

A despicable smile appeared on Lee Do-jin’s face.

“Alright, since you, an A rank Hunter, is asking so desperately, I can’t help it, but there is one condition.”

“What’s the condition?”

“I want you to exclude that lousy F rank Hunter from the mission.”

Lee Do-jin pointed at Jun-young.

Kwak Hye-na glared at him.

“Does it have to be that way?”

“Or if he gets on his knees in front of me and begs for forgiveness, I’ll make a special exception.”

“That’s ridiculous!”

“If you can’t do that then I’ll just go back.”

Lee Do-jin really is ready to go back.

At that moment, Jun-young turned to Kwak Hye-na and said

“Perhaps it would be better for me to leave.”

“No. Why would you want to leave?”

Kwak Hye-na stopped him in surprise, but Joon-young knew that Lee Do-jin would see this through to the end.

However, he has no intention of kneeling down and catering to his demands.

“You don’t need me here anymore anyway.”

With mana mosquito nets spread on all of the Hunters except for Do-jin, they’ll have no trouble dealing with the cerebral bloodsucker even without Jun-young.

However, without a B rank healer, a large portion of the team could be sacrificed.

This is because there are a number of other star monsters in this gate that are not Cerebral Bloodsucker.

Therefore, if you have to choose between the two of them, you should go with Lee Do-jin.

The team’s leader, Kwak Hye-na, knows this of course, but she doesn’t want to send Jun-young away in such a manner

“You don’t need to do that, I’ll try to convince Lee Do-jin, just wait a little.”

“No, it’s okay. Then I’ll take my leave. Please make sure to kill all the cerebral bloodsuckers.”

Jun-young had already made up his mind, so he walked towards the entrance.

“It’s not safe to go back alone! You might get lost.”

“I’ve memorised the way while coming here. I’ll find the entrance, so you don’t have to worry.”

As Jun-young walked away from the camp, Park Yura, who had been watching this, turned to Kwak Hye-na and said.

“I think it would be better for me to go with Kang Joon-young, so I’ll go too.”

“Yes, Park Yura, I’ll leave you to it.”

Kwak Hye-na hesitated, then nodded.

At this point, even if Park Yura, a C rank Hunter, was excluded, it wouldn’t cause any problems in the raid.

* * *

Meanwhile, Park Yoo-ra was surprised to see Jun-young walking fast with his headlamp switched on.

‘There are quite a few confusing places here, but he remember the way correctly.’

If you take one wrong turn, you’ll end up in the wrong place, and in those places, there are always things like goblins and slimes lurking.

Park Yura followed him because she didn’t want Jun-young to end up in that situation.

“wow!  your sense of direction is truly amazing”

“I’ve heard that a lot before. My friends even told me that I’m a human navigator.”

“I envy you. Having a sense of direction like that is a superpower for hunters who always have to raid maze-like gates.”

Then Park Yura was surprised to see Junyoung’s expression.

She had expected him to be quite upset about Lee Do-jin, but he looked calm as if it had never even happened.

Jun-young looked around the cave as if he didn’t care about Lee Do-jin and moved in a direction other than the entrance.

“Wait, that’s not the way.”

“I know.”

Jun-young smiled and struck the floor with his trident.

“While coming here earlier, I knew there were bloodsuckers lurking around here, but I didn’t bother catching them. I thought it was more important to head towards the camp first.”

“How many bloodsuckers are there?”

“I don’t know what kind, but there are quite a lot. About five hundred?”

“Five hundred?”

Park Yura stumbles back.

“Don’t worry. We have mana mosquito nets on us so they won’t be able to bite us.”

“Still, five hundred is too many.”

She looks pretty freaked out.

“You don’t look like the C rank Hunter who wasn’t afraid of hobgoblins.”

“I’d rather face five hundred goblins than this.”

“I don’t think so.”

“Well, that’s even more terrifying.”

Fighting against five hundred goblins?

There’s nothing we can do but run for our lives.

“If you wait there for a moment, I’ll take care of it quickly and we can leave.”

Junyoung’s hand swiftly swept through the space, mercilessly attacking the tiny bloodsuckers that popped up from the dirt.

‘Kaak!’

‘Kaak!’

‘Kiaak!’

‘What the hell, they’re just ordinary ticks.’

I was excited to see 500 of them, but now I’m disappointed.

But now that I’ve seen them, I can’t just walk away.

Squeak, squeak, squeak!

Jun-young killed every last one of the ticks.

‘As expected, my level remains the same.

It seems that they don’t give experience unless they’re dangerous bloodsuckers like the Cerebral Bloodsucker.

But…

[Dark Vampire Tick (☆) is summoned].

Suddenly, an eerie notification rang out, and a tick about the size of a ping-pong ball appeared in front of Junyoung.

“That looks like a boss level tick?”

“I’ve never seen one of those before, now that the gate has evolved, all sorts of things are coming out.”

Park Yura looks nervous.

“Since it has a star, it must be a one-star monster.”

“A white star means a monster that hasn’t become a star monster yet. If it gets darker then it’ll become a real star monster.”

“Then it’s not a very strong one.”

“Still, we need to be careful. There’s no way of knowing what will happen if we get bitten by such a creature.”

But that was not the case for the natural enemies of the vampires.

“Keeik!”

As Junyoung approaches, the Vampire Tick (☆) flies at him with its mouth wide open.

Tup!

Junyoung reflexively grabbed it with his left hand as if he was holding a baseball.

Then he tightened his grip.

This was the final blow for the vampire who dared to charge at his nemesis!

Kwajak!

“Oh my God!”

Park Yura’s eyes widened in surprise.
