The skyscrapers are draped in the night, towering in the dense neon lights of the night. Gao Tianchen stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of his office on the top floor, with a cigarette in his hand. He remained silent for a long time, only overlooking the flow of people and the hustle and bustle of traffic below.

Although he was not an addicted smoker, he had smoked since he was a teenager. It was only when Mu Ze didn’t like it that he quit. During the two years after Mu Ze’s death, he was so depressed that he resorted to smoking and drinking all day long, ignoring the world. A year or so later, he gradually came out of the shadow of losing his lover.

A cigarette burned from the top to his fingertips. He glanced sidelong at the pile of papers on the wide table and returned to his seat to continue his work. The table was full of all sorts of documents, and he calmly made all sorts of precise instructions, his expression focused.

Every day, he did his work with all his energy and to the highest standard. He was as sharp and clean as a machine, and his handsome face was dominated by a cold, unsmiling look.

The thing Gao Tianchen looks forward to most every day is going home, where all the stories of Mu Jin and his interactions are found. There is also the lovely child, who carries their blood.

The black Bentley shuttled through the setting sun, driving along the winding road towards the villa complex on the outskirts of the city.

Taking off his suit jacket and hanging it on a rack by the entrance hall, Gao Tianchen walked straight up to the baby’s room on the first floor.

As soon as he enters, the room is covered in warm, sunny orange wallpaper, with a clear and harmonious tone. The soft plush carpeted floor is also covered with the baby’s favourite toys. And in the middle is a delicate wooden cot, in which Gao Lin, who is more than two months old, is sleeping quietly.

Gao Tianchen gently walked over to the crib, lifted the airy silk curtain hanging over the bed and leaned down to gaze at him.

Unlike the wrinkled face he had seen in the incubator, Gao Lin’s face had already blossomed. His skin was as white and tender as a peeled egg, and one dared not touch it.

He seemed to have just been nursed and fed by Aunt Chen. With one hand clenched into a tiny fist and one hand stretched out to take two fingers into his mouth, his cherry-like moist lips pouted with a satisfied look.

Gao Tianchen dotingly tickled his son’s rosy little cheeks with his hand. Gao Lin was quiet, his nostrils gently flaring and closing. The warm breath escaping from his nose sprayed onto his(GT) hand, touching the softness of Gao Tianchen’s heart.

After helping his son fix his blanket, Gao Tianchen got up and left. He walked towards the room at the end of the corridor.

The room was specially prepared by Gao Tianchen for Mu Jin. It had all the medical equipment that Mu Jin needed, and it looked like a small ICU ward.

Mu Jin was lying on a spacious and soft hospital bed. His small and delicate face was mostly covered by an oxygen mask. His eyes were closed tightly as if he was sleeping.

Time has passed, from the time Gao Lin was born safely to now. It has been two months since Gao Lin was born. Although Mu Jin is out of danger, there is no sign of him waking up. His body functions are also sluggish and weak.

He needs the help of various delicate medical machines to keep him alive. Although Mu Jin was unconscious, Gao Tianchen could not bear to see him lying alone in the cold hospital. He spent a lot of effort setting up a ward at home and brought Mu Jin home.

With just the nutrient infusion into his body, Mu Jin inevitably lost another round of weight. His face was as pale as a white paper, reflecting the long, curly eyelashes dyed like ink. They were as dark as shark’s fin.

Gao Tianchen sat by his bedside, his eyes full of tenderness and affection as he saw Mu Jin alone.

The back of Mu Jin’s hand was covered with bruises and needles and had an IV tube inserted into it. Gao Tianchen did not even dare to hold it gently.

“Xiao Jin, do you know, Aunt Chen told me that today at dinner, she found out that Lin’er can already grasp a spoon. He looks so cute and resembles you,” Gao Tianchen said slowly as if the Mu Jin on the bed could hear him rambling on about daily chores.

“I know you love him, but you haven’t even looked at him once” he refused to look away, “Do you not want to be with him as he grows up? How can you bear to miss the little bits and pieces of his gradual growth?

“Wake up…” Getting up and dropping a kiss lightly on the sleeping person’s forehead compassionately, he fixed the thick white corner of the blanket. Gao Tianchen turned around and left the room.

He didn’t notice that behind him, Mu Jin, who was unresponsive, moved one finger slightly. There was only a slight movement in the hand hanging at his side.
