Fenrir: The Wolf Overlord

Chapter 12 - Quirk Apprehension Test

At the school grounds, Cipher sighed out in relief as he finally got a chance to get some peaceful time by himself.

He glanced at that bastard Yoarashi, who finally left him alone and was going around introducing himself to other people.

'Couldn't you do that earlier, you annoying bastard?'

He cursed out and decided not to think of him anymore. Thankfully, no one was trying to talk to him. So, he silently turned his head and looked at his teacher, Aizawa.

"You have done these physical tests in your Middle School. Your standard gym tests where your quirks were not allowed."

Cipher listened to him patiently, even though he didn't know anything about middle school or gym tests. All of his classmates also turned quiet all of a sudden.

"This country still insists on prohibiting quirks when calculating the average of those records. It is not rational at all. Well, The ministry of education is just procastinating."

Speaking up to here, Aizawa slowly turned his head around the students who were spread out. He made eye contact with Cipher who was staying at a corner, clearly avoiding all the others. Moments later, he looked at a boy with spiky blonde hair.

"Bakugou, you finished at the top of the practical exam, right?"

When everyone got their attention on Bakugou who got mentioned by Aizawa, Cipher also looked at the kid. He was trying to memorize all the names of his classmates, even though he wasn't sure whether he would use it.

"What was you best result for the softball throw in middle school?"

"67 meters."

"Then, try doing it with your quirk."

Bakugou nodded his head and walked forward. Cipher curiously watched him receive a ball in his hands and enter a circle drawn on the ground. He was wondering if this was the so called test.

"You can do whatever you want as long as you don't leave the circle. Hurry up and give it all you have got."

Bakugou suddenly grinned and started stretching his arms out. Moments later, he pulled his hand back and proceeded to throw the ball.

"Dieeee....."

He shouted out as he threw the ball. An explosion occurred and a trail of smoke followed behind the ball.

Cipher noted his quirk and sighed at the corner, realizing that there was another annoying guy in his class.

'First, that annoying bastard. Then the red head. And now this kid... Who is gonna reveal himself now?"

When he was in his own thoughts, Aizawa nooded his head and showed a device to everyone else. It read 705.2 m on it.

"It is important for us to know our limits. That is the first logical step to figuring out what kind of heroes you'll become."

"705 meter? Seriously?"

"So we can use our quirks for real. Man the hero course is great."

"Whoa!! This is awesome.

Cipher heard many voices from the others but the one that was the loudest and the most annoying was still to come.

"So cool!! Just like I thought, the most passionate high school life is waiting for me."

".... Is it interesting?"

Aizawa suddenly spoke out in a gloomy way. Everyone became silent as soon as he spoke.

"You are hoping to be heroes after three years here... And you think it will be all fun and games?"

His voice had a spooky tone attached to it but it didn't spook Cipher at all. Instead, it sort of excited him as this teacher was the best he could ask for. Logical and Rational at all times, unlike most of the heroes.

"All right. Whoever comes in last place in all tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished in instant expulsion."

Cipher grinned as these words further confirmed the fact that this teacher was the best. But unlike him, many of his classmates gasped in horror.

He specifically noted the look of horror pasted in Izuku Midoriya, the kid who seems to have some kind of connection with the one hero he hates the most, All Might.

"We are free to do whatever we want about the circ.u.mstances of our students. Basically, your fates are in my hands...

Welcome, this is the hero course at U.A High."

Aizawa finished with a huge sinister grin on his face.

"But it is only the first day. Even if it wasn't, that is really unfair."

Somebody posed a question. In response, he simply put his hands inside the pockets of his pants and started speaking.

"Natural disasters, big accidents, highway pileups, rampaging villains.... Calamity is always right around the corner. I say that Japan is full of unfair things.. Heroes are the one who who correct all that unfairness."

"If you were hoping to spend out your evening, hanging out with your friends, then I am sorry to tell you. For the next 3 years, U.A will do all it can to give you one hardship after another."

"Go Beyond. Plus Ultra."

He spoke out in a really unmotivated way. But this was enough to make a huge grin appear on Cipher's face.

'This teacher... Aizawa Shota, Erasurehead.. He is the first. The first hero to speak about the real truth unlike all those who hold onto foolish ideals.'

He stared at Aizawa with a gaze full of awe, and nodded his head approvingly.

'You have earned my respect, Aizawa.'

