Xian Sheng initially thought that Zhan Lue was referring to his age. The more he heard Zhan Lue speak, the stranger it seemed—but he could not figure out what exactly was wrong.

Grab… what?

No matter how much he mulled over it, he could not reach an answer. He looked so confused that Zhan Lue suddenly found him to be extremely adorable—he hugged Xian Sheng tightly and kissed him again.

Xian Sheng struggled futilely. After Zhan Lue released him, his face became serious. Breathing unsteadily, he said, “Stop doing that so randomly.”

He looked like a rabbit raising its head, trying to argue with a wolf. Zhan Lue’s heart felt like it had been gently scratched by a cat’s claws—he wanted to bully him again. “The Princess’ requests are getting more and more excessive. First, you refused to sleep with me. Now what? I need to get your permission to kiss you?”

Xian Sheng knew that he was in the wrong and could only let his gaze fall onto the box beside him. “But… You kissed me a few times today.”

“You think that that’s too much?”

Xian Sheng thought: It’s not that it’s too much—I just don’t like you. But he could not possibly say that. He glanced at Zhan Lue and was about to speak when the carriage suddenly tilted sideways. Xian Sheng pounced at Zhan Lue uncontrollably, his lips pressing onto Zhan Lue’s lips coincidentally. If Zhan Lue did not catch him in time and regain balance, they would have scraped their mouths.

The driver outside apologized hurriedly, “Your Highness, please forgive me for disturbing you.”

Zhan Lue consoled the driver. “It’s alright.”

As the carriage drove forward, Zhan Lue told Xian Sheng happily, “Looks like even Heaven wants us to do more intimate things.”

Xian Sheng immediately pushed him away and moved aside. Lifting his hands, he wiped his lips with a gloomy expression.

The carriage reached the Crown Prince Court quickly. Zhan Lue alighted the carriage before Xian Sheng. When his head emerged from the carriage, Zhan Lue carried him down personally. Without releasing him, he walked towards the building while ordering his men to reward the driver.

The driver did not know why, but he still thanked him profusely and happily. “Thank you for the reward, Your Highness!”

Xian Sheng, who was caught in Zhan Lue’s embrace, changed his expression. Upon meeting Zhan Lue’s gaze, his fury rose and his face became serious again. He said, “I want to walk on my own.”

“The snowy roads are slippery. What if you fall?”

Zhan Lue’s footsteps were brisk and he carried Xian Sheng into the inner chamber directly, the warmth welcoming them face-front. Right after Zhan Lue let Xian Sheng down, he opened the box of pastries that he took from the carriage, used his handkerchief to wrap a few pieces and passed them to Ru Yi. He said to Yue Hua, “Ru Yi suffered on my behalf today. Please bring her away to apply some medicine on her injuries.”

The both of them bowed and left. Xian Sheng returned to the table and noticed how Zhan Lue kept staring at the pastries. Thinking that he wanted to eat them, Xian Sheng purposefully closed the lid and kept the box away. “If Your Highness has something else to do, then you can leave first.”

Zhan Lue was amused by how Xian Sheng was so possessive over the pastries. “Looks like the Princess is extremely fond of these pastries.”

Xian Sheng ignored him again and placed his cloak over the folding screen. Sitting on the bed, he opened the box and ate another piece. Upon seeing Zhan Lue’s expression, he felt even more weirded out. “Why do you keep staring at me?”

“This pastry is a tonic. I was worried that the Princess would not be used to it, but I’m relieved now.”

Was this pastry specially made by Empress Xin to improve his health?

Xian Sheng’s heart softened, and a warm tint diffused over his beautiful eyes. He said, “I’ll thank Royal Mother someday later.”

Zhan Lue was eager to claim the credit. “I let Mother do it. Instead of thanking her, why don’t you serve your husband well tonight?”

Every sentence he spoke revolved about that matter. Xian Sheng was annoyed, but the pastry was indeed delicious. He ate a few more pieces and stuffed his mouth full, preventing himself from saying anything that would offend Zhan Lue.

Someone at the door suddenly brought a report to them. “Imperial Consort Rong sent people over to meet the Crown Princess.”

Before Xian Sheng even spoke, Zhan Lue ordered, “Kick them out.”

The man hesitated. “They brought gifts over and said that they wanted to apologize to the Crown Princess personally.”

Zhan Zhan replied, “Keep the gifts. Kick the people out.”

“Yes.”
