Although Zhan Yin loved to eat plum cakes, she disliked pea cakes. However, even though she had been forcefully fed, she did not dare to say anything under her brother’s icy-cold gaze.

Xian Sheng attempted to read Zhan Lue’s face, but when he stared at Zhan Lue, he was persistently glaring at Zhan Yin. Xian Sheng had no choice but to withdraw his gaze, and Zhan Lue followed suit.

Zhan Yin, who was spared, weakly threw the pea cake in her mouth aside and replaced it with a plum cake. As she did that, she sneaked a glance at that special pastry.

Xian Sheng frowned and could deduce that there was something about this pastry. He tried to piece Zhan Yin’s words together—

Flat…? What’s flat?

However, no matter how hard he thought about it, he could not figure out what being “flat” had to do with the pastry.

He stood up. Under Zhan Yin’s gaze, he picked up the plate of pastry and passed it to Zhan Yin, saying gently, “I don’t know if Mother saved some for you.”

The pastry was already in front of her. Zhan Yin blushed and picked one up silently. Zhan Jin, who was sitting beside her, clenched her fist slightly and took her hand off the table slowly.

However, it was unavoidable—the plate of pastry was passed to her. “A-Jin?”

With an awkward expression, she said slowly, “Mother saved some for me, so I won’t eat it.”

Zhan Yin covered her mouth with her hand, trying to conceal her shock and uncontrollable laughter. However, Xian Sheng merely placed the pastry back calmly. Smoothing out his sleeves, he sat down on the chair and said, “So A-Jin has them too. His Highness said that this pastry is used to nourish the body. I thought that only a weakling like me had to eat it.”

Zhan Jin did not know what to say. “…”

Her expression revealed a slight sense of guilt. Xian Sheng captured everything in his eyes and was certain that there was something wrong with the pastry. However, he was a man. Even if he pretended to be a woman, it was inappropriate for someone to talk to him about a woman’s body. He would not be able to reach a definite answer quickly.

The stove on the table started gurgling. Xian Sheng threw in some vegetables first and took the initiative to disperse the strange atmosphere. Very quickly, Zhan Yin started to gossip about what happened in the palace.

Zhan Hua had already regained consciousness. However, the impact was too big and many of his bones had been fractured. He would need around half a year before fully recovering. This also meant that he could not attend the Spring Hunting session. Consort Rong was so worried about this that she grew a couple of wrinkles. She had two sons—one of them died in a battle, so there was only Zhan Hua left. She anticipated him to become successful. If he was seriously injured, then he might never receive Emperor Jin’s favour in his lifetime. How could she not worry?

Qing Rong’s hand was never going to heal. She was initially left-handed but Qin Yi directly destroyed her left hand. In these two days, she still cried every day, running over to Emperor Jin to complain and begging him to capture Qin Yi to avenge her.

Speaking of Qing Rong, Zhan Yin’s expression was still a bit conflicted. Evidently, she had taken Qing Rong’s words to heart. Zhan Lue ignored her emotions and only reminded her indifferently, “Be cautious of becoming the knife in her hand.”

Zhan Jin ate silently throughout. Her expression was calm and she rarely joined the conversation, only replying occasionally if someone asked her a question.

After eating the hotpot, Xian Sheng’s body felt really warm and he started to sweat lightly. He even tried to eat from the spicy stove, causing his face and lips to redden. There was a tinge of colour blossoming across his usually sickly complexion. Zhan Lue could barely suppress himself after looking at him. However, when he noticed his sister’s unrestrained expression, he forcefully fed her a huge handful of chili.

Halfway through eating, Jiang Qin suddenly came over and said that he needed to report something to Zhan Lue.
