Forsaken By Love

He Huiling and Jiang Jinnan were shocked. They had never thought that Lu Nanfeng would be so protective over He Lixue, they were sure that she was merely a toy for him.

Knowing that she had been engaged before, he was likely to get angry and throw her away, but when they had announced it to him, he had not cared and had even shamed them further.

"Brother Nanfeng, don't waste your time on them," He Lixue said. She looked innocent and adorable as she was seated in the chair, fiddling with her sleeves and sending a sad smile to Lu Nanfeng.

"Even if I am sad by how they treat me, they are, after all, still my cousin and cousin-in-law. We should not cause them to lose face."

By now, most of the people within the lobby had been listening in on the conversation that was happening at Lu Nanfeng's table. They all knew Lu Nanfeng and the He family, but they had never known that Lu Nanfeng had a relationship with the girl who had been in a coma. Now they had to reassess their opinion on the He family and He Lixue especially.

Everyone wanted to get closer to Lu Nanfeng. It was no wonder that He Huiling and Jiang Jinnan tried to strike up a conversation with him, but in return they had gotten roasted by his replies.

It showed that He Lixue was truly important to him. They liked her even more, when they heard her say those words in favor of He Huiling, clearly not wanting to embarrass Lu Nanfeng nor anyone else. She was truly an innocent and sweet little girl.

Only Lu Nanfeng knew that she was acting. She wanted nothing more than to destroy He Huiling and her family, but her acts were enough to portray her as a saint, while the two others were evil witches.

Raising an eyebrow, Lu Nanfeng reached out and rubbed her head. "Okay," he said gently. "I will not bother with them any longer. Please don't let this destroy our mood; we have so much to celebrate today."

He Lixue nodded her head and smiled shyly. She was so adorable that anyone who saw her would feel their hearts beat irregularly, even Jiang Jinnan was fooled by her acts and could not help but feel that she was incredibly adorable.

Although He Lixue was not rich, Jiang Jinnan came from a wealthy family himself, so even if he picked He Lixue back then, nothing much would have changed for him. However, he was greedy, and thus he decided to end the engagement with He Lixue while she was in a coma and picked He Huiling instead.

He Huiling was the only child of He Weiling and Zhou Lifen. When they died, she would inherit everything of theirs, and if they married, it would naturally belong to him.

But he did not like He Huiling at all. She was spoiled and arrogant. She had never thought about the consequences because she thought that her father could cover the skies with his hands. But when compared to a real mogul like Lu Nanfeng, her father was truly nothing to be concerned about.

If he could get connections with Lu Nanfeng, then Jiang Jinnan was more than willing to let go of He Huiling. Still, from what he could see, He Lixue and Lu Nanfeng had a relationship, so even if he returned to He Lixue, he would just annoy the man he wanted to impress. This was a thorny situation, and he was not willing to lose both sides, so he decided to stick with He Huiling for now.

Lu Nanfeng was aware that everyone thought he had some relationship with He Lixue, but he did nothing to straighten up their thoughts. He found that he did not find it disgusting to be rumored together with her.

He Lixue did not think too much about it either. She was always a simple person, and considering she came from a much less conservative country before, she did not think that there was anything extreme over their actions, hence she never considered them having a relationship.

She knew that Lu Nanfeng was spoiling and pampering her, but as to why, she really did not know. Maybe he owed the princess something?

He Lixue did not think about things too much; she just took life as it came.

Not long after the dishes were served, and both He Huiling and Jiang Jinnan could not stay and watch them display affection as they ate, so they hurriedly left the restaurant.

As they left, He Huiling gave a jealous and hate-filled glance at He Lixue. She could not help but look at Lu Nanfeng with reverence.

So far, everything that had belonged to He Lixue had been stolen by her and her family. So why could she not also steal Lu Nanfeng's affection away from her?

He Huiling did not believe that Lu Nanfeng would pick He Lixue over her. She had money and she was beautiful. She may not be as beautiful as He Lixue, but her money had to add up for that.

Even so, she was super mad at He Lixue for being a natural beauty. Although He Huiling was beautiful, most of it was because of her cosmetic surgeries.

As they left the restaurant they hurried back home, Jiang Jinnan dropped He Huiling at her home, before he found an excuse to hurry home to his own home.

Both He Huiling and Jiang Jinnan had to discuss their next plan of action with their families. The fact that He Lixue was with Lu Nanfeng was bringing a sense of crisis to both families.
