Brave Hero

The next day, the Master and Seven returned to their cold and distant interaction. Yin Rui continuously dealt with the sect’s internal affairs, not even glancing at Seven. Seven noticed that the Master’s mood was bad today and naturally didn’t dare to provoke him.

Yin Rui didn’t take a break the entire morning, and the guards standing behind him didn’t dare to relax even for a moment. While others managed to hold on, Seven’s body gradually tensed up, obviously enduring something. Finally, he took a quick breath, and a muffled cough burst from his chest.

Though the sound wasn’t loud, it momentarily silenced the air in the room. Yin Rui, who had been buried in documents, slowly lifted his head and fixed his gaze on Seven.

Feeling the cold, ominous gaze, Seven immediately dropped to one knee and apologized, “I beg for forgiveness, Master.”

The prolonged silence made Seven’s heart grow colder amidst the numbness of his kneeling. Through these days of interaction, he had come to understand that even the slightest mistake in the Master’s bad mood could lead to severe consequences. Fear mingled with an inexplicable sense of sadness, and the pain he had forcibly suppressed in his chest grew more and more intense. The low coughing could no longer be restrained, and it intermittently escaped from his mouth.

Yin Rui, who had been staring intently at Seven, was momentarily taken aback. He looked at Seven with an inscrutable expression for a while before slowly asking, “When did these symptoms of coughing and shortness of breath begin?”

Seven, who had been bowing his head, prepared to face the Master’s anger, was surprised by this seemingly concerned inquiry. He froze in place and realized that despite the Master’s bad mood today, he still cared about him. A warmth filled Seven’s heart as he replied, “It’s nothing serious, Master. These symptoms started last night, and they’ve just worsened slightly today.”

Yin Rui’s brow furrowed at the mention of last night, but he relaxed upon realizing that Seven hadn’t informed Bai Fan about their wrongful visit to the execution hall. This matter was a problem that needed to be resolved early, without letting Fan discover any clues.

With this in mind, Yin Rui reached out and helped Seven up, saying, “If you’re unwell, why do you push yourself so hard? You once saved me and became my benefactor. If something were to happen to you, I would feel so guilty.”

“I dare not, Master,” Seven hurriedly replied, bowing his head.

Yin Rui tried to adjust his facial expression to appear more friendly. “Since you’re not feeling well, go back and rest for a while. Once you’ve recovered, it won’t be too late to return by my side by then.” As Yin Rui spoke, he discreetly checked Seven’s wrist and indeed found signs of irregular pulses. If he allowed him to continue following him every day like this, Fan would inevitably notice that something was amiss. Seven was not an ordinary bodyguard. If Fan were to discover that Yin Rui had sent his lifesaver to the execution hall, the consequences would certainly not be what he desired.

Seven faintly felt that the smile on the Master’s face was somewhat stiff and peculiar, but he was too immersed in his gratitude to think much of it. Instead, he respectfully bowed and said, “Thank you for your grace, Master.”

After dismissing Seven with a few words, Yin Rui sent away everyone else in the room and took out a wet cloth to carefully wipe the hand he had just helped Seven up with, full of disgust, he then threw it on the ground.

After returning to City Z, Bai Fan unfortunately found himself being forced into daily blind dates, which greatly bothered him.

On this day, Bai Fan was taken out by his mother under the pretext of shopping for clothes. However, he couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was off. He suspiciously looked at his mother, who had a smile plastered on her face. Wasn’t this just a shopping trip for clothes? Why was she so overly dressed up?

Look at all those accessories hanging off her.

Once they reached the pedestrian street, Bai Fan’s ominous premonition proved to be true. He watched as his mother, with a surprised expression, called out to a girl wearing a beige dress on the street. Then she couldn’t stop saying, “What a coincidence, Miss He. How did we run into each other again?” Bai Fan’s mouth twitched. Mom, you could be an actress.

As Bai Fan had expected, his mother made an excuse and slipped away, telling them to go ahead and shop together, saying that she would join them later.

Bai Fan helplessly watched his mother’s retreating figure. He wanted to leave, but his mother was keeping a close eye on him. If she said that she was going to return, then that means she would definitely return. If she came back and found him gone, he knew he would have to face the consequences. Looking at the quiet girl next to him, he helplessly smiled and said, “Let’s go then.”

Hiding at a corner of the street, Bai Fan’s mother nodded in satisfaction as she watched her son walk away alongside the girl. Carrying her small bag, a smile uncontrollably curved her lips. She decided to wander around for an hour or two before finding her son again, giving them more time to be together.

In high spirits due to the joyous occasion, Bai Fan’s Mother happily strolled around, her mind filled with thoughts. She wondered if her son and Miss He would have a future together. Would her son bring her home for a meal? Lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt a strong force crash into her from the side. Off balance, she fell to the ground, and at the same time, her bag was forcefully snatched away. A sharp pain also shot through her neck as her round and lustrous pearl necklace was violently ripped off her neck. Bai Fan’s Mother saw the figure of the assailant, quickly running away. In a state of shock, she shouted, “My bag! Robbery!”

