Fate's Game [GL]

Chapter 45 - Aftermath I

After the kidnapping incident the Evan mansion was in turmoil, the party was dissolved that night and the host made sure no other casualties were present, before sending off all the guests.

Thereafter, the servants and security were tip toeing on thin ice, searching for their young missing miss in the whole mansion, absolutely no one wanted to take the responsibility of being under Sasha's wrath.

Speaking of Sasha, after combing through every corner and niche in the mansion to no avail; he was in an irritated mood.

He acknowledging that Emilié was really taken under his watch and let his man expand the search, leaving no stone unturned in K City and the area around it to find Emilié.

Bethea drank her tea, sitting in the living room across from Sasha, who was impatiently tapping on the armrest, darting his eyes on the wall clock every few minutes.

"Be more patient Sasha, your man are doing all they can to find Emilié. Why don't you take a break and go rest. You were up all night, a bit of shut eye wouldn't hurt anyone." Sayed Bethea concerned, placing her cup gently on the table.

Sasha took off his gaze from the ticking clock, narrowing them while directing it at Bethea.

"You.. actually don't care do you?" His tone laced with an unidentifiable sharpness.

"W-What?" Bethea was thrown off a bit. She just expressed her concern to him, why did he switch it to some kind of accusation.

"What do you mean?" She asked puzzled.

"I'm worrying my heads off for our daughter's sake and you're here sitting calmly and slurping on your cup of tea, as if it is not your own flesh and blood that was kidnapped in your own home!" he accused.

Bethea felt a bit offended, she might not care much for Emilié, but she was still hurt her child was taken, even a tigress wouldn't eat her cub!

And who would like having a foreign intruder -other then Marcus- invading her space of safety.

Please tell her!

"And what makes you think I don't care? God may forbid, it could have been Leevi or even Valentin, who could have been taken!"

She might seem to be, but if she wasn't the one to stay calm, then who will check if everything is in order and won't end in a bigger mess?

Sasha!

As if! In Bethea's eyes, he himself was a big mess right now.

Yet she knew, she can never say that to him in his state, better let herself be spared from an angry irrational rant.

But, however she maneuvers the conversation with her exceptional acting skills, a rant was impending.

"Hmph." snorted Sasha coldly. "You immediately jump to your defences when it's involving Leevi and Valentin. They are NOT the one kidnapped, why worry about them when they're perfectly fine?!" Sasha grumbled peeved.

Bethea just stared at him wide eyed. Was he serious? Did he think Valentin and Leevi were just fine after all those events happening?

Leevi was crying the entire night asking if something bad happened until he fell asleep, he was a pitiful and confused child who right now needs reassurance that everything was ok; and Valentin...

"Are you joking with me Sasha?" Bethea asked incredulously.

"What is there to joke about!" He talked coldly back.

"Valentin was covered in blood when we found her!" she snapped irritatingly, finally his frigid state crawling under her skin.

"And now the poor girl has a fever and is haunted by nightmares, deliriously talking in her sleep about how sorry she is. Don't you care about her?"

"She should be sorry! Afterall, it is her fault that Emilié even could be taken. How dare she lead her out of the venue, to vent her petty dissatisfaction out on her little sister! She has no shame at all!" Sasha ranted, giving his eldest daughter not the sliver of doubt that maybe, something else occurred in that side room Emilié was taken in.

Well, the evidence that she hurt Emilié was loud and clear so.. what was there to doubt.

"You-" Bethea swallowed back her comment, breathing in deeply while chanting in her head to calm down 'keep calm, no need to argue with a bad-tempered, overprotective father'; she almost calmed down just to be choked by indignation by Sasha.

"I what! Am I wrong?! If Valentin only once granted her little sister the attention she got on this one night, without lashing out like a jealous b*tch, all this wouldn't have happened in the first place!" Sasha cursed out loud.

All his manners were thrown out the window, unclothing his rough military personality, that was cultivated by the time he spend in the military barracks.

Bethea was shell-shocked, she felt like everything around her was a ruse to trick her into something, but even she had to look reality in the eye. "What a cold blooded father are you..."

How can he call his own daughter a b*itch? Bethea couldn't comprehend anything anymore.

Was this the Sasha she knew and loved, for whom she gave up so many things?

Sasha sprung up from his seat growling at Bethea, his rationality having snapped a long time ago.

"You're the last person I wanna hear that from. Now if you excuse me I have something more important to do."

Bethea likewise stood up, her hurt gaze concentrated on him. "Sasha where are you going?"

Sasha didn't spare her a glance, while spitting "None of your business" he walked out the door.

Sleepy babble:

I'm to sleepy to go on my PC to write on the actual Author's two cents page like I always do.

So I'll do it like this.

Hope you enjoyed this chap even though Sasha is really childish and mean. WT.. heck is that kind of behaviour? I don't know. I'll ask my brain about what it thought, the next time it's active.

Good Night🥰
