Chapter 9 – Bachelor for Life

Lin HuanHuan asked curiously, “Who was it?”

“I don’t know, when I went to open the door, the person was gone,” Bai Di said as he placed the animal skin pouch in front of her. “This thing was left on the doorstep. It should have been left by that person.”

Lin HuanHuan saw that the pouch was full of red berries, and she couldn’t help showing a surprised look, “Lots of red berries!”

“Do you want to eat?” Bai Di asked.

Lin HuanHuan shook her head. “I don’t want to eat it. This is something other people placed at the door of the witch doctor’s house. It should be the witch doctor’s.”

“It doesn’t matter if you want to eat. I can always pick some red berries and return them to the witch doctor.”

“No need. The red berries given to me by the witch doctor haven’t been finished yet. It is only right for us to return the red berries to the witch doctor. It is impolite to take other people’s things casually.”

“Okay,” Bai Di set the animal skin pouch aside, then reached out and touched Lin HuanHuan’s ass. Frowning, he asked, “Why is it still bleeding?”

Lin HuanHuan flushed red, “It usually takes five days for the bleeding to stop. Today is only the second day. It’s still early.”

“With you bleeding so much, will you really not die?” Bai Di’s face was full of worry.

“No, I’ve been like this all these years without any problems.”

Looking at Lin HuanHuan’s confidence, Bai Di could only temporarily suppress the worry in his heart.

Before long, the old witch doctor returned.

Lang Zhu asked Lin HuanHuan about her physical condition as usual and confirmed that nothing was unusual, making her feel relieved.

Bai Di handed the pouch full of red berries to Lang Zhu.

“This was left at your door just now. It should be given to you.”

Lang Zhu casually grabbed two red berries and looked at them. Lang Zhu brought them by his nose and smelled them, then his wrinkled face immediately showed a meaningful smile.

He put the animal skin pouch in Lin HuanHuan’s hand: “This was meant for you, take it and eat it.”

Lin HuanHuan was surprised, “Isn’t this supposed to be for you?”

“Trust me. It must be for you!”

Without waiting for Lin HuanHuan to ask questions, Lang Zhu walked away with a cane.

At the back of the house, he found Shuangyun on a huge rock.

A tall and handsome man was sitting on the edge of a big rock. With one leg bent, his honey-colored skin glowed warmly, surrounded by the warm light of the setting sun. His short silver hair was gently swinging with the breeze, changing his original sharp face to one with a hint of softness.

Although Lang Zhu was so old that his hair and beard had already turned white, he was still very healthy.

He easily jumped on the rock, raised his hand, and knocked on Shuangyun’s forehead. “Smelly boy, even a female you dared to hit. You really are in the wrong!” Lang Zhu said with a smile.

Shuangyun sat motionlessly. He glanced at the old witch doctor and hummed, “As long as they do something bad, whether it’s female or not, I will beat them!”

“But, she didn’t do anything bad. You misunderstood her!”

Shuangyun pursed his lips and stopped talking.

“Go and apologize, then coax her well.”

Shuangyun turned away, “I don’t bow down to females!”

Lang Zhu looked at him amusedly, “You obviously like the person very much yet you pretend to be annoyed. Who did you learn your awkward temper from?”

“Me? Like her? How is that possible? I hate all females!”

Lang Zhuhao asked leisurely, “Since you hate her, then why did you secretly send her red berries?”

Shuangyun immediately answered, “What red berries? I don’t know what you are talking about!”

“Still pretending? Your scent is on those berries, I can smell it!”

Shuangyun’s ear tips showed a hint of red, but his mouth still spouted tough words, “That was because I just picked then up when I went hunting in the mountains. It’s for you, not for her!”

“If this is the case, then I will ask her to return the bag of red berries to me when I go in.”

Seeing him actually turning to leave, Shuangyun quickly stopped him, “You are not allowed to leave!”

Lang Zhu looked at him with a smile, “Why am I not allowed to go?”

Shuangyun clenched his hands into fists, as if he had a lot to say. But in the end, he could only spit out a few words dryly.

“I really picked those red berries…”

“Red berries grow in thorn bushes, and the thorns are poisonous. It’s almost unbearable to prick them. Animals don’t even approach that area. Who goes hunting and picks berries in thorn bushes as a by the way thing? Even underaged cubs in the tribe would not believe it.” Lang Zhu said.

Shuangyun looked down at the back of his hand that was pierced by the thorns. It had become red and swollen, and was still very itchy.

But, he didn’t say anything. Silver white hair covered his eyes and his thin lips pursed tightly.

Lang Zhu took out a handful of leaves and handed it to him, “Chew them and apply them to the wound to relieve the itching and swelling.”

Shuangyun took the leaf silently.

Lin HuanHuan stayed in the wolf tribe for five days, and the aunt (her period) finally left reluctantly.

Bai Di was very happy. “Your wound is healed! You will not die!”

Lin HuanHuan had to emphasize again, “I am not injured, and I will not die.”

Bai Di picked her up and rubbed her hair gently.

Now that the aunt is gone, Lin HuanHuan had no reason or need to stay in the wolf tribe anymore.

Bai Di took her to say goodbye to Lang Zhu.

Long Zhu immediately said, “No, no! You can’t leave yet!”

It was hard to get that kid Shuangyun to be tempted by a female. What would Shuangyun do if she just left? Do the Gods really want him to be a bachelor for life?!

He had to find a way to keep Lin HuanHuan from leaving the tribe.

Bai Di asked, “Why can’t she leave?”

Lang Zhu thought for a while, and suddenly remembered a very important thing. “Winter is coming soon!” He quickly answered.

Bai Di frowned, “I remember that winter is still two months away. It’s still early.”

“In the previous years, it’s true that winter is still over two months away. But this year’s climate has changed, winter will arrive two months earlier. This is the result of my deduction based on the movement of the stars (astrology). I am sure of it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it!”

As a witch doctor, Lang Zhu knew some witchcraft besides having medical skills and this included weather forecasting.

This kind of prediction was not accurate under normal circumstances. But it is very accurate as long as it involved huge changes like snowstorms or floods.

It was precisely because of this that the wolf tribe succeeded in avoiding many natural disasters and continued to thrive until it became the large tribe it is today.

Long Zhu’s words made Bai Di think seriously.

At the same time, Lin HuanHuan heard the voice of the system in her mind.

[Serial Mission Triggered: Large-scale Winter]

[The cold winter is coming. Host, please prepare. The system will randomly release a series of tasks during the cold winter. After completing the tasks, the host will receive generous rewards! ]

When Lin HuanHuan heard that there was a reward, she was full of expectations.

Last time she completed the novice task, the system rewarded fire starter and atlas, which were very useful and good things.

This task sounds like a very powerful one. The rewards will definitely be much richer than the novice task’s!
