Sitting opposite Lumimi at the table, Takeshi gulped down his saliva. The woman in front of him was red-faced and, no matter how you look at it, clearly drunk.

“Let’s get to the point, what do you want to know? I’ll answer your questiooons~ Hic.”

“Um, are you all right?”

“Don’t worry, don’t worry. I’m a witch, remember~?”

“Witch… Er, is the demi-human race normal in this world?”

“[This world] you say, hahaha! You make it sound like there’s another world and you’re from there.”

“Uhhh…”

The grinning Lumimi laughed with a complacent smile. Takeshi wasn’t good at dealing with this Lumimi at all.

“The term “demi-human” is used to describe people like Bavaroa and Morgan. They are different from people like you and me.”

“I see. So are there a lot of demi-humans in this world?”

“Yes, that’s right. In the past, there were wars between humans and demi-humans, but now it doesn’t matter, they get along well.”

“Huh…”

Demi-human. It’s like something out of a story, Takeshi thought.

But this is the reality. Rather, from the perspective of the people of this world, we are foreign bodies.

“Um, the social situation in this world… Uhh, that, is there any conflict or war going on somewhere? A war where a lot of people and demi-humans die…”

“Hmmm~? Hahaha, it’s okay, it’s okay. Although swarms of magical beasts appear everywhere, there hasn’t been a war between nations for thousands of years. It’s safe to travel; otherwise, we wouldn’t be travelling merchants and would instead set up shop in some town.”

“Thank god…”

The most important thing when travelling was personal safety. Takeshi thought so.

If the situation in this world is unstable, they have to be vigilant. They came from a planet where the slightest thing can set off a hail of bullets. They have to be careful.

“Also, um… May I know what self-defence methods all of you use?”

“I use Hō-jutsu and Genso-jutsu, and Morgan uses an axe. Because as you can see, he’s a musclehead.”

“I see… Hō-jutsu, Genso-jutsu… Um, what about magic and guns…”

“Mahou? Jū? 1 What’s that?”

""

“Weapons that shoot out iron bullets, and shooting fire from their hands.”

“What the hell are those things? A weapon that shoots out iron bullets, you mean, like a bow and arrow? Fire that shoots out from hand, you mean A-jutsu?”

“…”

There were bows and arrows here, but no guns. Magic was said to be A-jutsu.

This world’s civilization did not appear to be particularly advanced. It’s no surprise that there aren’t any motorcycles around.

“What is hō-jutsu and genso-jutsu?”

“Well, genso-jutsu is the miracle bestowed from praying to the God of all things, and hō-jutsu is the miracle from praying to the god of law. There are also rei-jutsu, where you pray to the god of death, and A-jutsu, where you pray to the god of demi-beasts to perform miracles.”

“I, see…”

Takeshi did not understand anything at all.

He knew this was a fantasy world, but as he didn’t usually read books, he couldn’t understand anything at all. He only knew fairy tales and legends, those kinds of stories.

“Hahaha, is it too difficult to understand? Well, you can think of it as a miracle obtained by praying to the gods. The fire you mentioned earlier is classified as A-jutsu.”

“Hmmm…Then, what kind of weapons and stuff do you have?”

“Yes? By weapons, you mean, like swords and axes, right? Spears, catapults, bows and arrows, you can ask that Dwarf, Tuck, about it.”

“I understand… Then–” “Ta-da!”

At this point, Anna, who had been upstairs browsing clothes, returned.

“Hehehe, The Mage! I’m so excited!”

“There, there, Anna. Don’t make a scene.”

“Yeah yeah. So, how’s it?”

“Hmm? … Good.”

Anna’s clothes were mainly designed for ease of movement. It was designed in red as the basic tone, with a short skirt and boots. And she also wore a weird long cloak.

“What’s that cloak?”

“Cool, right? You couldn’t be called a mage without a cloak!”

“… Take it off when you get on the bike. If it gets caught in the tires, your neck will be strangled.”

“I know, I know! And also a magic wand!”

“That wand, isn’t that just a baton?”

“It’s not! Ah jeez, this is why you’re a father with no taste…”

“Hey, you’re hurting my feelings.”

“Hmph! Also, here, I bought a wallet too. I’ve taken out the money for the clothes and split it in half, so keep it. And, Donna, right? It’s not that different from Japanese’s yen. And the socks were 300 Donnas.”

Anna held out a folded wallet to Takeshi.

When he checked the inside, there were about 20 notes in it. It seemed that there’re not only coins but also notes.

Takeshi tucked his wallet into the breast pocket of his jacket.

“Haha, it suits you well, ojou-chan.”

“Anna is fine! More importantly, witch onee-san, please teach me magic! I also want to know more about this world!”

“Ara ara, you’re such a curious girl. I don’t know anything about magic, but other than that I can answer the rest.”

“Yay~!”

Takeshi bowed his head to Lumimi and went to Tuck’s place.

The conversation between those two would probably be prolonged, he thought. Perhaps because of the brimming curiosity, after they arrived in this world Anna was in her perfect form, full of excitement.

Tuck was staring at the bike with a tool in his hand.

Thinking that he was going to take it apart, Takeshi called out to him.

“How is it?”

“Hmph… I have no idea at all, I realized I had no idea at all. What the hell is this, I can’t take it apart at all. This complicated chunk is actually a single component… and I can’t get my hands on it.”

Takeshi felt relieved.

He found out after a drive that this bike didn’t lose fuel.

There was fuel in the tank, but it did not seem to decrease at all. Moreover, the dirt, grime and scratches on the tires have disappeared, probably because they had been stored and taken out.

