Forsaken By Love

When He Lixue woke up, she found a bag with new clothes waiting for her, alongside a note. The note told her that the lingerie had not been touched by a man, but only the shopping assistant had touched and packed it.

Seeing that he was so thoughtful, He Lixue almost forgave him for being such a beast. 

She was relieved that she had washed up before lying down as the warm water had caused her to be much more comfortable than she had expected. 

He Lixue wore the clothes that Assistant Hui had found for her. The style was very different from what she used to wear, and she could not help but whistle when she saw herself in the mirror.

So far, she had been wearing sneakers, jeans, and shirts, but now she was dressed in an elegant and vintage white dress. Together with her watery eyes, and her long hair cascading over her shoulders, she seemed youthful but still beautiful, refined but adorable. 

She quickly made a twirl in the room and saw how the dress beautifully spread around her, and she felt so girlish and free like she had never felt before. 

She left the lounge room and saw that Lu Nanfeng was entirely focused on working; he did not even hear the door opening and closing. Looking at him, she noticed that his brows were furrowed as he read through a business proposal. 

He Lixue wanted to leave fast and return to work, but she was not sure if she should leave without saying goodbye to Lu Nanfeng. 

She had a strange feeling in her heart that if she said goodbye, she would miss him for a long time, but that was unreasonable considering they were living together. 

Shaking her head, she walked to his side and eased out the frown on his brow with her fingers. 

Lu Nanfeng lifted his head and saw her looking adorable yet concerned. Realizing what made her worried was enough to make him feel sweet, and he smiled slightly. 

"Don't worry about me," he said. "I need to finish deciding between a few proposals; then, I will take you home. Go and do some work before then, or stay here and keep me company."

He Lixue quickly decided to go back and work. She had already skipped so much work, and now she could finally return to the office. But she was also aware that she would be teased a lot since she had changed clothes. Anyone with a brain would be able to tell what she had been doing, and she could not help but flush red. 

She shook her head and gave Lu Nanfeng a brief kiss on his forehead before she hurried to leave the office. 

He Lixue was feeling blissfully happy while leaving the top floor. She did not even notice the strange glances that the many secretaries were giving her, and the slight smiles on their faces, as if they had just gotten a lot of exciting gossip.

She continued to the floor where the IT Security Department was located, and as she left the elevator, she could not help but frown. Someone was standing right next to the elevator, a coworker that she remembered was a receptionist. 

"Miss He, I came to see you. I fear that my computer has been infected with a virus, and the rest of the company is unable to handle it. Please come with me as soon as possible to have a look. We need to watch for the information not being leaked."

He Lixue frowned. A virus when she had just gotten the new security system live? That was not very likely.

"Let me speak with Manager Mo first," He Lixue said hesitatingly as she began walking away, but before she got more than a few steps, she felt an electric current enter her body, and everything turned black.

The receptionist looked at the unconscious He Lixue with annoyance. "You should just have followed me," she muttered before she dragged her to a corner where not many were walking. Here she waited for Mister Jiang, who arrived not long after. He wasted no time, worried that someone might find them, and bound He Lixue's wrists and feet. He then placed her on his shoulder and took the staircase down from the IT Security Department's floor and took the back door out of the building. He had already gotten the receptionist to interfere with the security cameras and made sure that no one would notice anything.

It only took an hour before He Lixue opened her eyes again, and while she was conscious, her rational thoughts had not returned. She saw Mister Jiang and thought she was back to her old life, so she could not help but ask, "Little Five, did I not die?" 

Mister Jiang, who had been sitting and observing her, was shocked. His eyes widened, and his hand trembled. "What did you just call me?" he asked, his voice was low and threatening, but He Lixue was still in between dream and reality. 

"Little Five, stop being so annoying. I clearly remember the knife went through my heart. I thought I was reborn, but it seems that I was dreaming."

Mister Jiang was shocked beyond belief. Was this a trick? But it should not be. No one knew that their He Lixue had been stabbed in the heart, not to mention very few people knew that Little Five was Mister Jiang. 

He pondered for some time and was about to ask something else when he saw that He Lixue had fallen asleep again.

The receptionist, who was driving the car, was so scared because of the ugly expression on Mister Jiang's face, that she dared not ask questions. Instead, she kept driving, and they got further and further away from the Fenghuang Group's office.