"All right. The demonstration is over. From here on, it is the real deal."

~~~~~
First test: 50-m dash
Cipher silently noted all the quirks shown by the others. When it was finally his turn to attend the test, everyone was completely stunned.
"4.01 seconds!! Really? I didn't even see him use his quirk?"
He heard someone speak from his back but he didn't pay much attention to it. The thing he had to do was to get away from Yoarashi who was approaching him with a wide smile on his face.
Second Test: Grip Strength
Cipher got a result of 287 kg. Fortunately, he managed to keep a low profile even though some still noticed his result.
Third Test: Standing Long Jump
Fourth Test: Repeated Side-Steps
Fifth Test: Long Distance Run
Sixth Test: Sit Up
Seventh Test: Seated Toe Touch
Cipher managed to get above average results in all the tests. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to keep a low profile on most of it. But in the end, it wasn't like he gave a shit about it.
Eight Test: Ball Throw
It was finally the time for the last test. A round faced girl just got a infinity score, surprising almost everyone. And now, it was the turn for Midoriya to attend the test.
'This kid. Even though he seems to have a connection with All Might, he doesn't seem to have much skill nor strength.'
Cipher thought as he silently watched Midoriya walking forward with a fearful expression. He really found it difficult to believe that someone who the number one hero seems to be fond of, was this weak and easily scared.
He clicked his tongue disappointed, when Midoriya finally managed to get a good result after a hell lot of drama. But the end result, one of his fingers was broken.
'He can't even control his powers. He isn't interesting at all... I don't know why are you giving him so much focus, All Might?'
Cipher questioned out inside his mind and turned in the direction of the school building. He then made eye contact with the person who was stealthily spying on the kid. It was none other than All Might.
All Might flinched greatly when he realized he has been exposed. But he soon remembered that Cipher had a extreme sense of smell. So he shrugged and motioned Cipher to keep quiet with a finger on his lips.
Cipher simply nodded his head still disappointed, and turned back. Midoriya was finally leaving the circle and approaching the crowd present on his side.
He walked forward without waiting for Aizawa to speak up. He was the last one to attend this test, so he had no worry about taking someone else's place.
He passed all of his classmates and glared at Midoriya on the way. After that, he received a ball from Aizawa and walked inside the circle.
"Cipher!!"
Aizawa called out and he turned his head to look at him with a blank expression.
"I will say this only once. You better get better results or you will be the one to get expelled."
"What!?"
Cipher was surprised. Not only him, but all the other were surprised as well.
"What do you mean, Teacher? He has got amazing result in all the tests. How can he be expelled?"
Yoarashi shouted out loudly from far behind. He had somehow come to see Cipher as his rival, so there was no way he was going to watch him get expelled. But his way of help didn't help Cipher but just annoyed him.
On the other hand, Aizawa turned to look at Yoarashi and then back at Cipher with a really unmotivated gaze.
"You were never serious in any of the tests."
"No? I was plenty serious."
Cipher spoke out straightforwardly.
"I said at the beginning that everyone is to give their all using their quirks but you never used your quirk. You never used your quirk in the recommendation exam as well... Did you believe that you will be a hero without even using your quirk, huh?"
Aizawa spoke out in an angry tone. His words didn't make Cipher waver at all because it wasn't like he was seriously trying to be a hero.
But his words did create a ruckus among his various classmates.
"He didn't use his quirk!!?"
"Now that I think, I heard a rumour that there was a person who passed at the top of the recommendation exam without even using his quirk.. Was it him?"
"What? Is that rumour really true?"
Many opinions were going back and forth. Cipher looked at all those people and sighed tiredly. He still didn't know why people can find things like this so interesting.
"Aizawa, what if my quirk is not combat related?"
Cipher questioned out. He had not used any honorofics but Aizawa didn't seem to care about it.
"I have received a report about you. It clearly describes that you have a combat related quirk. So, hurry up and do it."
Cipher sighed as he could easily think about someone who might give information about his quirk, without even thinking of the pros and cons. He stretched his hands out, intending on using his quirk for a little while.
"But before that, Midoriya."
Aizawa suddenly called for Midoriya. Cipher too stopped hearing his call. He blankly looked at Aizawa and Midoriya, fully knowing where the conversation was going to go.
"You should take Cipher for example. From what I saw, your body was too weak to handle the backlash of your quirk. That's why your limbs broke when you used it. If you train your body as much as him, then you will surely be able to handle your power."
"... Does that mean.."
By now, the opinions of everyone had basically ended. So, all of them were paying close attention to what he was going to say.
"Yes. Cipher has trained his body so much that his strength alone has exceeded the capacity of a normal human."
Midoriya and many other gasped out. He then turned his head to look at Cipher with a look of disbelief.
Cipher just scoffed at the gaze since it irritated him to no ends, especially when he remembered the previous drama.
"Aizawa, I am going to throw the ball."
He spoke out and Aizawa nodded his head approvingly.
"You can throw it now. And you better be serious this time."
Cipher snorted and grabbed the ball with all his might. Moments later, his grip on the ball started increasing as the muscles of his right arm became more ripped beneath the sleeve. His nails also grew out to be dangerous sharp claws.
After that, he brought his hand towards his back and soon brought it forward at amazing speed, while letting his hold on the ball to loosen mid way.
The ball flew out of his hands and created a shock wave. A few seconds later, the device on Aizawa's hand blinked and showed his result.
Aizawa looked at the result and grinned. He then showed it to Cipher with the grin still on his face.
"971m. At least you didn't disappoint me, kid."
"That's to be expected."
Cipher blankly spoke as his right arm returned to the way it was before. He then walked out of the circle while trying his best not to listen to the ruckus happening on the other side.
