Even if she believed in him wholeheartedly, she still deserved to know the reason he felt they were safe entering this dangerous place.

"Veronica, I'm not just entering here recklessly. I've gotten reliable news that there was a beast tide recently that drove away all of the more powerful beasts away from the area."

After hearing this, Veronica heaved a sigh of relief before a slightly worried expression appeared on her face.

"If there's a beast tide, shouldn't we warn the academy and nearby villages? If we don't do something, those villages will be completely devastated!"

"There's no need to worry," said  Lucius, calming Veronica down.

"From the news I've gotten, the direction of the beast tide isn't the nearby villages but actually deeper into the Endless Beast forest."

After hearing this, Veronica breathed a sigh of relief but she still had some lingering suspicions.

She still felt something off.

Naturally occurring beast tides were caused by an overpopulation of monsters in an area and the more powerful monsters would drive  beasts out in an effort to control the population.

Under such circumstances it didn't make much sense for these more powerful beasts to drive these monsters into their own territory.

But Veronica didn't pry too deeply into it.

She didn't believe that Lucius was lying and she could also feel that Lucius was faintly avoiding the topic and didn't want to talk about it too much.

Obviously Lucius also had his own secrets or else, how would a normal commoner know about a beast tide in the middle of the Endless beast forest?

The duo rested briefly before continuing their journey.

Fortunately Lucius knew about the locations of this secret chance as it was clearly defined in the novel.

Like Most protagonists, Landon had gotten this opportunity by falling off a cliff.

Well, It wouldn't be accurate to call it a cliff, but instead a giant ravine that spawned hundreds of metres in width.

Using the descriptions found in the novel, it wasn't hard to find the ravine.

Whilst it was a bit more difficult to locate the exact place Landon fell off in the novel, Lucius was quite confident he found the right place.

So after double checking once again that he had indeed found the right place, Lucius brought out the equipment he had prepared a long time ago.

From the large bag on his back Lucius brought out a strong thick rope that was easily hundreds of metres long.

He searched nearby for a particularly large and sturdy tree and tied the rope securely around the tree with several knots before tugging it several times to make sure that the rope was secure.

This was a matter that concerned his life, so there was no such thing as 'too careful'.

Satisfied with the security of the rope Lucius went to the edge of the cliff that seemed like a bottomless abyss and dropped down the rope watching it disappear from his sight.

Afterwards, Lucius firmly attached his rappel gear and secured himself to the rope.

Lucius set up the rope and prepared to head down when Veronica suddenly came up to him and asked him a question

"C-can I come too?"

"Huh?"

Lucius looked at this young woman in front of him, quite confused.

Thi girl secretly followed him from the capital and was now strangely insistent on following him in whatever he did

If he didn't know any better, he would have definitely thought she was a spy with malicious intentions, but after looking at Veronica's panel he just shook that thought out of his head

Veronica Beaumont

Favourability: 73

If someone with such high favorability still wanted to betray him, then no one in this world could be trusted.

There really was no other thudded meaning behind Veronica wanting to follow him.

She really was just a bit clingy.

She was lucky she was both pretty and a heroine!

Lucius looked at her beautiful and eager eyes and just sighed.

"Sigh! You can come along as well. I brought a spare harness in my bag, so you can just use that to rappel down as well."

Hearing Lucius's confirmation, Veronica happily walked up to the bag to get her harness.

She had gone all this way and followed Lucius in hopes of spending more time with him. If Lucius went down and left here by herself, wouldn't all her efforts have been in vain?

After making sure Veronica had properly attached her harness, Lucius also made sure he brought all the materials he would need when he reached his destination and cliched onto the most important [Amulet of the High King]

Before starting his slow descent down the cliff edge.

Lucius carefully moved down, and he fortunately didn't run into any problems.

It was just him, the steep rocky walls and the bottomless abyss below him.

Fortunately, Lucius didn't have to spend too long in this crazy limbo state before a faint protrusion from the cliffside came into his sight.

A platform!

Looking at the distance from her to the cliff edge, he was nearly 50 metres down.

Looking at this crazy distance, Lucius could help but shake his head at the ridiculous ability of the protagonist.

Even after being seriously injured and falling nearly 50 meters, he had still survived, but not only survived, but he even went on to turn this into a tortuous encounter.

Lucius didn't want to think too much about the protagonist's luck or else he might end up going green out of jealousy.

Landing on the platform.

Lucius landed on the platform and made sure it was secure before calling Veronica down to join him.

When Veronica first landed and looked at the gigantic cave standing in front of Lucius, the first thing Lucius saw in her beautiful purple eyes was not fear, but instead awe.

"…Lucius… how did you even know this place was here?"

Hearing this Lucius just smiled mysteriously as he responded

"I didn't know. It was just a guess."
