C6 – The Legendary Treasure

Despite his strong reluctance, he ultimately couldn’t evade the grasp of death and collapsed into a pool of blood.

“Picking up done! Obtained Strength attribute*50.”

“Picking up done! Obtained Spirit attribute*60.”

“Picking up done! Obtained empirical value*300.”

It appeared that besides zombies and mutated beasts, humans would also yield Attribute Points and experience upon death.

This young man named Liu Zhe’s strength might not have reached the level of an Evolver, but it was close. Hence, the attributes and experience he dropped were significant.

“Thank you.”

A weak voice suddenly reached Loong Chen’s ears. He turned his head and saw that it was the girl who had spoken.

“You don’t have to be so formal. It’s him who’s inviting trouble.”

Loong Chen remarked, and his words held truth. If Liu Zhe hadn’t been courting trouble, he would have left after obtaining those attributes. He wouldn’t have involved himself in these troublesome affairs.

“No matter what, you saved me and avenged my brother, so I must express my gratitude.”

She insisted, and Loong Chen ceased trying to dissuade her.

“Senior, my name is Bai Xiaohan. I’m a student at Dongfang Academy in Jinling City. How should I address you?”

When hearing her address him as senior, Loong Chen was slightly taken aback. He didn’t appear old, did he?

“My name is Loong Chen. You don’t need to call me senior anymore. It sounds strange. Just address me by my name.”

“Alright, Senior Loong Chen.”

The corner of Loong Chen’s mouth twitched, but he refrained from correcting her. She could address him however she pleased.

“By the way, you mentioned that you’re from Dongfang Academy. So, why are you here? What’s the reason for being hunted?” Loong Chen inquired.

Loong Chen was familiar with Dongfang Academy. It was the largest academy in Jinling City, known for recruiting young geniuses with exceptional talent.

Jinling City, a nearby human settlement, held significance to Loong Chen. The previous inhabitant of his body hailed from there. He was only banished to Death City due to a false accusation against him.

“Because of it.”

Bai Xiaohan hesitated briefly before retrieving a half of a red badge from her pocket.

“This badge is called the Demon King’s Badge. It serves as the key to open the treasure vault of the Tyrannical Saber Devil King.”

After hearing the name Tyrannical Saber Devil King, Loong Chen’s body involuntarily trembled. The figure was renowned as a legend.

Rumor had it that the Tyrannical Saber Devil King was an immensely powerful expert who had emerged during the early days of the apocalypse. His strength was considered among the pinnacle of human experts in this world.

However, a century ago, this legendary figure mysteriously vanished without a trace. Some claimed that he died of old age, while others believed he was slain.

Despite countless speculations, the truth remained elusive. However, a widely accepted rumor circulated among many.

It was said that the Tyrannical Saber Devil King had left behind a substantial amount of treasure during his lifetime, hidden away for the destined individual to inherit.

“Are you saying that this small badge is the key to the treasure vault of the Tyrannical Saber Devil King?”

Loong Chen found it unbelievable.

“Yes, that’s why my brother, Liu Zhe, and I formed a group to search for the treasure. But I never expected that Liu Zhe would want to keep it all to himself.”

Bai Xiaohan expressed her dissatisfaction.

“Why did you share all this with me? Aren’t you afraid that I’ll kill you like I did Liu Zhe?”

Loong Chen sneered and locked eyes with Bai Xiaohan. Bai Xiaohan’s body quivered slightly, but she forced herself to remain composed.

“I believe you’re not that kind of person.”

Loong Chen silently shook his head. This girl was too trusting, easily relying on her instincts to judge a person. Surviving in this post-apocalyptic world would be immensely challenging for her.

However, her intuition seemed to be quite accurate. Although Loong Chen acknowledged that he wasn’t a virtuous person, he wasn’t wicked either.

He wouldn’t show mercy to those who deserved to die, but he would never harm innocent individuals.

“Why is it only half?”

“The other half is with Liu Zhe.”

Bai Xiaohan gestured towards Liu Zhe, lying in a pool of blood. Loong Chen approached his side and conducted a search, eventually finding the remaining half of a badge.

When combined with the other half, it formed a complete badge.
