Chains Of Pride

Chapter 55 - Low-Level Skirmish

Kia and Gero were hurriedly making their way to the medical ward, they saw the direction that Lanzo ran off to on the screen before they left.

"Why don't we call him? It'll be easier if we just tell him to meet us in the novre room."

Kia advised Gero as he knew they still had quite some way to go before they even reached the bike hub.

"Fine, I'll call him, let's just get to the hub. I hate dragging this stupid hangar all over the place," Gero was simply arguing as he lugged the hovering hangar that they used to bring God's Code to Team Proelius's waiting room.

Beep.

"Oi, the bane of my life, we're heading to the novre room meet us there when you're done doing what you're doing." Gero had taken out his transmitter and called Lanzo to let him know where they were going.

"Just tell me where you guys are, and I'll head right over, the speed on this thing is insane!" The excited voice of Lanzo came through to the transmitter.

"Would you just listen to me you muscle-bound, green-haired piece of-"

"We're walking through the Arena Park on our way to the bike hub, you got around 25 mins."

"Thanks, Kia, I'm heading over, bzzt."

"The hell Kia!! He shouldn't even be wearing the Armis in Cendo like that," Gero raged when Kia basically told him to get over here at breakneck speed.

"Oh calm down, nobody's gonna stop him, and I did it for a reason," stated Kia with a nonchalant expression.

"What do you me- oh, you mean that feeling I had earlier? You're really stuck on that aren't you?" Gero said as they continued on their way.

"It always pays to better prepa- ugh!!" Before Kia could even finish what he was saying. An overwhelming pressure bore down on the both of them, sending both Kia and Gero to their knees.

"Is this them? Interesting, they're leaking the pressure and aura of a Talium they haven't even returned to the Origin yet, not even halfway. How peculiar." A warm voice entered their ears.

With great difficulty they stared ahead where they saw a pale young man, he didn't look much older than they were.

He seemed to be the one responsible for the pressure they felt.

"Wh-Who are you? Urkh!! W-What do you want?!" Kia was practically talking through clenched teeth.

"You're able to talk under that much pressure?" A slightly shocked expression appeared on the pale young man's face. "And to think, you're the ones responsible for that Armis as well."

However, when he looked on the hangar and saw the Armis missing a slight frown appeared on his face. His gaze turned to the two kneeling on the ground and the smile returned to his face, "It looks like this trip brought me more benefits than I thought it would, lucky me."

On top of a tall tree…

"Okay, first off, this is going too far, why are we standing on top of a tree, the ground's like right there! Second of all, this seems way too risky, they're obviously from-"

"I know! Now shut up, I can't believe it, when I spoke with them before, I had thought they were seeking their origin. They simply displayed had high comprehension skills." Shepherd Hide stated as he stared ahead.

They were quite some distance away, but they could still, through virtue of their powers, hear and see what was happening.

"So are you gonna save them now then, if you damage one of them, you can't get another, they're not items y'kno," Vizio stated with a little bit of anxiousness in her voice.

"It's fine, as long as I exist and I deem it, they will not die nor be taken away. That is my will." When he spoke, an extreme level of confidence infected his words, compelling people to believe him unknowingly.

Vizio looked at him for a while before she replied with a laugh, "Pfft yeah right, you just want them to get their asses kicked so they'll come running to you."

"Shut up and watch, you're being annoying again." When he spoke this time, Vizio didn't continue, she only silently watched the scene some distance in front of her play out.

When Gero heard what the youth in front of him said, he knew this wasn't gonna end, so he thought he might as well piss him off.

"O-Oh really now? T-Then I've g-got three t-things to s-say to y-you. O-One you're not taking me anywhere, two y-you look like a malnourished meerkat, a-and three I don't n-need a third reason." Gero's eyes were red as he strained to piss off the pale young man before him.

"You're fortunate that I want you alive, however…"

Boom!!

Suddenly, a might kick sent Gero flying away, he violently crashed into one of the large trees that littered the park. "You don't necessarily need to be unharmed now do you?"

"Gero!"

Kia struggled to his feet before his knee found the ground again. He did this repeatedly to form the most inefficient walk in the world, but it was the best he could do under the circ.u.mstances.

Before long, a stronger pressure than ever before crashing down on Kia rendering him completely immobile it sent him sprawling to the ground.

"Seriously, what are these kids? One's a perpetual asshole with astounding will power, and the other one was able to move under a level of pressure that no human should be able to resist. Even if they are Dreamers, this is beyond their capabilities, enough of this, I'm bringing them back with me.

