Forsaken By Love

The following day, He Lixue woke up early in the morning. She could not help but stretch slightly, feeling that it was an ungodly hour to get up, but she was aware that she had no choice if she wanted to be a law-abiding citizen.

Previously she had been engaged in many illegal things for the sake of survival, but now things were different. Since she had been given a new lease on life, she was not going to go down the same dark route.

Looking in her closet, she found that she only had three sets of clothes. None of which were suitable for working in a big corporation's headquarters.

Unfortunately, she had no choice but to pick the clothes, and thus she took a pair of washed-out white jeans and an aquamarine blouse.

She then went to wash up before she got dressed. Looking at the clock, she realized it was time for her to get going, and she locked the door before leaving the Golden River Estate. Arriving at the main road, she hailed a taxi, and headed towards the Fenghuang Group headquarters.

As she arrived, she quickly paid the fare before heading in through the front entrance.

It was a magnificent foyer that greeted her; the floor was so luxurious that she could not help but wonder why they had gone to such lengths for a corporation.

Shaking her head, a slight smile hung on her lips as she moved towards the receptionist.

The receptionist lifted her head and frowned slightly upon seeing He Lixue's attire. It was clearly not what one usually wore when being in the white-color work environment.

"What can I do for you?" Even though she was puzzled by this woman's appearance, the receptionist was professional. Some leading figures in the business world were quite eccentric, so who knew, this woman might be someone special.

"I have an appointment with Manager Mo from the IT Security department."

"Name?"

"He Lixue."

The woman lifted her head slightly when she heard this, and when she saw that the features of her face were, in fact, familiar. Was this the abandoned girl of the He family? What was she doing here, and why did she have a meeting with their IT Security department?

She was confused, but looking at Manager Mo's schedule, she did indeed find a meeting with He Lixue.

Since there was scheduled a meeting, it was not her place to try and pry into their purpose, so she instead summoned an assistant that had to lead He Lixue towards Manager Mo's office.

He Lixue was polite but not fawning; she held a slight smile on her face as she observed everything around her.

The assistant was also polite and began describing which departments were located where in the company.

The sixty-fifth floor, the top floor, was where the CEO's office was located. It was indeed a magnificent skyscr.a.p.er, and the entire building belonged to Fenghuang Group.

Now they went to floor twenty-seven, and here the assistant took her to a decent-sized office, before knocking on the door.

"Come in," a voice could be heard calling out from within, and the assistant opened the door, before gesturing for He Lixue to enter.

"I have now led you to Manager Mo. Please enjoy your meeting."

After having said what he wanted to say, the assistant nodded to Manager Mo, before he closed the door after He Lixue and left.

He Lixue could not help but whistle. The work environment in the Fenghuang Group sure was uptight. Would a wild bird like she also become a capable robot if she worked here? Oh well, she did not mind spicing up the life of the other workers, but she knew she could not cause problems. This was Lu Nanfeng's territory, after all.

"Am I so attractive?" a male voice suddenly sounded, and He Lixue was suddenly reminded that there was another person in the room. Turning around, a cheeky smile appeared on her lips. Looking at the man in front of her, she seemed to be evaluating him in a way no demure lady was supposed to evaluate a man.

Manager Mo felt amused. Was this the socialite He Lixue? She was more like a street ruffian! But he liked her like this.

"You're not bad," He Lixue said without hiding the grin on her face. "Of course, you are not able to hold a candle next to Lu Nanfeng's handsome face."

An expression of pain appeared on his face, and he clutched his c.h.e.s.t as if he had taken an arrow in his heart.

"Miss He, you truly say things directly!" he exclaimed. For some weird reason, this woman made him feel energized and happy. She was so entertaining!

"So, are you going to test me first to see that I did not trick you yesterday?" He Lixue asked. She was quite sure that there would be a test, and Manager Mo nodded his head.

"Come here," he gestured for her to come to his side and she hurried over, her entire being excluding a youthful radiance.

"I put down seven different programs; I need you to crack them all within a certain timeframe."

"Sure," He Lixue snickered and stretched her hands before her fingers danced over the keyboard. It was like watching a ballet; her fingers were graceful and elegant. Every move was full of confidence and control, and she did not even need half the time to crack all programs.

Manager Mo had already expected her to do well, so he had intentionally made the time shorter than normal, but she was still so fast! This was natural talent!
