Help! I don't want to NTR the protagonist!

82 82. Beaumont family honour

Before Veronica could take another step, Lucius grabbed her arm causing her to turn around in shock.

Lucius didn't waste time and directly snapped her out of her illusion

"Forget about your family! Think about yourself for once!

Remember who you are? You are Veronica Beaumont, a person with not one but two golden-grade talents!

With a golden-grade talent, Xander doesn't even dare touch me, a commoner.

If you are given time to get stronger and graduate, how could he dare suppress you? Even the Beaumont family would welcome you with open arms since by then you would be able to fight against the Caldwells all by yourself!

Lucius wasn't lying when he said this.

If the Beaumont family  wanted to, they could very well fight the Caldwells.

If they invested in their treasured daughter and endured the attacks of the Caldwells until she graduated from Sanctuary, they would definitely be able the Caldwells family and even launch a counter attack.

But from the novel, Lucius also knew that the Beaumont family lacked the pair of balls to do such a thing.

If they were that ambitious, how could they send their precious daughter over to caldwells to be engaged?

Even if they wanted to marry off their daughter it would at least be to a family that was weaker than them or at the very least  couldn't suppress them.

But seeing as they engaged Veronica to a family that was not only stronger than them but even their direct superior, it could be seen that they only  had the idea of being submissive for the next few generations.

She looked at Lucius who was smiling at her side encouraging her to pursue her own freedom and then at the scowling Xander that wanted to suppress and control her like a tyrant.

She knew In her heart that her choice was obvious. So after giving one last complicated look to Xander, Veronica clenched her fists and stood behind Lucius

As Xander saw this he was furious.

Green! His head had never been more green. In his life!

He actually had his fiancé abandon him Right in front of his eyes!

If Xander was a protagonist template this would definitely be the start of his fortuitous encounter and his counter attack but informally this guy was an early game antagonist.

He had neither the talent nor character  to challenge end game bosses like Lucius

He was simply destined to be stepped on.

"Y-you dare! If you two humiliate me like this do you really think I won't react?"

Lucius wasn't the same person that just entered Sanctuary. With these days of training, his mana and strength had increased rapidly.

Remember, Lucius wasn't actually the comment every assumed he was

He used his standing in the revolutionary army and Reina as a front to acquire several mana potions that sped up his training of mana

Increasing his mana to 4 points in this short time span

So Lucius really had nothing to fear.

The same couldn't be said about Xander. The psychological trauma he had from Lucius was even inhibiting his ability to stand in front of him much less fight him.

Seeing Xander being intimidated by Lucius without even putting up a fight, Oscar's mouth twitched

'Trash!'

Although he secretly cursed Xander in his mind, Oscar didn't dare say his thoughts out loud.

He didn't dare curse Xander, and he didn't dare leave Xander alone either

Looking at Xander's pathetic appearance, he was sure that if a fight happened again it would end up just like the fabled incident in the classroom leaving Xander bloodied and disfigured.

At that point with Xander's terrible personality he was sure that he wouldn't be able  to escape the  blame.

Realising he couldn't let his new boss get his ass beat in front of him, Oscar's mind whirled as he desperately tried to think up a solution when a thought suddenly popped into his mind.

"My lord, don't be  too hasty in fighting them right now!"

"Huh?"

Xander paused when he heard this and waited for Oscar to finish speaking

"My lord, although this matter affects your honour even more than you, the one whose honour is truly at stake is the Beaumont family."

As Veronica and Louis heard this there faces weren't good but before they could say anything Oscar carried on speaking

"Since this is a matter of the Beaumont family, naturally it would make sense  for a member of the Beaumont's to fight on your behalf."

As Xander heard this it was as if a lightbulb went of in his head

Yes! Yes! Why didn't I think of this?

Why should I fight that devil when I can have my subordinates clean him up for me!

Both Xander and Oscar were satisfied with this new idea, the only one who was a bit conflicted was the one who had been trying his best to stay as low-key as possible during this entire incident.

Louis.

Although they weren't close this was a matter that was about his sister's happiness so it inevitably made him feel awkward. What made it worse was that if he was to fight Lucius wouldn't he be fighting a first year, one that had only been in the academy for a few years at that .

As a dignified third year student, if went and fought against a freshman it could be seen as nothing other than bullying which really wasn't good for his reputation.

No matter how loyal the Beaumont family has been to the Caldwells, such blatant bullying was a bit….

Suddenly Xander's head snapped towards where he was standing.

He seemed to see the hesitation on Lous face and his expression turned stone cold.

Don't tell me you're against this fight? Don't forget my father is? Don't forget who you serve. Your Beaumonts will always serve us Caldwells. Am Unfilial bastard like Veronica can not care about the affairs of the Beaumont family but as the next heir of the family, can you afford to be so reckless?"
