Classless Reincarnation

85 Jellyfish of DOOM!

Jack's vision suddenly went dark.

The only thing he could see was the glowing message from the system that went. [Appraisal God's Fragment has Awakened!] What was it this time?!

That's when the scenery changed.

A river of blood.

A gigantic bloody torrent!

Compared to it, Jack was absolutely nothing. In it, thousands of corpses drowned, dragged under by the current, anguished wails coming out of their maws.

"T-this?!" There was something strange about their wails. Why did it seem to form a melody?! It was also one that felt so nostalgic for some reason...

"Old Ghost, got any advice?" But his only reply was lamentations.

The place was a dark cave with an ever-darker ceiling and no exit in sight. It was akin to an inescapable prison, just like his fate. But then it suddenly hit him, this was... inside him?!

The corpses... people his bad luck had taken down.

The torrent? The destruction he had brought and his will to push through no matter what at the same time.

As for the lullaby, that one was obvious. Amidst all the chaos, it was the only thing that kept him sane, his desire to enjoy life, his desire for peace and serenity!

But that's when he noticed it...

A dark sun! What he had once believed to be a cave's ceiling was, in fact, a gigantic mass of darkness! Glowing seals seemed to restrain it... but were slowly disappearing.

It was only a matter of time before this thing broke free! This was an unstoppable force that would sap all life from the world until-- He froze, for he knew what it was.

Just as he was about to despair, he came to his senses...

"God of Appraisal, was it? This is your doing, isn't it? What are you playing at, eh?!" Jack screamed at empty air.... But just as he did, it appeared.

A translucent jellyfish, one so tiny it barely existed.

Right, it was merely a godly "fragment". Yet, this fragment had somehow conjured this whole place up. Or perhaps had it simply revealed it? Either way, he had to figure it out!

-- Wobble! Wobble! --

It wobbled in the air, as it sent a tentacle his way.

[The God of Appraisal (fragment) Offers You a Contract!]

[Do You Wish to Become a Seeker of Knowledge?]

[You Show Promise For It...]

Suddenly, a ghost seemingly came out of the river, acting out a scene from the past. Him chuckling to himself as he spied on people either directly or with his foxes.

So that's why this thing had taken an interest in him? Somehow, this one god felt purer than the ones he had encountered before, not as egoistical and maniacal.

"You, what are you offering?" Jack suspiciously asked.

Just as the last point appeared, Jack felt nausea invade him, the "friendly" jellyfish suddenly turning to a lifeless abomination, one that he would NEVER deal with!

"Go fuck yourself, you damn jelly!"

As soon as it was rejected, the thing started Menacingly Wobbling. Somehow, Jack could feel that it was preparing an ultimate attack of some kind! Time to put an end to it!

"TAKE THIS!" He went on the offensive.

This was merely a simulation, right?! He'd go freaking all out! At this moment, thousands of Spectral blades shot out toward the wobbling jellyfish.

-- Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! --

But just as it seemed like they would tear the jellyfish apart, it wobbled a tentacle upward, and he completely froze. COMPLETELY! What the heck was this?!

Jack could feel the thing's relish.

[Appraisal God Has Finished Scanning You!]

[Your Being is Now Under Its Command!]

What kind of OP ability was this?! This thing was bloody cheating. It was now wobbling toward him gleefully. He barely had seconds to figure out a counter, or he was dead meat!

The system message had said his being was under this thing's command, right?! Ah! What if he did that?! Jack suddenly focused his mind on a specific title of his.

Just as the jellyfish was about to reach him....

"Wooo!!" (X30!)

Fox cries resounded, so loudly that they even made the corpses in the river stop their lullaby for a second. Then they appeared, the spirits of his subordinates!

This time, it was Jack's turn to counterattack!

"You focused so much on me... but good luck getting them to obey you! Foxes, gobble that bitch up!" They instantly heard his order, charging forth, encircling the target.

It seemed as if it had underestimated his link with his foxes. So what if they weren't truly here? Their spirits would still come to his aid-- all thanks to his most recent ability!

The jellyfish jerked in shock.

-- Panicked Wobble! --

But what would panic do? The foxes didn't show any mercy! They bit, they clawed, they overwhelmed it entirely! They were an orange legion of punishers!

"Woo!" (Trying to devour Master?! Take this)

The poor thing could only wobble in pain as it tried its best to resist-- Not that wobbling around would quench the foxes' fury. So what if it was a god or whatever? KILL!

Except things were never that easy...

When it came time to finish the damn thing, an issue suddenly cropped up. [Error! Error! Fox Spirits Too Weak To Truly Hurt A Godly Fragment!]

The jellyfish went through a flurry of states...

-- Shocked Wobble! Relieved Wobble! Sadistic Wobble! --

That's when the creature unfurled its tentacles, slowly rising as it ignored the foxes entirely. No, it simply resumed its wobble of doom toward Jack.

Heck, it was even licking its proverbial lips in expectation of the feast to come. While it already controlled its movements, it would soon devour all of him!

It couldn't wait for all the knowledge that it would gain. After all, this "human" had such an incredibly enticing smell that was truly out of this world!

It especially couldn't wait to take this new vessel for a spin...
