Chapter 6: Fighting Barbarian Luo.

The iron gate was the entrance of the Royal Frost Fall Academy. Currently, a burly guard dressed in black, shiny heavy armor stood before the gates of the Academy.

The black, shiny iron gate behind the guard was sealed shut. From the looks of it, the gates had been meticulously forged by using cold tungsten steel. There were various types of inscription – offensive and defensive – inscribed on it. The gate seemed extraordinary; Moreover, any person who tries to force their way through the gate will be in a world of pain. He will be badly hurt or worse, even die.

Whittaker saw a winding path through the iron bars of the gate; However, Hera didn't as he didn't have eyesight as excellent as Whittaker. To the surprise of the snowy-haired boy, everything behind the majestic gates was brimming with life. Outside, it was cold, and white just like his hairs, yet inside it seemed to be warm.

Four words were written majestically on the iron board placed above the gate. The words gave off an oppressive aura as they were written by the Grand General of the Water Kingdom. Those four words kept the coldness of the world away. It was as if the red dust of the mortal world could never reach those inside the boundary of the Academy.

The four words were, "Royal Frost Fall Academy".

The guard saw two commoners coming up to the gates. He identified them as commoners because of their simple winter wears. He held a Long-Shaft Spear in his hand, one with a very sturdy black blade. Shouting loudly, he commanded them to stop.

"Specks of dust are not allowed inside the Academy ground. You beggars should scram back to the rat hole you came from. Ptooey!"

The guard spits at the ground while staring at Whittaker and Hera with eyes seething with unmasked disdain and anger. In this era, many aristocrats and people in power treated commoners as dust. A single disagreement and the commoner will be beheaded.

The guard was one of those people that abuse their power. He had already positioned his long-shaft spear at their heads. If they refused to leave then he will immediately attack.

Hera gave the guard an apologetic smile, right after, grabbing Whittaker's hand he turned around. Seeing that, the guard said, "It's good that you know your place. Hmm, get to live another day."

Hera muttered to Whittaker, "Let's return sometime else. This bastard seems obnoxious, maybe he will kill us if we don't walk away."

Whittaker was totally pissed off at the attitude of the trashy guard, "Brother, I say we bust his balls and beat him black and blue so that next time he won't act arrogantly in front of a commoner."

"Little brother, your sense of justice is higher than the heavens, but this guard is bulky, just like a bull. While we are scrawny when compared to him. His thighs are bigger than my waist. If we attack him then he will probably Jab our asses with his horn. It will be better if we just wait for his guarding shift to end. Then we can enter the Academy" Hera replied.

"But I have the recommendation letter and that brainless bull has no rights to stop me from entering the academy!" Whittaker replied in irritation.

A new notification appeared.

‹Main Quest: Teach a lesson to the guard dressed in Heavy armor›

‹Rewards: 20 XP›

"Halt" Suddenly a loud shout was heard from behind them. Turning around they saw the guard brimming with anger. The guard was a powerful warrior with exceptional hearing sense. He heard everything they said about him.

"Do you trash know that I can hear everything you say? Today, no one can save you from dying!"

Just like a bull, the guard charged ahead and rushed towards them.

"Run!" Hera immediately rushed ahead without any further adieu. One tackle by the guard and they will be crushed to death under his weight. Especially Whittaker, who will be crushed into a meat paste if the guard crash into him.

'Wait... where's WHITTAKER!???' Hera finally noticed that Whittaker wasn't with him. He turned around and saw his little brother facing off against the sturdy hunk with bulking muscles that are stacked on top of each other and excluded an overwhelming aura.

[Barbarian Luo

Power Level: 2.49 (Sealed state)

Hp: 379]

Whittaker had already positioned his hands towards the prideful guard. His Frost spell book had long since appeared atop his head.

Pointing his hands at the bulky bull that was charging at him, Whittaker called out [Frost bolt].

The spellbook lit up in icy light and launched a frost bolt at the guard.

Barbarian Luo was caught by surprise. The frost bolt smashed into his face and erupted into a frosty layer that coated his entire body. Due to the difference in power and the fact that Barbarian Luo has an impressive defense, the damage caused by Frost's bolt decreased tremendously; However, his speed slowed down by 5%.

Whittaker gulped in tension. This was his first time engaging in a fight but the spell he just cast provided him with enough confidence to take down this raging bull.

"You are courting death, punny bastard. Don't let me catch you or else I will flatten you!" Barbarian Luo bellowed and the entire surroundings shook.

Using the battle Skill Overload, his muscles pumped up and his strength doubled. With giant strides, he rushed towards Whittaker, who kept on casting his spells to slow down the barbarian speed.

[Frost Bolt]...[Frost Bolt]...[Frost Bolt]

Within an instant, Barbarian Luo was covered in an icy blue aura from head to toe. What's worse was the fact that he was paralyzed because of the frost bolt max stack effect. Even then the young boy frost bolt didn't stop smashing into his face, again and again.

The frost bolts bitch slapped him to freeze.

Being beaten black and blue by a little kid was enough to embarrass barbarian Luo. He was seething with rage. Without any delay, he also called upon the help of his class weapon, Will Of Barbarian!

Flame Burst

E-ranked skill

Effect: To Dispel binding and frost debuffs.

Searing flame blasted out of his body and dispelled the icy blue aura that covered him from head to toe. Now, he was free from the Frost bolt paralysis effect. His feet plunged into the ground and he leaped ahead like a panther.

