CHAPTER 93

She got home from work looking very exhausted as usual. Rather than eating, Andromeda took her bath and went straight to bed.

An hour later, she woke up to a call and struggled to answer it.

Honestly, she could not wait for the fashion show to be over as it would reduce the amount of her long-awaited stress and give her a better chance for planning and preparing for her goal.

Taking up her phone from the nightstand, Andromeda answered it and then put it on speaker and dropped it down at her side.

"Hello, Jun."

"Hi, Andromeda."

"Hi. What's up?"

"Nothing much. I just…" He hesitated before letting out a tired sigh.

Sensing this, her forehead wrinkled out a frown as she waited for him to speak to her or something like that.

Anything at all that could prove he was okay. Normally the Gu Jun she knew was chatty when with her but now…

"Jun, is anything the matter?" Andromeda pushed.

"Umm not really."

"Not really? Gu Jun, it is me. We have been friends since what, first grade? I know you. Now tell me, what exactly is wrong with you?"

He paused for a moment there. As much as she wanted to know, she still did not wish to rush it out of him still. He was never one to hide things from her as did she.

"Mum."

At the mention of that one word, her heart broke and the tears she did not know that she had prevented from surfacing after five good years of her life, finally resurfaced and spilt free down her tired face.

Although she did not speak, he could tell from her breathing he touched a nerve.

Unlike her, he lost his mother at a younger age, in his third year in junior high. And since then, he withdrew from everyone but he was lucky. Andromeda was there to be with him.

His father managed to carry on as well and when he was at the university, he lost his father too in a car accident.

Rumours went on about his father not being the same again after losing his wife and so, he committed suicide.

However, Gu Jun knew better. Ever since his father had a dispute with his brother about the company. He had complained to him once about how they tried to get him away from being the chairman of their shoe company.

Even when Gu Jun offered his help, his father refused it and said he would get it under his control.

Sadly, things got out of control and he experienced a brake failure and crashed. The car had exploded before anyone could try to help him out.

It broke Gu Jun so much when he learnt the truth. He already knew that someone was responsible as his father was one overly careful man.

Before leaving for work, he properly checked his car, having learnt things about cars from a mechanical engineer after his wife's car accident.

So a break failure, as he saw on the CCTV present, was likely impossible. His father would have noticed it.

With that Gu Jun swore to get revenge on those behind his father's death.

As much as he would have withdrawn still, Andromeda supported him, aiding and becoming his only light.

She had only recently lost her mother and knew how it felt but he lost two.

"Mum, huh? Why do you miss her all of a sudden?" Andromeda questioned. He always shut any thought about her down, to enable him from falling into a depressed state but now…

"I missed her favourite meal. Can we please meet up for an in-house dinner? I heard someone mention it at work and I am missing mum's cooking."

"Sure. Come on over. I would rush and get a few ingredients to begin cooking."

"No need. I would stop by and get them for you. Let me leave now."

"Okay. I would prepare the other things."

Immediately she sat up and tied her hair up as she drew in a deep sigh.

"Hey, Andromeda."

"Yeah?" She had not realised the call was still on until he spoke. "Any problem?"

"No. Just, thank you."

"Anytime. Aunty was good to me too. I would be happy using her recipe to make her son happy."

"Alright. I am leaving the house."

"Okay."

It did not take so long, but he was at her house after an hour plus of making the call.

Once he got in, he joined Andromeda in the kitchen and soon, both had a wonderful time chatting over childhood memories as they cooked.

Suddenly they heard the doorbell ring, pulling them out of their fun time.

Andromeda furrowed her brows deeply. She was sure as hell that she did not invite anyone to see her, so who was this person.

Sensing her worry, Gu Jun inquired. "Not expecting anyone, are you?"

"None I can think of," she responded.

"Okay. Let me help you get the door."

"Nah. I should. Who knows who it can be? It is best we do not chase the one at the door. It could be the delivery guy. Maybe someone wishes to send me flowers," she teased.

"Exactly why I want to check I stayed here before and although out I did not get disturbances, this should be good."

"Nope. Finish cutting the vegetables. I shall go. No arguing Jun." she lifted her index finger in front of his face, silently warning him with her eyes.

"Fine."

He pouted at her and followed her with his gaze still she disappeared from the kitchen as she went to answer the door.

"I'm coming!" she called out, taking her time till she got to the door.

With little force, Andromeda turned and pulled open the door, revealing the guest whom she had never bothered to anticipate.

Her lips fell open for a second there, staring into his dark onyx eyes as they stared right back into hers.

It took her a few seconds to pinch herself to normalcy before she could speak and in the end, she stuttered his name away. "Li-Liu Xueyi."

"Hello, Andromeda."
