Chapter 71 – Old Records

The first shot of Alvin’s revenge operation was somewhat anticlimactic.

Back at school, Old Parker called Dr. Yinsen and asked him to operate on Colleen.

Dr. Yinsen was someone who understood what happened. He hated stupid women like Colleen, but a doctor’s moral instinct made him choose to treat Colleen.

The process was a bit shocking. Danny, who had been accompanying Colleen, tried to speak several times but was forced back by Old Parker’s sharp gaze.

The community school was so magical. When a person really integrated himself into it, they would have a magical change. There seemed to be strange magic here. A good old man like Old Parker dared to blow his beard and stare at people, and he wanted people to pay the price.

Matt left when it was over, and he could sense Alvin’s dissatisfaction with him.

But he had his own life creed, and he sometimes didn’t even particularly approve of Alvin’s way of doing things. But Alvin was a friend, something Matt had never doubted.

    ………………

Alvin strolled down the streets of Hell’s Kitchen with some bleakness. Frank and JJ didn’t know what to discuss and drove off in the pickup truck.

Before he knew it, Alvin had walked out of Hell’s Kitchen.

Just across the street, the whole community environment seemed to have changed a lot.

It was daytime, and the people on the streets of Brooklyn were always smiling, greeting friends and neighbors they knew. Some wandering artists performed hard on the roadside, hoping to have a good harvest. Moving vehicles also slow down here, and drivers open their windows for a breath of fresh air.

Alvin looked back at Hell’s Kitchen just across the street. There it seemed to always be gray, and people were always on guard against each other. The graffiti on the wall was always associated with death and fear. Vehicles passing by were always panicking as if they were running for their lives.

It was Alvin’s first stop in this world, and it was bad, but there were his roots in this world. There he met friends and had a family.

Alvin felt that he had to change his mind, and he was a little impulsive before.

Old Parker was actually right, he really shouldn’t kill her, although that would be very enjoyable. But that would completely destroy those children, watching their principal kill the only person who gave them warmth. Adults couldn’t even stand it, let alone those children! And it would also lose the hope of finding the children who were sent away.

Colleen couldn’t die, she had to atone for the stupid things she had done, not repent.

Alvin always thought he was a mature person, he thought he could face everything calmly.

But in fact, Alvin couldn’t do it. Old Parker was very good. He locked the brutal and violent Alvin in the cabinet like insurance.

Alvin was the guy in the crowd with the gun, but he didn’t want to make himself a guy who was used to solving problems with a gun. People like that didn’t usually end well.

    ………………

After wandering the streets of Brooklyn, Alvin stopped at the gate of a dilapidated boxing gym with a gated fence.

There was a very old song playing in the gym. Alvin didn’t know the name of the song, but Alvin liked the melody of the song.

Alvin would be happier if it hadn’t been for the annoying sound of fists hitting the sandbag.

Alvin walked to the door and knocked on the door, wanting to ask what song it was, or if the old record that was playing could be transferred to him.

The door knocked for a long time before a bearded middle-aged man with brown hair came over. He was wearing only a khaki flight jacket, and his strong muscles were exposed from the open clothes.

The bearded man looked at Alvin through the fence door and said, “What’s the matter with you? This place is closed.”

Alvin looked back at the sky and said to the bearded man: “I passed by here and heard the music inside, I like it very much, can I go in and listen carefully?
Or could you consider transferring that record to me? I will give you a suitable price. “

The bearded man looked at this well-dressed, good-looking Chinese in front of him with a bit of surprise. He didn’t expect him to like this kind of music. This made him feel a little good about Alvin, and he would always feel very cordial to those who shared common interests.

The bearded man pulled open the fence door, tilted his head, and signaled to come in.

Alvin took care of the collar that made him uncomfortable and followed the bearded man into the boxing gym.

The boxing gym was very dilapidated as if it had closed down, and there were two missing ropes in the boundary of the boxing ring in the center.

After Alvin came in, the bearded man pointed to an old-fashioned record player by the window, and said, “You can listen to it. I don’t know if anyone still likes the music from that time.”

Alvin was a little excited, nodded to the bearded man, walked to the record player, and sat down on an old sofa.

Listening to the music played by the old record, Alvin completely relaxed, not caring about wrinkling his suit, he shrank into the sofa to make himself a little more comfortable.

The bearded man was a little curious about Alvin, but instead of disturbing Alvin listening to the music, he ran to find two bottles of beer and handed one to Alvin. Leaning on the window sill, looking out the window through the iron railing, it was hard to tell what he was thinking about.

The old record played very quickly, and it was finished in about twenty minutes.

Alvin huddled on the sofa and reminisced contentedly. He was very satisfied and comfortable. This was good compensation for his bad day.

The bearded man looked at Alvin curiously and said, “Few people like this kind of music, you are really a special person.”

Alvin smiled and said: “Man, I have to say that you have good taste in music. You should stop by my shop when you have time. I have more than 150 old records there. Usually, I don’t take them out and put them away, if you come, I can make an exception and share some with you. As a reward for letting me listen to music today.”

The bearded man looked at Alvin amusingly and said, “It seems that you really like it. Maybe I should consider giving you this record. It should find an owner who understands it.”

Alvin said excitedly: “Really? Maybe we should discuss a suitable price for it. You know, this kind of record is rare now.”

The bearded man waved his hand casually and said, “It doesn’t matter, it’s just a tool for me to recall the past. Someone suggested that I should look forward, I think I have to try!”

Alvin thought this must be someone with a story, maybe they could become friends. Reaching out his hand and shaking the bearded man firmly, he said, “Thank you then, my name is Alvin Ye, you can call me Alvin, nice to meet you!”

The bearded man grinned, showed his white teeth, and said happily: “My name is Steve Rogers, you can call me Steve, it’s nice to meet you!”
