[So I mistook the author’s word of posting 6K words, I thought she meant 6k wordings in a chapter but it was like 6k words worth of chapters, if you get me. So this is [mistakenly] Chapter 8 Pt 2 AKA [correctly] Chapter 9, will fix it later.]

The days passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was the end of September, meaning Tuoba Yan had been decocting at home for more than a month.

Qiao Chunyi’s colleagues at the supermarket all said that Qiao Chunyi seemed to be feeling happier recently because the smile on her face was never faltering, unlike before when it was always sad and gloomy. Of course, there was no other reason than the fact that her daughter, Tuoba Yan, had become much more sensible and mature after she was rescued from her suicide attempt.

Every time the neighbors from the elderly home bumped into her, they wouldn’t stop praising Qiao Chunyi for raising such a good daughter. After careful inquiry, she found out that Tuoba Yan was very active in the compound these days. She often talked with the lonely elders whose children went out to work and helped them take out the garbage and collect the quilts. She helped them plant vegetables and fertilized them together, and led them to do simple exercises. She even helped them carry rice bags and gas tanks!

Mrs. Zhang, the meanest and the most cunning woman in the compound, took Qiao Chunyi’s hands and insisted on introducing someone to Tuoba Yan. She nagged about her distant grandnephew’s success, saying that although he was only a university student, hadn’t Tuoba Yan dropped out of school? These two were simply born to be a couple. The annoyed Qiao Chunyi would always dodge her when she saw Mrs. Zhang from afar, in fear that she would attempt to become a matchmaker for Tuoba Yan again.

Her family’s YanYan was only 18 years old and she still needed to continue her last year of high school and go to university next year!

Qiao Chunyi was still surprised at the thought of Tuoba Yan carrying the rice bags and gas tanks, so she asked while beating about the bush. Tuoba Yan replied:

“Grandma Li’s bag of rice was only a few pounds, and I could lift it with one hand. The tallest building in the compound is only five stories, so if we can’t even climb at least five stories, wouldn’t we be like the invalids? And the other thing is, Aunt Qiao said that moderate exercise can be rehabilitative. I feel more energetic than I did before. Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”

So like this, Tuoba Yan slipped past Qiao Chunyi.

Tuoba Yan’s days were also very comfortable. In order to supplement her nutrition, Qiao Chunyi stewed bone soup every day and bought fresh and cheap big bones from the market. Although there was not much meat in it, the soup was very delicious. Tuoba Yan also used her homemade medicines such as astragalus and other medicines and told Qiao Chunyi that they were discounted products bought in a pharmacy.

Qiao Chunyi didn’t know that her daughter was so bold and courageous that she would go to the herbal market to find good ingredients and happily stew them in the soup. The mother and daughter would drink nourishing soup every day and their daily diet was regular and healthy. Their skin soon turned to a healthy, white rosy hue. Their spirits were different from before

The change of Tuoba Yan was more noticeable than that of Qiao Chunyi. The girl’s original appearance followed her mother. She was very pretty and eye-catching formerly but after she started suffering from anorexia and mental problems, her body became thin and shapeless. Her complexion became yellow and haggard like a layer of waxy leather covering bones. Even if there is a saying that the ‘beauty is in the bones, not in the skin’, no one would appreciate a skeleton.

Now, her body was recovering. In addition, Tuoba Yan had been taking the medicine which replenished and nourished her blood, and after the wound on her wrist had healed, she started to soak it regularly every 3 days in a medicinal bath. Finally, the hideous scars on her wrists were quickly healed under the miraculous effect of the medicine. No one would have guessed that this beautiful girl, with her delicate skin and charming face, was suffering from a mental illness two months ago.

Tuoba Yan’s body was built for practicing martial arts, even though she was a bit old to start. But in the past, General Tuoba Yan did not have the foundations for a practitioner who had learned from childhood. During that time, for the sake of avenging her paternal grandfather, she searched for a great master to study under.  With her extraordinary perseverance, she surpassed her elder martial brother in martial arts, who had been practicing martial arts since childhood. It wasn’t until the fatuous emperor had confined her to the Buddhist temple that she had become discouraged and uninterested in life. She had been tortured for many years without any help from the imperial guards had caused her to kill herself by slitting her throat.