Just like the shotshell, the fuel never seemed to run out and the bike did not seem like it could be broken.

""

And, Takeshi was sure.

This bike, he’s the only one who would be able to drive it. Even if the key was turned, only he could change gears, grip the clutch, and start the engine.

“This is hopeless. Geez, what the hell is this?”

“Haha… Um, are you finished?”

“Yeah, I found something I couldn’t understand. I’ve been alive for a long time, but I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s been a great inspiration.”

Takeshi turned off his bike and bowed to Tuck.

“Oh, well, what are you guys going to do now? We’re going to do some business in a nearby town, and then we’re planning to travel around other villages and towns, but we can give you a lift to the nearest town.”

“The town… What kind of place is it?”

“It’s just a small town, nothing much. It’s a place where travellers stop by once in a while and the people there make a living by farming. If they’re farmers then we can sell farming tools, if there are no apothecaries we can sell medicine, if the farmers get their clothes dirty, it’s a good place for us to earn so much money.”

For agriculture, the metal hoe made by the blacksmith Tuck would be sold, and they could also repair pots and knives. The medicines made by the witch Lumimi would be useful for the residents, and the clothes and undergarments made by Bavaroa would be essential.

“I see, it’s a group of people who need a travelling shop.”

“Bwahahaha! Yes, that’s right.”

Tuck roared with laughter and Takeshi followed suit.

Takeshi felt glad that Tuck and his friends were the first people he met from this other world.

But then–

“Hmm? What’s the matter, Morgan? It’s not mealtime yet.”

Morgan, the cow-beastman bodyguard, suddenly appeared from the second-floor stairs.

“‘It’s not that… There’s an emergency.”

“… what’s wrong?”

“There are bloodsucking cotton fluffs flying around our shop. We have to protect Mahogany.”

“What did you say?!”

Takeshi was startled by Tuck’s scream. Tuck then hurriedly opened a nearby window and clicked his tongue.

“Damn it! Morgan, get on the back of Mahogany and knock those cotton fluff off!”

“I know. But that’s not all. Look at the ground.”

“What… Hey-hey, you’re kidding right! Don’t tell me it’s rock worms?!”

“It is. This is not good, I didn’t think they’d come one after another.”

He didn’t know what they’re talking about but he knew it was an emergency.

Tuck then said to Lumimi, who was looking at him

“Lumimi, we’ve got rock worms and blood-sucking cotton fluff coming at the same time! Can you help me deal with the rock worms?”

“That’s a harsh joke… My genso-jutsu is only good for self-defence. I can’t kill rock worms with it.”

“Goddamnit! What are we going to do then, just let Mahogany escape alone?!”

“It’s impossible. Those blood-sucking cotton fluffs are still there… If you touch it, it’ll suck every drop of blood out of you.”

Takeshi and Anna looked at each other and then looked out of the window Tuck opened.

And there it is—

“Wha-what is that? Is that cotton fluff?”

“The size is dangerous! What is that thing, it’s like a balloon!”

“Hey, look at the ground. There’s… something there.”

“Ewww… Disgusting!”

Balloon-sized cotton fluffs were fluttering in the sky, with huge gigantic rock worms chasing behind!

Bloodsucking cotton fluffs, rock worms.

Just by the name alone, you could tell that they’re dangerous.

“…”

“What do we do? Do we run away?”

“Anna, you stay here.”

“What are you going to do?”

“Hehe, it’s nothing, I’m used to running away.”

“What?”

“Back then, Dad… I used to be a lowly underling of a biker gang2.”

“What, are you serious? A biker gang, that’s hilarious.”

“I used to be a ‘suicide unit’3 in biker gang fights, picking a fight with bikers from opposing gang and ramming into their bikes, and then get chased by dozens of bikes… and get away with it.”

“…”

Takeshi took out the pair of sunglasses from his breast pocket and put them on.

Then he smiled in a way that Anna had never seen before.

“We’ll attract the worm monster. There’s nothing to worry about, we’ll win this.”

Takeshi said to Tuck, who was shouting instructions to get out.

“Tuck-san.”

“What?! Sorry, but–” “Those worms, I’ll take care of them.” “… Haah?!”

“You should be able to manage if it’s just those cotton fluffs, right? I’ll attract the worms. In the meantime, please do something about the cotton fluffs and escape.”

“… You, are you serious?”

“Yes. With my bike, it’ll be fine. Well, just watch me, I’m a confident driver.”

“…”

Without waiting for Tuck’s reply, Takeru summoned his motorbike, the Harley Davidson Fat Boy, and straddled it.

He started the engine and put in the gear.

“Tuck-san, please open the entrance.”

“… You stupid bastard!”

As soon as the entrance door opened, Takeru blew the accelerator and took off!

For a moment, he felt a weight ──────── Anna jumped into the tandem seat.

“Wha– A, Anna?!”

“Just look forward! Keep your balance!”

As soon as they landed, they lost their balance, but with this level of shaking, they were able to get back on their feet.

Takeru shouted at Anna while running side-by-side Mahogany.

“Idiot! What are you doing, it’s dangerous!”

“It’s too late now!!! And besides, it’s… It’s as dangerous for you as it is for me!”

“!!!”

“If dad dies, then I’ll be all alone! Besides, I’m the “Great Mage”, the most powerful mage approved by the White God!”

“… Hahaha.”

Takeshi, for some unknown reason, laughed.

Then he braked and made a mad turn. He turned the bike around and twisted the accelerator.

“Hold on tight!”

“Yes! Dad!!!”

For the first time in years, Takeshi has the look of a ‘reliable father’.
