Chapter 3 The Tangled Up Feelings of the Ex-Girlfriend

What’s wrong with Lin ShouJie?

Xu MengMeng didn’t understand.

Even now, she was still in a daze from the words he said right before he left.

She quickly ran into the restaurant’s female bathroom, calling him several times and sending over 99 messages. All to no avail. After not getting a response, Xu MengMeng sluggishly took the subway to go back home, back to their home.

Once she entered, she reflexively tossed her shoe to the side, where there was a neatly organized shoe rack.

Usually, Lin ShouJie would have put her tossed shoe on the rack, but now, this pair of shoes just laid on the floor.

Xu MengMeng’s gilded life was only refined on the outside. Inside, they naturally had multiple fights that led Lin ShouJie to build her current lifestyle.

Of course, he had to be refined on the outside as well. How else could she brag to her best friends?

There was a time when Lin ShouJie was dismissive of this lifestyle, so he suggested that they split the chores. However, she thought that if she didn’t do them, she wouldn’t reprimand him for doing the chores poorly.

But then, they had a fight over this.

But it ended with one sentence—If I do everything myself, then what’s the point of having a boyfriend?

This sentence was her superweapon. Every time they had a fight, she cried, she would use this sentence, and she would win over Lin ShouJie.

In the end, she was successful in doing so. Lin ShouJie began to understand. They had less fights; they hadn’t had a fight for the past year.

Yeah… We didn’t have a fight for the past year, and we lived a sweet, peaceful life everyday. Why would ShouJie break up with me?

Was he crazy?

The more Xu MengMeng thought, the angrier she got. She felt as if her head would explode.

Whatever… I’m not gonna bother… ShouJie is probably just in a bad mood today…He’ll come back and apologize tomorrow…

Hmph… Though, he better not think that I’m gonna go easy on him…

Perhaps because her mind had drifted to the ways Lin ShouJie usually comforted her with, Xu MengMeng’s mood instantly improved, deciding on a bath…

However, after messing with the mixing valve, no hot water came out.

“What’s going on? The water heater should be on…”

Since the bath water was usually prepared by Lin ShouJie, she only had to step in and use it without any complications. This was the first time she had to operate the water heater herself.

Although she was following the instructions without fail, she didn’t know where the on and off buttons were.

Seeing that the bath was almost filled and that there was no sign of hot water coming out of the faucet, her already dampened mood became a frustrated, angry one.

“So annoying!” She violently smacked the water, causing the water to splash onto the floor on her.

Damn it…

Her current streak of unluckiness made her want to cry. However, it continued. As she was getting ready to grab a tower to wipe her face, her feet, clad in white stockings, slipped on the puddle on the floor.

“Ah!!!”

The next moment, her entire body slipped, slamming into the ground and her head banged on the bathtub.

Fortunately, it was a rounded-edge hollow tub, so her head wasn’t bleeding.

But there was now a bump on her head.

The sharp pain traveled through her nerves. She could feel it was already swollen. Then,  her face changed instantly and she cried panickedly, “Shou…”

Then her sentence stopped.

That’s right.

ShouJie said he was not going back tonight…

Never coming back…

He said he was going to break up with me… He was serious…

With the pain still stinging at her, Xu MengMeng realized just how shoddy her situation was. Her heart started racing, and her clear eyes began to mist.

“ShouJie… where have you gone… Please come back to me…”

Dawn Sun internet cafe. Inside the booth.

With several cans of beer down, Liang Hao suggested again, “What should we do tonight? Just drink? Or do you wanna go to karaoke?”

He felt like he should find something for Lin ShouJie to do, as drinking and talking clearly wasn’t enough to shift his mind off of her.

Plus, there were many forbidden topics at this time.

Lin ShouJie shook his head. “No, no, no, I had to accompany her to practice karaoke all the time. The thought of it makes me want to throw up.”

“Then you tell me, what should we do? You’re the boss tonight,” Liang Hao said, voice dripping with sarcasm. “Even if you said we’re gonna go buy black stockings to cover up our faces and rob the bank, I’ll go in first.”

“Okay, then you put on a pink one. It’s very seductive,” Lin ShouJie said with a straightface, and the two laughed again.

“No more jokes, seriously. What should we do?” Liang Hao got back to the main topic.

Lin ShouJie fell silent, then after a moment he opened his mouth. “I want to do something I didn’t do with her… basically anything is fine.”

“Got it. Then we’ll go explore and open this old virgin’s eyes.” Liang Hao nodded as if he understood everything now.

“What the heck? I am serious! You literally just told me to be! ” Lin ShouJie looked at Liang Hao blankly.

“Haha… okay, how about a few rounds of League of Legends? This should be fine right?” Liang Hao pointed to the computers.

“But I don’t know how to play…” Lin ShouJie said helplessly.

“Don’t panic, just pick Yuumi and hang on to me, I’ll carry you.”

“Sure, then come on.” Lin ShouJie smiled, got up and sat with him at the computers.

A minute later, the League of Legends client started, and he entered the unfamiliar home page. He found that he had very few friends except for the ones he played with in middle school. Other than those, only Xu MengMeng was there.

At first, she heard it was popular and played it with him.

Then she was so bad, she gave up straight away.

And then, she never got on her account again.

But today, Lin ShouJie found… that she was online…

What’s going on…?

Before Lin ShouJie could even collect his thoughts, she instantly sent a message, as if she had been purposely patrolling his activities.

[ShouJie, why aren’t you returning my messages? It said you were busy when I called you! Why are you doing this!? Please stop messing around and come home quickly, would you?]

“Pfft…” Lin ShouJie couldn’t help but laugh.

Please stop messing around? How interesting…

But… how did she think of looking for me in this game?

A guess?

Is she just this smart?

Lin ShouJie thought there was something wrong.

Although Xu MengMeng has good academics, she never really understood him. Plus, she had low social skills. How did she know that he would most likely be playing this game…?
