Chapter 5 - Can't Get Away

❝Lost my way,

In hope for the good dreams and bigger gleams,

The path just took a turn and got longer,

But the path didn't know so it foolishly laughed,

The path I lost in was my real path.

Y/N's P.O.V-

Blank. Colorlessness. A pure form of white...

A dull ear-splitting sound retaining to tear the nerves apart...

It rose, slowly but steadily, surely.

...

...

Where am I?

I blinked my eyes continuously trying to perceive everything. My vision was slightly hazy. As it slowly started to clear off, I found out, I was standing in the corridor of a building. The place, too familiar to my eyes, but not enough to make me recall where I had seen it. A lot of people were passing by me in a hurry. 'Hello!' I tried to get a passerby girl's attention to which she didn't even try to give notice. 'Excuse me! Hello!' I tried again calling some other but they just continued their walk.

What's wrong with people? Why aren't they listening to me? Have I become invisible or what?

The corridor was gradually becoming vacant as people were leaving one by one. After a second, my ears caught a faint sound of a door getting shut behind my standing self. I looked back at the only person coming in. Soon my heartbeat dropped...

Then started to beat faster in the speed of light. Sweats of fear wetted and started dripping off my forehead. My vocal cords stuttered, denying to even speak the name out loud, so it prepared a question, craving for its answer to be a no. Is that-

He brought his head up, now facing me clearly. The slow confused heart now entirely lost its regular rhythm, going out of control. The uttermost fear it held, repeated that one sentence inside my brain, the least answer I wanted to gain-

It was him.

The one whose presence polluted my darkest days more. The one whom I now feared most, the one who appeared in my darkest nightmares, as the main lead.

I screamed in a high-pitched tone, but my voice was shaking, 'You! What are you doing here?' No reply came from him. He just stared at me and stepped forward.

'Step back!' I yelled, that he didn't pay heed to, continuing his proceeds. 'I said don't...!' I hopelessly looked around to the people if I could get some help. But just then I found out that I was the only one standing in the narrow long corridor.

He took his steps one by one, decreasing the distance between our two figures. With the last drop of strength left, I decided to sprint in his opposite direction. My ears perceived only those fast footsteps of his, following me.

I ran and ran, wherever I could find a way to go through, to get away from him. I reached a nearby room and stopped to take a breath. Before I could shut the door, a slender hand pushed the door to resist and a figure came in. He locked the door, and the room turned total dark.

'Why can't you leave me alone? Why? I want to get rid of you. Please!' I begged, running inside like a trapped guinea pig, desperate to discover a way out. However, there was only that one way out which was blocked by him.

'Please...' Silent tears fell down my cheeks like monsoon rain. I could hear, the sky thundered outside, the sky of my world, that was ready to shatter to pieces. All I could hear was a loud evil laugh, that kept buzzing in my ear. It just kept coming closer. And closer...

A demon.

I opened my eyes and sat up on the bed, panting heavily. My whole body was covered with sweat, my throat had turned dry. I poured down some water in the glass kept on the bedside table and drank to the last drop of it. My hands were trembling so much that I couldn't even hold it alright.

After all these days, why did I have the same dream again? I got rid of the memory, the horrific part of my dark sunny days a long time ago. At least I think I did...

Why?

I took a deep breath and looked out of the window. The sky had met the last red shades of the sun before it finally comes out.

Back at that time, I was weak and afraid. I couldn't stand up for myself. But now, I have changed. The present Y/N is strong, confident. I am not hiding in the closet in fear anymore.

My eyes had probably shut down themselves at the last third part of the night even though I wasn't feeling sleepy. I stretched and got myself out of the bed. Maybe a shower will help me improve the condition. I will also have to inform the boss at the restaurant about my leave for some days.

Another day to lead, another opportunity to live some happy seconds, and I, didn't want to ruin it at all.

>>>>TWO WEEKS LATER>>>>

I moved my leg a bit and span around. The pain and uneasiness I expected were not there anymore.

The phone ringtone reached my ears. As soon as I received the call, Liza's mild screaming voice nearly had me deaf.

'Y/N! How are you? How's your leg?'

'A lot better. I think I'll be joining the work within some days. Thanks for your concern, sweetie.'

'Thank goodness! I visited you once on the weekend but you forbid me to do so afterward...'

'Well, I didn't want you to skip your shift. But instead, you called me like ten times a day. What about that?'

'Well, I was worried!' I could sense her pout, 'You should have been more careful.'

'I just got a mild degree sprained ankle. Nothing major. But, saranghaeyo!'

'I love you too! Now as you can walk, you are going out to somewhere with me.'

'Where?' I arched a brow.

'I won't tell you now. Come out quick. I'm waiting outside.' I glanced out the window, finding Liza waving in this direction from her car. I asked, 'You are here already? You didn't inform me of anything earlier.'

'You'll get to know soon. Get dressed and be fast. I'm waiting!'

With the simple casual shirt and dark jeans put on, I was about to shut the closet door, just then a small box rolled out and fell down from the rack. I picked it up and opened the lid out of curiosity, as I couldn't recall when I ever had it in there. The removed lid opened up space inside, revealing a charm bracelet with my name engraved just in the middle. Just then I remembered, it was that bracelet, gifted by my mom... when I had turned sixteen.

In the arrival of the past sweet sad shaded memories, a nostalgic dismal smile appeared on my face. From the pests of dark pain and fireflies of happy days, I picked the glow from fireflies first, not willing to recall the past whole. I had kept in safely with me all the time but didn't wear it in a while, so I decided to wear it for the day. I glided it down my wrist attaching the hook behind.

'PEEEP!' A loud car horn came from outside signaling me to be faster. 'Coming!' I yelled.

I got in the passenger's seat and fastened my seat belt. Liza instantly hugged me tightly, making me almost suffocate for air. 'Bogo sh.i.p.seubnida!' she made a really cute face. I almost chuckled.

'Ah, come on now. You are talking as if we are meeting after ten years. Now can you please tell me where we are going?'

'Oh-kay, so, we are going to attend a fan sign.'

'What - a fansign? Boi, I'm leaving.' She clutched my sleeve and wailed, 'Why?'

'Cuz I'm not interested in your stupid idols?' I moved aside before she was practically about to throw fits at me, 'Why do you choose me as your partner all the time? Who gives you those passes anyway?'

'FYKI, I work really hard to manage those tickets. And one has to be really lucky.'

'What-eh-ver? And which idol is it again today?'

'Well,' Liza spoke pulling out her dramatic version, 'it's a boy band. A good one. I sent you their songs. And I swear you are gonna love them all.'

'Exo? Seventeen? Wanna One? Shinee? Big Bang? It's Seventeen, right?' I tried to make a guess. 'Well, you are close, but not correct.'

'I don't know much about these bands and artists so, who is it?'

'Okay. the name is...

'It's BTS!!!' She danced her hands in the air. My eyebrows reached their highest level, my mouth hung open until they couldn't open wider anymore.

'Oh.' I was about to roll my eyes, but instead, they widened to the size of saucers.

Wait!

.

.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat??!!!!!
