Get Back To You

Chapter 11 - Back to Work

At the hotel in Vegas:

After the call with Jenna, Lillian stayed back in the living room. She decided to work there without any disturbance or cautiousness. She brought her laptop and all of her work materials to the living room.

The living room was huge and spacious.

However, the working table was near the window. Lillian didn't feel like sitting through the night near the window. So, she moved the table near the lounge area. It was cozy and convenient. She had a few baby pillows for comfort and just in case needed for a small nap. Once all the setup was complete, she sat down to work.

As said, Lillian Grey completed almost 90% of the writing. Only a few chapters and the error-checking are left out.

Switching on the laptop, she opened the file and organized it.

As Lillian began focusing on her work, she received a text.

It was from Jenna.

**

"Ms. Grey, I'm very sorry for causing you this trouble. If only I didn't lose your number, none of this would have happened. I never thought that Mr. Ricardo would get this angry with you. I mean, this is not the first time, you trying to run away somewhere randomly.

Anyways, I'll be staying awake for you. If you are facing any issues with the work, let me know. I'll assist you. After all, I'm your editor, correct?"

**

**

"Oh- and also, don't consume any alcohol. I know your quality time with Ms. Lucy for ruined by me, but do not vent it out with alcohol. Try to have some coffee and- that's it. Work hard, Ms. Grey, Bye."

Two messages one after the other came from Jenna.

Lillian laughed after reading them and instantly replied to her with a single text.

**

"Go to sleep, kid."

**

Lillian then left her mobile phone nearby and started writing.

****

Lillian Grey, Keyline publication's one of the best selling authors and a celebrated one. When Shane took over the company as the president, he formally invited his best friend Lillian Grey to work with him.

Both started together, and Shane helped Lillian Grey to become a successful author. She published her book under his publication.

Despite their good relationship, Lillian Grey is also a notorious one; there are times when she would fly off somewhere even without informing his editor. Most of the time, the editor would seek Shane's assistance in finding Lillian Grey due to their association as best friends.

One can say that Shane Ricardo is the only person who can control Lillian Grey. Simply because both of them were friends from college and shared an interest in books and novels, their bond is solid, and their friendship is unbreakable. If there's one person that Lillian Grey couldn't despise within this industry, it would be Shane Ricardo.

Lillian worked all night finishing her final draft and reviewing the copy before sending it to Jenna. Throughout the whole night, she would often take a walk around for some fresh air. That way, she could resist the temptation to take a nap.

...

Next Day-

In the early morning - At Shane's residence:

Shane was sleeping peacefully when his mobile suddenly buzzed. The ringtone of an "Old Telephone" startled him from his slumber. He woke up swiftly with his eyes still half-closed.

The mobile was on the nightstand. Shane had to lean forward to pick it up and saw the notification on the screen. It was a call from Jenna. Quickly, adjusting her frame, Shane answered the call.

"What's up to Jenna?" he spoke in a low tone, still dozing from his abrupt awakening.

"Mr. Ricardo. I apologize for calling you so early in the morning. I just wanted to update you that Ms. Grey has sent me the final draft. I got it in the mail, just now. I will start my work and let you know."

Although Shane was sleeping, he heard the message crystal clear.

"Alright. Thanks, Jenna for the update. You can rest at home today. I know you would have stayed up all night alone for that idiot. So, take a break today. I will speak to Lillian later."

"Wow. Really?" Jenna wanted to get confirmation.

When Shane responded, Jenna cried. She gets to rest all day at home, leisurely.

The past few weeks have been hectic because of Lillian Grey's new book that is soon to get published. And so, Jenna had to work hard. Having this day off can ease her work pressure and help her recharge.

"Thanks, Mr. Ricardo. See you then."

Jenna cut the call after greeting him.

Shane was now almost awake. When he was about the place the mobile back on the nightstand, he saw a few notifications pop up on top of the screen.

A message from Lillian...and Giselle!

**

Lillian:

"I finished my job and sent Jenna the final draft. My date's going to start soon. So, don't you dare disturb me, or I'll kill you! Also, give Jenna a day off. She didn't listen to me and stayed up all night. Any serious stuff, text me. Don't call. Thanks and Wake up, dumbass."

**

Giggling from his friend's text, Shane went back to read Giselle's message. Remembering their last night conversation, Shane felt tense inside, not knowing what Giselle had decided. It took him a few seconds to compose himself before opening Giselle's text.

**

Giselle:

"Mr. Ricardo, I've thought about it, and I will accept your offer. When can I join officially? Let me know. And thank you for your support. I will make sure to live up to it."

**

Lillian had sent hers at 5:00 AM.

Shane replied to both of them. He then rolled out the bed and stretched his muscles.

However, Shane couldn't stop smiling from reading those two text messages. He felt glad for both and went to the kitchen to make himself a cup of tea to start the day.
