I Became the Villain’s Trainer

Alexa replied, “Yes, Grand Duke.” 

Alexa was about to walk out with Ysildus in her arms, but Carlisle called her, “Alexa.” 

“Yes?” 

“What would you do if someone tried to harm you?” 

“… Is it a situation where I know the prerequisite of his intentions on doing that?” 

“I’m not sure. What if you had no idea?” 

“Then I won’t be able to do anything until he actually hurts me.” 

“If it’s the opposite?” 

“If I knew that he’d hurt me, then I would hurt him first.” 

Alexa replied with a face that she couldn’t be taken so lightly. Carlisle burst into laughter at her unexpected answer. It’s because Alexa was looking straight into his eyes. Her gaze was as if telling him, ‘I saved you, so it wouldn’t be hard for me to take that life.’ It contains a warning that if Carlisle kept on trying to play with Alexa’s life, he might be the next. 

Carlisle gestured to Alexa, meaning she could go now. Alexa nodded and left the Endeltherium. 

‘… You don’t think you made any mistake, right?’ 

Perhaps everything seems alright, as Carlisle laughed again. But she really had no idea what happened there. Alexa tilted her head and buried it on Ysildus’ hanging head. As if all of his energy had been exhausted, Ysildus’ breathing tickled her ears as he continued sleeping. She was embarrassed by the unknown situation she was in, but she was relieved that Ysildus was calmly waiting by her side. 

Alexa stared at Ysildus before asking him a question, “Ysildus, what happened yesterday?” 

Of course, there was no answer from the sleeping Ysildus.

“Grand Duchess.” 

Alexa’s eyes widened. [Carlisle] said that Essellia would be waiting for Alexa. To think that the hard-working woman was renovating Alexa’s bedroom. Especially on the balcony, the railings were all torn down, and she couldn’t figure out why. 

“Ah, Alexa. Are you feeling alright?” 

“I’m alright apart from feeling a little stiff…. But, may I ask what you are doing now?” 

“Putting up a glass on the balcony is under construction. Wouldn’t a balcony like that less dangerous for someone like you who’s weak?” 

Essellia smiles brightly. Alexa tilted her head. Essellia must have a reason for doing so, but she has no idea what it was. 

“They said the project will be finished soon. They said that the inside wouldn’t matter as it would only be done outside. If you want, I can find another room for you to stay in the meantime.” 

“It’s alright, Grand Duchess.” 

There was no need to go that far. Essellia approached Alexa and Ysildus. She then patted Ysildus’ head and smiled softly. Her blue eyes were curved as thin as a bow. Even though her eyes were the same as Carlisle’s, it gave out exactly different feelings. Visten told her that Essellia was a scary person, but she doesn’t look like that at all. 

Alexa softly blinked her eyes. 

“Do you remember what happened yesterday?” 

“I don’t remember anything. Why did I wake up in that place? By any chance, did you know what happened to me?” 

Essellia stared at Alexa’s small face. Carlisle told her to keep her mouth shut about what happened yesterday. She wanted to banish the horrible Selina out of the Thersion right away, but she had no choice but to listen to Carlisle. 

Carlisle was the Head of Thersion and the King of the Clan before he was Essellia’s husband. No matter how much he called her ‘Essellia,’ (or by her name) she couldn’t disobey his order. Essellia shook her head. Even though she had been beside Carlisle all her life, she had no idea what he was thinking. 

“I have no idea. Ysildus just brought you there.” 

“… I see.” 

Alexa accepted that without any hesitation. Only Ysildus would know what happened yesterday, but the little wolf cub was fast asleep. Besides, he couldn’t speak…. 

‘Ah, this is so frustrating!’ 

Carlisle isn’t a person who makes a move without any purpose, so the questions he asked Alexa must have meant something. 

‘What on earth really happened?’ 

Who would want to harm Alexa? Was there such a person in this mansion? Of course. Not everyone likes Alexa and there could be someone who has ill intentions towards her. But for some reason, the thought that there really could be someone like that makes her feel down. 

What was I expecting? The foolish belief that everyone inside Thersion loves Alexa? Alexa shook her head quickly. That’s ridiculous. Alexa, don’t you know best that such a fairy tale story only exists in stories? 

This is a world full of betrayal and pain, and it was much easier to speak ill of others than to love. Although she was very much loved in this place, there were also those who showed her spite. 

‘Selina… is it you?’ 

Alexa looked around the room. She still had no idea what happened. There was just this something – she knew that something happened that she must remember. 

‘That’s okay, Alexa.’ 

Nothing happened to Alexa. The future to come is more important than the past that had already passed. A future that has gone wrong and can no longer be predicted. The female lead hasn’t been decided yet.

Selina bit her nails. I thought she was dead. If she was human, she couldn’t have survived when she fell from that height. Even if she did survive she couldn’t be that unscathed. It was after she had finished all the experiments and housekeeping. Even before she was sold, she had seen a child die after falling from that height. 

‘Was I too impatient?’ 

Selina paced around her room. She stood up with a light heart and headed to Alexa’s room. She was anticipating watching those who cared for her cry. However, Alexa was standing inside her room unscathed with Ysildus. And the eyes of the Grand Duchess as she looked at Selina… and the sudden balcony construction. 

‘Does she know?’ 

She couldn’t have asked her for an answer to that question, so she was left with a beating heart. Selina could read the hostility and intent to kill as the Grand Duchess looked at her. Anyway, I was lucky. Though I didn’t know Alexa would be alive and well…. 

‘There will be another opportunity next time.’ 

She was hasty this time and was impatient. Next time, she just needs to be more cautious. Selina took a deep breath. If the time came that Alexa remembered everything that had happened yesterday and told it to others, she would already be dead. After trying to harm Alexa, whom they cherished so much, how could she be spared? But Alexa would have all of her memories about her (Selina) forgotten. Just in case, she had and burned the potion for losing memory. 

Selina let out a sigh and slumped back on the bed. She felt her stomach twisted at the thought of seeing that bad luck again. Selina pouted her lips and laid back. She was in a good mood when she fell asleep last night, but she is in a mess now. 

‘What a lucky wench.’ 

I don’t know how you managed to survive that height, but you won’t be able to hope to have the same luck next time.

Just as Alexa, Terrun and Ysildus finished breakfast, Essellia took the children to visit Karrolf’s clinic. Karrolf had to drop everything he was working on and run to see the children. It was for Alexa losing her memory, and Ysildus for having an incomplete awakening. It was clear that they are in a more urgent situation than the patient that came in the morning with a headache. 

After the treatment, Essellia sent Alexa, Terrun and Ysildus out of the room, saying that she had something to tell Karrolf. 

“How is Alexa?”

“She is in a good condition without any particular injuries.” 

“That’s a relief.” 

Essellia let out a sigh. If Alexa had any injuries, then she would break Selina’s neck, even if it means disobeying Carlisle’s orders. Essellia’s eyes darkened. Carlisle insisted on keeping both Selina and Alexa alive as they have usefulness. But for Essellia, Ysildus came first over their usefulness. 

Ysildus was awakened by Alexa. That child became Ysildus’ companion. Being a companion means that they now share a destiny. From now on, if Alexa gets hurt, Ysildus will get hurt, and if Alexa dies, Ysildus will suffer damage. It was as dangerous for a wolf to choose a companion – Alexa became Ysildus’ life. 

“Are there any problems with Ysildus?” 

“Nothing. Fortunately, his bones are intact, and he had no bruises. He may sleep a lot for a while due to the repercussions of having incomplete awakening.”