City S

Gongyi Jun, feeling quite idle recently, always found ways to keep himself busy. For example, last night, he had stayed out with a few friends until late and then slept soundly until noon. When he woke up and went to have lunch, he faced an inevitable scolding from his parents.

Listening to their reproachful words, Gongyi Jun desperately wanted to change the subject. His gaze swept across the table, and he pretended to be puzzled as he asked, “Huh? Where’s Big Brother? Isn’t he coming back for lunch?”

His parents snorted. “Do you think your older brother is as useless as you? He left early in the morning to negotiate a contract in City Z.”

“Oh,” Gongyi Jun knew that no one could save him now. He could only lower his head sheepishly and endure the scolding while eating his meal.

  ……

City Z

Gongyi Bo was inspecting several large supermarkets accompanied by the branch managers. Everyone showed utmost respect to the young master of the head office, fearing the slightest negligence. Fortunately, everything was well-organized, and the young master didn’t show any dissatisfaction on his face. Just as the employees felt relieved, a panicking female voice suddenly cried out, “My bag, robbery!”

The faces of several managers changed, and they all looked in the direction of the voice. But one person acted even faster than them. One of the managers was taken aback when he saw who it was – the young master himself!

Gongyi Bo was incredibly fast, yet he didn’t make it seem unusual to those around him. He took big strides and caught up with the young man who had stolen the bag and was wearing a duckbill cap. With a show of strength, Gongyi Bo easily subdued the young man, throwing him in front of the woman who had fallen. The young man clearly resisted being caught, but the two hands behind him were as firm as iron clamps. The security guards from the supermarket arrived promptly and helped to restrain the thief.

Gongyi Bo returned the stolen bag and necklace to the woman, supporting her as he said, “Your belongings have been retrieved; please check if anything is missing.”

“Oh, my.” The woman, still in pain from the fall, stood up, thanking Gongyi Bo, “Thank you, young man.”

‘It’s nothing; it’s what we should do. Do you need me to take you to the hospital to check your neck?’ Gongyi Bo noticed a prominent red mark on the woman’s neck, with a few spots of blood, apparently from her necklace being forcefully snatched.

Still feeling the pain in her neck, the woman hesitated and replied, “No need, I’ll call my son to come pick me up.” She took out her phone from her bag and explained the situation to her son, listening to his anxious voice on the other end comforted her.

However, when her son asked about her location, the woman faced a dilemma. She looked around, trying to find a recognizable landmark.

At that moment, a steady voice came from beside her, “I’ll take care of it.”

Recognizing Gongyi Bo, the woman trusted this young man who had bravely helped her. She immediately handed him the phone.

Gongyi Bo took the phone and calmly stated the address, “This is the first-floor hall of the Four City Supermarket.”

On the other end, Bai Fan suddenly heard a stranger’s voice on his mother’s phone, paused for a moment, and then realized, “Thank you, I’ll be right there.”

Gongyi Bo returned the phone to the woman and patiently waited for her to end the call. He then assisted her to a nearby seat, saying, ‘Your son will be here shortly. I’ll stay with you for a while.’

The managers and supervisors nearby didn’t dare to leave, knowing that the young Master was present. Some of them quickly brought a cup of hot water and others fetched wet towels and band-aids.

Without explaining the situation to the girl nearby, Bai Fan quickly rushed off after saying he had something to attend to. He even used his light skills after leaving her sight. Many pedestrians felt like they saw a blur, but couldn’t see anything clearly, thinking it might be an illusion. Fortunately, when Bai Fan arrived outside the bustling Four City Supermarket, he regained his composure. He resumed a normal running pace while scanning the first-floor hall to find his mother.

Gongyi Bo had been talking to the woman to ease her tension after the incident. When he saw Bai Fan suddenly appear before him, he even subconsciously checked his watch. He thought it would take at least ten minutes for Bai Fan to arrive, but his watch showed less than five minutes since he had given Bai Fan the address.

Bai Fan didn’t pay much attention to a somewhat surprised Gongyi Bo or even noticed his presence. He went straight to his mother, who was seated in a chair. “Mom, are you okay?”

“I’m fine, I’m fine. Mom is fine. The thief who robbed me has been caught. This is the…” Bai Fan’s mother was about to introduce Gongyi Bo again.

However, Bai Fan’s expression suddenly turned grave. “Mom, why is there a wound on your neck?”

“Oh, I guess I got hurt when the thief snatched my necklace.” Still shaken, the mother touched her neck. These robbers nowadays have no humanity; she had just recently seen on TV how they directly snatched people’s earrings and necklaces, and now she experienced it firsthand.

Bai Fan cautiously touched the wound on his mother’s neck. Though it seemed like a light injury, he was still worried. “Mom, let’s go to the hospital and get it checked.”

Nodding her head, Bai Fan’s mother, burdened with age, had to go to the hospital to ensure everything was fine after the fall. “Alright, you come with me. By the way, this is the hero who helped me catch the thief.” She introduced Gongyi Bo once again.

This time, Bai Fan solemnly bowed to Gongyi Bo, expressing his gratitude. “Thank you very much for helping my mother.”

“It’s nothing…” Gongyi Bo’s words trailed off when he looked up, he suddenly felt a strong sense of familiarity from Bai Fan, as if he had seen him somewhere before.
