“Thanks for your concern. It’s much better.”

“Mm.” Zhan Lue did not speak further. He turned around and was about to leave, when Zhan Yin followed him hurriedly. “Brother, what should I do? Qing Rong said that she was trying to save me… Have I become the villain now?”

“If you are seriously so foolish that you cannot tell that she was lying, then you can go and console her.”

As he walked towards the inner chamber, Zhan Yin stamped her feet in anger. “Can’t you speak to me like how you speak to A-Jin?”

Xian Sheng has yet to fall asleep in the inner chamber. After all, this was the Empress’ Palace and the room was filled with an unfamiliar scent. Outside, Zhan Yin seemed to have kicked something over out of fury—he recalled the girl who insulted Qin Yi that day and could not help but chuckle.

If he had a sister, he would definitely pamper her.

There were no real princesses in the Liang Palace. When he was born, he was diagnosed with an unknown terminal illness, and when he grew up, he was plagued with tuberculosis. He heard that he had stopped breathing for a couple of times even before weaning—his life was just barely saved by a Taoist priest.

The “Sheng” in his name was initially another Chinese character that meant vitality and life. However, as it was deemed to be too masculine, his name was changed to the current “Sheng” character.

Oddly enough, ever since he changed his name, the deathly aura that surrounded him disappeared—only his sickly disposition stuck with him. The Taoist Priest travelled around the world and would visit him occasionally. Upon seeing how Xian Sheng grew up to be even more good-looking, the priest forced him to be his disciple. The previous time the priest left reluctantly, he mentioned that Xian Sheng’s life opportunity was about to come. If he could grasp it and tide over his eighteenth birthday, he could live to be a hundred years old, enjoy a life of prosperity, and have a lot of children.

Xian Sheng asked him what kind of opportunity it was. Yet, he only rambled on about something regarding a sickly aura versus a ferocious aura, and the Yin versus the Yang. Upon analyzing what the priest said, Xian Sheng figured out what he meant—he would meet someone with a ferocious Yang aura, who could weaken his own sickly aura.

He had wondered if this person could be Zhan Lue. However, since his Master mentioned that he would have a lot of children, he did not match the description. He thought that the person would most likely be a heroic and lively woman. After all, it was impossible that Zhan Lue would be the one giving birth to the children—Xian Sheng had already personally seen and touched that thing.

However, there was no suitable woman in the Southern Liang. Even after he came to the Northern Jin, he barely met anyone. Only Zhan Jin managed to suit the description, but only barely.

When he first met Zhan Jin, he had an odd feeling. For some reason, he thought that she had a wise look and a heroic aura between her eyes. However, he never got to witness her martial prowess. When they conversed at the lake, he felt that she gave off a very familiar feeling. Xian Sheng had two speculations about this: First, she is the woman who embodied the ferocious Yang aura. Second, she had the same secret as him.

He was still uncertain. While his rationality inclined him towards the second possibility, his emotions hoped for the first.

No matter which one was true, he still wanted to be on good terms with Zhan Jin.

“Your eyes keep turning. What are you thinking about?”

Zhan Lue’s voice suddenly sounded beside his ear. Xian Sheng immediately opened his eyes and asked unhappily, “How do you know that my eyes are turning around?”

“Your eyelids kept moving.”

Zhan Lue lowered his body and planted his arms on the pillow, resting his weight on them. He asked, “Could you be missing me?”

“I don’t miss you.” Xian Sheng twisted his face aside. After a while, he turned his head back slowly and asked, “I heard that you wanted to let Zhan Jin go to the military camp just now?”
