On the other hand, the man who had frozen in place for a while before realising that Mo Ci had disappeared, walked into the office with small fast strides.

As soon as he entered, he couldn’t hide his excitement and asked: “Boss, did you see the group of beautiful women sitting in the lounge area?”

Mo Ci ignored the man and switched on his computer.

“I didn’t expect to see so many pretty ladies applying for the job after the rumour about your involvement with RESET leaked out. Did you notice the prettiest among them? She’s a top-notch beauty, not even a celebrity can look as good as her. This time, we tech geeks are in luck.”

The man chattered on and on, causing Mo Ci to frown.

“Boss! Boss?” The man continued to chatter: “Can you at least react to the sight of such a beautiful woman?”

“Xiang Yi.” Mo Ci spoke slowly, raising his eyes to glance at the man before returning his gaze to the translucent screen: “Do your job well, stop focusing on women.”

Xiang Yi grimaced: “We’re mortals, not like you who are cultivating immortality and avoiding women.” He muttered in a low voice: “If I had such a beautiful woman as a colleague, I would be willing to work overtime every day.”

Mo Ci recalled the appearance he had just seen and stated coldly: “Beautiful as it may be but that’s all.”

Didn’t this sentence translate as pretty is pretty, but that’s all about it?

Xiang Yi stammered: “Holy shit, no way big bro. You don’t even like this level of beauty? Don’t tell me that you are really interested in men, do you?”

Mo Ci raised his eyes to look at Xiang Yi again. His gaze was so cold that it sent chills down his spine, and Xiang Yi immediately switched his manner into a boot-licker: “I’m just kidding, just joking, don’t take it seriously, you mustn’t treat it too seriously.”

There’s nothing to be gained by angering this man.

“Keep a careful eye on the people who come for interviews today, and it’s best to have a background check on all of them.” Mo Ci continued and returned his focus to the translucent light screen in front of him as if he was searching for something.

“Yes, yes, yes, I know. If we find anyone sent by YAYAO, hire them immediately. You’ve instructed it several times.” Xiang Yi answered impatiently: “And I don’t know why you deliberately want to lure commercial spies into the company.”

Mo Ci pretended not to hear him, found the file he wanted, and his eyes showed a smile. Then he pulled out a set of numbers and sent it to Xiang Yi: “Go check if this beta account is activated. If it is, check the username of the player in the game.”

Xiang Yi was surprised: “Aren’t you testing the game at home and you’ve purposely come back to the company just for this?”

The game had been tested several times by the technical staff before the beta test-launched for Desolate Forest of Demons. Yet, Mo Ci was still worried about it and insisted to start as an ordinary player in the beta test to check through all the upgrades and levelling.

On the one hand, they wanted to see the feedback from the players, while on the other hand, they wanted to look for loopholes in the game.

However, RESET had just been set up not long ago and hadn’t recruited enough employees. The game was still in the beta phase and the whole technical department was too busy.

Predicting that there would be more players going on the sex quests route for levelling, it was painful to draw out two people from the technical department for testing. However, Mo Ci still doubted it and insisted that the monster killing route should be tested as well.

The technical department really couldn’t spare any more staff, so in the end, Mo Ci had to do it himself.

Testing a game for bugs required an insider who knows what he’s doing. As a result, he, the game’s lead designer, had to test it himself and gather his own teammates too.

This was just a week after the beta had launched so why didn’t he focus on testing the game properly but come back to check on some beta account?

This was not his style of doing things.

“I heard from XingYan that you had a fall out with XingHuoLiaoYuan yet Wen Zi didn’t go online. Now there are only three people left in the five-man party, what are you going to do?” Xiang Yi asked.

Mo Ci looked slightly glum but ignored him.

Speaking of this, Xiang Yi suddenly remembered something and continued: “By the way, didn’t you ask me to check on Wen Zi’s information previously.” He shrugged helplessly: “We have already left YAYAO so more detailed information is not that easy to obtain. We’ve only found out that the identity profile was fake and the contact number was also unavailable. However, the address of the game ID is often online in this city.”

“This city?” Mo Ci’s eyes twitched slightly.

“Hmm.” Xiang Yi nodded and suddenly looked like he was enlightened: “Did you ask me to look into all this because you just want to get in touch with Wen Zi face to face?”

Mo Ci didn’t reply but his deep pupils were slightly deepened as if he was deep in thought.

Xiang Yi saw his expression and also felt slightly disappointed: “Wen Zi is too mysterious. He never talks in voice chat, and all the chats never involve any real-life stuff. We all get along so well but he doesn’t even leave a way to communicate. There is only one chat app to reach him after going offline and it’s a newly registered account.”

“Could it be that he is unpresentable?”

Mo Ci had asked Xiang Yi to check on this information because he had some sort of guesses in his mind. Now, when he heard of the result, he probably had an answer.

It was a ‘she’ undoubtedly.

Just that he was unsure if ‘she’ had played the Desolate Forest of Demons and if so, who could she be.

Perhaps.

A certain figure flashed through his mind.

He thought that he should know who it was now.

However, it’s impossible to be reassured about such things without complete certainty.

After a moment of silence, he whispered: “No need to check about Wen Zi anymore, go check the beta testing accounts and give me the results by today.”

“Today? I’m afraid it’s impossible.” Xiang Yi shook his head regretfully: “The game had just launched the beta testing so the technical department is too busy to have any spare time.” Before he could finish his sentence, he saw the gloomy expression on the person in front of him, Xiang Yi instantly nodded and answered: “Ok, I’ll go check it later by myself.”

After waiting for a while, he didn’t receive any follow-up instruction so he had planned to leave.

When he reached the door, he heard the person behind him say: “By the way, give my account more gold, and get me another set of full attribute level 35 mage and assassin equipment.”

Xiang Yi froze for a moment and returned to ask: “Didn’t you say that you want to test the game according to the ordinary player levelling process? You aren’t really playing it so what’s the point of getting all this setup?”

Mo Ci leaned back and sat lazily in his chair and replied: “I suddenly feel like playing it again.”

“Huh?”

Xiang Yi felt that Mo Ci must have taken the wrong kind of medicine today and was totally uncharacteristic.

“Think about it, there are sex quests everywhere after level 60. I thought you were definitely not touching this.” He was very confused: “Yin XingYan was fooled by you into focusing only on the sex quest route, yet you suddenly feel like playing it now?”

Mo Ci stared at the translucent beta testing account in front of him, and raised his lips with a smirk: “Don’t worry about this and just do what I said.”

Xiang Yi scratched his head, he couldn’t guess what the boss was thinking so he just agreed to it.