Of course, the suicide was a black history for Tuoba Yan. She had thought more than once that if she ever were to go back to that time, she would absolutely not let off the fatuous Emperor and lowly bit*h An. Even if she was to die, she would watch that dog man and woman1a man and a woman in an indecent relationship going to hell first, and then, breathe her final breath.

Tuoba Yan went out to exercise as usual at four o’clock that morning. It was six o’clock by the time she returned home with a bag of deep-fried dough sticks. At first, Qiao Chunyi was embarrassed to let her daughter go out to buy food so she hid in her room and slept in. But after Tuoba Yan insisted on it, she got used to it.

She was brushing her teeth in the bathroom when she heard Tuoba Yan open the door and enter the house, “I’m back. We’re having fried breadsticks today!”

Qiao Chunyi quickly rinsed her mouth, washed her face, tied up her short hair, and poked her head out to face her daughter, who was still in her sportswear and said, “YanYan, today, it’s mom’s turn to take the car out of town for publicity. You know where I keep the money. I won’t be home until 7:00 p.m so you’re on your own. Don’t forget to eat and take your medicines.”

Tuoba Yan grinned and gestured an OK sign. “You still don’t trust me?”

Qiao Chunyi laughed and said, “Little girl! Go quickly wash your hands and come eat the breadsticks.”

After a simple breakfast, Qiao Chunyi drank the soy milk from her bowl and wiped the corners of her mouth with a napkin, “I’m running late. You brush and clean the soy-milk machine today since there’s no time for me to do that.” With that said, she put on her shoes and carried her bags downstairs.

Tuoba Yan hummed as she cleaned the soymilk machine. She also cleaned the house spotlessly and put the garbage bags at the entrance door before returning to her room to surf the internet.

“Where should I go today…..” She pinched her chin and looked at the electronic map. These days, she had been taking the bus to run around the old urban areas of Yuchuan. As she used her mouse to scan across the electric map, a place’s name caught Tuoba Yan’s eyes.

Yuchuan Film and TV Base, located in Huai’an District, Yuchuan City, Central Xinjiang Province, is the largest film and television studio in Central Xinjiang Province.

Tuoba Yan remembered the various TV dramas she watched on her computer, and tapped the yellow circle on the screen representing the Yuchuan Film and Television Base: “Let’s go here.”

Having access to the internet was very convenient. Although she had never been to Huai’an District, she could still find many clear and detailed bus routes. Tuoba Yan saved the route map on her phone and got dressed to go out to this very mysterious place.

After two bus transfers, Tuobayan successfully arrived at the east gate of the film and television studio. The ancient towering gate was very eye-catching. She walked to a bulletin board and looked at the instructions above. Only then did she find that she had to pay to enter the studio, which made her greatly disappointed.

Tuoba Yan put her hands in her trouser pockets and looked around. At the entrance, she saw people coming in and going out, either with tickets or with a “pass”.

She was observing whether she could sneak in or not. All of a sudden, Tuoba Yan felt like she was being targeted by something. Her eyes flashed akin to lightning, only to see a female student holding up her phone to take a picture of her.

Since her rebirth, her body had grown another two centimeters, so now, her height was 169cm/5ft 6. Even if she stopped growing later, her height was considered tall, and paired up with her beautiful and outstanding appearance, this little student meimei2Meimei means little sister must have thought that Tuoba Yan was a little star and wanted to take photos secretly.

Tuoba Yan trusted her intuition; the girl hadn’t pressed the shutter yet. She straightened her arms and waved her hand, signaling not to take pictures, and turned to leave.

After circling the entrance twice, Tuoba Yan still couldn’t find an opportunity to sneak in. Again, she felt a burning stare from someone and thought it was another person trying to steal a picture of her. She never thought it would be stumpy, 30-something years old man. “Hello, are you here to wait for the live group performance?”

Tuoba Yan noticed the staff pass hanging around his neck and her eyes flickered: “Uh, not really, I…..”

The man looked very anxious, he quickly said, “We are the crew of   《Blood Sacrifice》  and I’m the assistant director in charge of casting actors, surnamed Chen. Something had happened and now there’s a vacant female role available. Your appearance seems suitable for it so would you like to give it a try? The salary can be settled on a daily basis.”

Tuoba Yan was a bit tempted but she felt something off in this situation. Why was he so anxious to pull a person from the street?

She was self-confident in her martial arts skills and wasn’t afraid of this assistant casting director Chen, so she thought about it and agreed. The security guard at the entrance recognized him and easily let Tuoba Yan in with him.
