I Became A System

Chapter 53 - Evaluation: Duel

"You want to fight me? Miss wealthy girl, don't be too confident of yourself. You don't know me." The adventurer sneered.

"Well, I am not overconfident. I want a fair evaluation. Since everyone is here, perhaps there are interested to be a witness." Ellen answered, then looked at the bystander adventurers who were watching the whole scene.

Startled by Ellena's sweet smile, and even slightly blushing, they agreed.

"Of course! Who wouldn't want to see a fight."

"Is it sword fight, or arm wrestling?"

"Stupid! It's an evaluation not for betting. Scram!"

The adventurers around started talking with excitement. Whispering of the event, they appeared to be interested in the upcoming duel.

It is common for fellow adventurers to fight, but having a duel for evaluation, it's not common.

The staff agreed with Ellena, since it is fair, they moved then prepared for it. They can't ignore this since a huge bag of materials is on the line. If they can't have the proper party feel fair, they would be punished for not doing their job.

The adventurer, on the other hand, gritted his teeth; incapable of mocking Ellena once more. However, since he got some confidence in being a Silver Ranker, he lifted his chest.

'There's no way I'm going to be defeated by a child.' He hissed.

Aaron who just laughed at the event rested on Ellena's shoulder.

"You surprised me. I didn't think you would choose an aggressive way." He remarked, looking at Ellena from the corner of his eyes.

Ellena heard Aaron's words. As an instinct, she looked at him by her peripheral view. 'Don't treat me as my old self, Aaron. I have matured slightly.'

"Okay. Even though there's no matured who calls themselves matured, I believe you for that since you deserve it." He said teasingly.

'Ugh. Come on. Can't you even support me for once?' She grumbled to Aaron's tease.

"Yeah, sure. I will support you since it was your decision."

'Tsk.'

Moments later, a staff came back reporting that they prepared the training ground for them.

The ground will be their ring for the duel, excitedly, Ellena tapped the staff's shoulder.

"Thank you. Please, I'll have my card back, I don't want to lose it."

As Ellena followed the staff at the back of the guild where wide arena greeted their eyes.

It wasn't new for Aaron so he wasn't amazed looking at it. Perhaps, there's nothing in this world anymore that can surprise him, however, he doesn't want to be ignorant, thus, he just set a standard.

Lines of weapons placed on Weapon Racks. They serve as practice swords for adventurers in training. So to be fair, they will use one of them, and a preferred weapon is permitted.

"Don't cry yourself back to your mother." The adventurer grinned as she mocks Ellena.

"There's no way I'll go back to here. I might puke if I even see an inch of her face."

The adventurer just clicked his tongue as his mock was ineffective.

'Let's see how more your confidence can get.'

Everyone who was interested in watching the duel prepared themselves to sit at the bench of the arena.

While the staff of the guild prepared his armor to evade injuries that could inflict him from the duel since he would act as a referee.

Ellena took a breath while Aaron sat from afar as he wants to see their whole body acting and fighting.

They picked preferred weapons. Ellena picked a normal sword while the adventurer took a bastard sword.

The staff, acting as a referee announced to start the duel, "Begin!"

The audience eagerly fixed their sit to properly watch the fight. And on the other side, the adventurer was having his own taste of victory as he calculated everything in his mind; making assumptions.

'There's no way this bitch can evade my attacks. Her specialty should be around her strength so fighting with strength is futile. So I'll just give her quick attacks.'

As the duel starts, the adventurer didn't waste any time then attacked Ellena. He made feints from sidestepping, aiming to confuse Ellena.

However, despite those quick feints, Ellena could see it clearly as it was slower than Amber's movements. There's no way she could be defeated in this rough execution.

The adventurer raised the bastard sword horizontally, spinning to fuel up the speed he was making. But to his surprise, the prey he was aiming for disappeared at its position. Instead, it hastily appeared a meter before him, lifting her sword to her left side vertically where the grip is at the top.

Being the sword upside down, Ellena slide through the sword with a speed, making a loud screech emerged. Fighting with the speed, Ellena boosted up her feet then appeared at the back of the adventurer, pointing the sword on his neck.

Everyone was surprised. It merely happened in 2 seconds, and as they want to ignore such a feat, they were mesmerized by it.

Meanwhile, the adventurer was making grains of sweat. He even stopped his movement as soon he felt a cold blade touching his skin.

'How could this girl react to that? And worst, she was fast!' He cried inwardly.

Aaron witnessing it just jumped in joy. Even being invisible, he kicked everyone's head to vent out his happiness. They just pondered who hit their heads and even blame each other.

The chaotic scene was made by Aaron who was endlessly venting out his joy.

On the other hand, on the ground, the adventurer started trembling. He finally realized what he did. In his mind, his thought was in disarray.

'I was wrong! How stupid of me! Why did I dig my own grave just because I was confident that there are no experts in this place!'

"F-Forgive me. I finally recognize your talent, so can you please remove that blade?" He reluctantly said.

Ellena just raised one of her eyebrows. "Oh, I wasn't proving it to you. I want the guild to evaluate."

She put down her sword while a smile emerged on her face.

"Then it's good. You can go now, you did your purpose." Ellena said in an eerily aura.

But that scene wasn't seen by Aaron. Since he was kicking some guy, he didn't saw any new changes in Ellena's personality.

At that generous offer, the adventurer ran his ass away from the arena, even humiliating, he doesn't want to die yet.
