Chapter 17: The Ending

Lin Yi glared at Wei Luan and lowered her voice. She leaned closer to him and said coldly, “What’s wrong? Do you have a problem walking straight in front of the girl of your dreams? Do I have to call you twice before you come over?”

Wei Luan was so angry that his face turned red.

He had not questioned her for seeing Jing Yan, yet she had misunderstood him!

“Come with me!” Lin Yi did not give Wei Luan a chance to explain as she pulled him into her old bedroom.

After entering the room, Lin Yi closed the door, ignoring everyone’s gazes.

Outside the door, Jing Yan frowned and looked at Lan Hui. “Huihui, what did you say to Wei Luan just now? I thought you didn’t know him well.”

Obviously, Lin Yi’s words had made Jing Yan notice Lan Hui’s abnormal behavior, and he was a little unhappy.

Lan Hui was very angry when she saw Jing Yan’s face because it reminded her of all the misfortunes she had experienced after marrying Jing Yan in her previous life.

In her previous life, Lan Hui and Jing Yan were together. After graduating from university, the two of them got married.

Jing Yan joined the government with the help of his family, and Lan Hui also became a civil servant at the Provincial Tax Bureau. Both of them had good jobs. The villagers were very envious that Lan Hui had married someone from the city. They all said that she was a lucky woman.

At that time, Lan Hui thought so too, but reality slapped her hard in the face.

Lan Hui was from the countryside. Not only was Jing Yan’s family rich, but they were also very powerful in the provincial capital. His parents naturally looked down on Lan Hui’s background. If Lan Hui had not become a civil servant, they probably would not have agreed to this marriage.

After getting married, Lan Hui went through a lot to keep a good relationship with her mother-in-law. Even then, Jing Yan’s mother still did not like her.

Lan Hui complained to her husband about it, but Jing Yan did not take it seriously. He even said that she was too sensitive!

The grievances at home were one thing, but outside, Jing Yan’s parents also despised Lan Hui. They felt that her every word and action lacked grace. They were embarrassed to take her out and worried she would get mocked by their relatives and friends.

At first, only Jing Yan’s parents felt this way. As time progressed, even Jing Yan stopped taking Lan Hui out to socialize. He disliked her for lacking eloquence and knowledge and felt she was undignified. She was nothing short of a bumpkin.

Lan Hui was completely isolated by the Jing family!

Under such circumstances, her relationship with Jing Yan became increasingly distant. The two of them did not have sex for more than half a year. Jing Yan was not interested in her, and her mother-in-law still mocked her for being a hen who could not lay eggs. She urged her to quickly give birth to a son and even bought her a lot of bitter Chinese medicine to aid with conception.

Two years later, Lan Hui was finally pregnant. She was very happy and thought that the child in her belly would help her secure her status in the family.

Unexpectedly, the family only treated her as a tool for making babies and did not respect her. They kept accusing her of not taking good care of the fetus.

Lan Hui was even more devastated when she discovered that Jing Yan had cheated on her more than once when she was pregnant!

Lan Hui cried and asked Jing Yan for an explanation, but Jing Yan said that he no longer loved her. After giving birth, he would give her a sum of money and divorce her.

Looking at the man’s heartless and cold expression, Lan Hui completely lost all hope.

The past resurfaced in her mind like a nightmare. Lan Hui, who was standing in front of Jing Yan, clenched her fists tightly and said in a cold tone, “Do you suspect me of doing something? Then just stop dating me. Is that enough? Are you happy now?”

With that, Lan Hui left without looking back.

Behind her, Jing Yan’s eyes widened.

What was wrong with Lan Hui?

He was not suspicious of her. He just wanted an explanation.

Did he not even have the right to ask when he saw her being so close to another man?

“Huihui, that’s not what I meant!” Jing Yan hurriedly chased after her.

“Come and help me carry these boxes home after you’re done with your work.”

Lin Yi quickly packed her things. She did not have many things left, so two small boxes were enough for her stuff.

“Move home?” Wei Luan was a little surprised as he looked up at Lin Yi.

Was she planning to stay with him long-term?

“Where else? Are you dying to divorce me? Do you want Lan Hui that badly?” Lin Yi sat on the bed in the dormitory and looked at Wei Luan with a sinister smile.

Lin Yi did not know how much Wei Luan liked Lan Hui now. In the novel, she remembered Wei Luan silently sponsoring Lan Hui ever since she went to university. He was a very affectionate supporting actor.

Lin Yi did not know why she was so angry when she saw Lan Hui and Wei Luan whispering to each other. Even now, she was upset.

“That’s nonsense. I have no intention of doing that.”