Frost's bolts crashed into his body yet he wasn't hurled backward.

After some seconds, his shadow loomed over the little body of Whittaker, who didn't hesitate to call out [Frost Bolt].

Barbarian Luo was already affected by Five new stacks of frost bolt!

The spellbook charged up a frost bolt while Barbarian Luo assaulted Whittaker with his weapon. Flame wisp whirled around his long-shaft spear, and he crashed it atop his body.

To dodge the heavy spear, Whittaker rolled to the side and successfully evaded the attack. He managed to dodge it because Barbarian Luo was slowed by 25%!

Right then, the Frost spellbook also hurled a Frost bolt and it crashed into his head. The last Frost stack was added.

Six Frost stacks caused him to be paralyzed once again. He was paralyzed, vulnerable to any form of attack.

The heavy armor Barbarian Luo wore covered most of his body except the face, joints, and the private region with metal. His armor didn't cover his joints with metal; For the sake of increasing the body movement. The only way to deal huge amount of damage to him was to attack his nuts.

"Eat this!"

At that moment, Whittaker stood up and harshly kicked at his exposed and defenseless groin. A seething pain traveled from the barbarian's private path and cruised all over his body. In this frigid environment, he felt hot as blood rushed to his brain.

This was the last straw for the sturdy bull. He used the E-ranked battle skill, Wind Burst. His body trembled as the wind bursts out and crashed into Whittaker. He was flung away like a ragdoll and fell at the back of his head over the snowy ground. Whittaker marveled at the fact that he didn't feel any pain. It's because his snowy-hairs has hardened before his body slammed on the snow.

The battle was still on-going, so Instantly, he rolled on the ground and stood up. He stood face to face with Barbarian Luo whose head and exposed neck bulged with thick veins.

Suddenly, a terrifying roar bellowed out from the pits of his stomach.

Barbaric Taunt

E-ranked (4-star)

Effect: Utters a Warcry that shocks the senses and attracts the attention of mobs.

Due to the roar, Whittaker found his vision blurring and consciousness fleeting.

By the time his vision cleared up, the long-shaft spear was already crashing towards him. There was no time left to dodge.

Due to fear, his eyes shut down.

"Whittaker!" Hera called out in horror. No!

Bomb! Flaming wind rippled outwards and diffused in the surrounding.

"Headmaster?" Barbarian Luo muttered in shock.

Just when Whittaker thought that it was his end, he heard a voice of disbelief from barbarian Luo. Realizing that he didn't die, he opened his eyes to take a look and his eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets. Awestruck by the spectacle in front, he stood still as if petrified on the spot.

He saw that Barbarian Luo's incomparably powerful attack was stopped in the midst of its swing and what is stopping it is the two wrinkly fingers of the old man.

He glimpses at a familiar hunched back... It is the kind face, old man!

The old man blocked such a powerful attack by pinching it between two fingers!

The Headmaster shook his head in disappointment and flicks his forefinger which gently touches the long-shaft spear.

"Kuah" Barbarian Luo is lifted off his feet and hurled backward as if a train had crashed into him.

Bang! He crashed into the iron gate of the Academy. His internal organs get messed up and blood trickles down from the corner of his mouth.

To Whittaker's glee, a notification popped up.

Main Quest complete, 20 XP has been rewarded!

"What a mess this is. Little boy, tell me, are you hurt anywhere?" The Headmaster said by turning towards Whittaker.

Immediately concluding that the danger has passed away, he beamed a smile to the headmaster and pridefully declared,

"No, I am all fine. It's the guard who you should be worrying about. See his face, it's bruised all-over, beaten black and blue by my hands!"

"En, you were very impressive indeed, as expected of a frost mage. Though, if I hadn't arrived then the ending would have been adverse for you. Next time, don't attack without knowing the power of your opponent. Be more cautious or else you might lose your life." The old man, who is also the Headmaster of this academy warned Whitaker.

Hera rushed to hug his little brother. His heart had almost jumped out of his mouth when he saw the long-shaft spear crashing towards Whittaker.

"Elder Brother, I am totally fine. Let go, you are embarrassing me." He said while blushing.

Hera reluctantly let go of his brother.

"Barbarian Luo, I personally invited this kid to join the Academy. So, how could you fight a little kid with your class weapon? What's worse is the fact that you got beaten at the hands of a kid. Do you still have any shame left!" The old man scolded. He had seen everything that transpired. He was gonna intervene at the very first second but held back to check what Whittaker will do. To his surprise, the boy impressed him by casting instant magic multiple times in some seconds.

"I am sorry Headmaster. I will accept any punishment you deem suitable for my rash action." Barbarian Lou said by positioning himself in a kneeling gesture. His eyes lowered low. He held absolute compliance with the principal.

"Go to the disciplinary department, take 30 lashes, and reflect on your action for the next three months." the Headmaster commanded. His gentle demeanor has entirely changed into that of a strict military man.

Even Whittaker was impressed and scared.

"As you command!" Barbarian Luo boisterously replied. He stood up and opened up the gates of the Academy. Then he walked towards the disciplinary department.

The Headmaster turned towards Whittaker, he humbly said, "I am sorry about what you have to face. The ideology that nobles have about commoners is hard to change. Sigh, come let me walk you inside the Academy."

The old man extended his right hand towards him to take him inside.

Understanding the underlying meaning, Whittaker held onto his hand.