Dum! Dum!! Vhee!!

Out of nowhere, a black-armoured foot came within an inch of the pale young man's face. He slightly frowned at this, and leaned back, not a lot, but just enough to evade the kick.

Krshhh, boom!!

The momentum carried the black-armoured figure forward as he crashed into a few trees a short distance out.

"Guys, you alright?! Where the hell did a malnourished meerkat come from?!" Naturally, it was Lanzo wearing God's Code. He had just ripped his feet free from the tree it was lodged in.

"R-Right? I…said 'coughs' the same thing." The one who spoke was the barely conscious Gero. Since it was confirmed they were dreamers, at this stage, then by right, they were to be no different from humans physically.

"Another one?! I can sense the same feeling from you, you haven't even begun to return to the origin, and somehow you're leaking the presence of a Talium, and you came to help. Seems like you're all friends, that's nice…I'll just have shadow round you all up."

As soon as he spoke, she shadowy figure behind him began to move in an imperceptible fashion, making a beeline for the injured Gero. When the pale youth saw this, he grinned as he thought to himself, "Without power, one can forget about holding their fate in their own hands, I'll see what secrets the three of you hold."

"Kksssshhhh!"

"Call that thing off now!" Lanzo came charging in once again. This time, however, he brandished the Divinus Plasma Blade. The weird sound it made when it's tyrannical energy seared the air could be heard.

"Aahh!!!"

He slashed towards the pale youth with a grimace. Though his expression was hidden by the helmet, his emotions were evident by his wild actions.

Lanzo was aware this was not Engage, this was not a game. This person came with malicious intentions, he and Gero might not get along, but he was not gonna sit idly by while someone just took him away.

While Lanzo had his hands full with the pale youth, the shadow was practically upon Gero. However, before it could grab him, its entire body flickered then staggered. Its form was becoming indistinct.

"No! Who?!"

When the pale youth saw this, his expression was one of complete shock.

On top of a tall tree…

Shepherd Hide's eyes flashed in astonishment, but it only lasted for a moment. Vizio, who was watching at the side, looked to him in confusion.

"What did you do?"

Takeshi shook his head to her question, "Not me, but hold on we're gonna be in for a good show later. How dare an insignificant Invata Prime acts unbridled in Cendo while I slumber here? In the end, it doesn't look like he can handle three youngbloods."

Vizio was very confused when she heard this, she looked around while thinking to herself "Is there another expert hidden somewhere?"

Hide only afforded her sideways glance before he said, "Stop looking around and keep your eyes in front."

The pale youth's countenance went a few shades lighter when he saw the shadow continuously flickering.

"Is there another Talium here?! Still, whoever it is doesn't seem that strong." He said this in his heart while he scanned the surroundings.

Shiiing!!

"Damn!" Due to a moment of carelessness, a fresh wound appeared on the face of the pale-faced youth. Divinus Plasma was truly miraculous, being one of the only known substances that can actually harm a talium! Well, a relatively weak one, the wound was only shallow, but it dealt a significant blow to his pride to be wounded by a Dreamer.

Bam!!

He landed a blow on the c.h.e.s.t plate of God's Code, this sent Lanzo flying far away. He could finally catch his breath, he didn't expect for Lanzo to be so troublesome.

In all actuality, the shadowy figure was the pale youth's construct. Its quasi-ethereal nature made it suitable for reconnaissance, infiltration and in some cases, assassination.

However, if he let it roam free after giving a basic command, it wouldn't be as good as him controlling it himself. This was why he had to blast Lanzo in that Armis away, so he could control it himself.

"Shadow Condense!"

He quickly roared, and his aura and pressure rose, he circulated the in'essence in his body in a frenzy. Once he did this, the shadow began to stabilise, and it returned to his side.

He was on guard in case there was another expert hidden somewhere else. He was totally unaware of the two beings some distance away that could kill him with a single palm if they so wished.

Boom!!!

The same energy that caused his shadow to tremble once again, however, once the youth saw who it was coming from, his pupils shrank.

"I-Impossible, you haven't even returned to the origin. How is this possible?"

A scarlet glow shrouded him, and the pressure that kept him immobile had lessened by a considerable margin. Before this, his knees would slam to the ground with every step, now he walked upright and looked to the man who put them in a sorry state before.

Naturally, this was Kia the one who the pale youth didn't attach all that much importance to.

"You know, if this is any indication, I would just like to say. It was at this moment that the malnourished meerkat realised, he f*cked up."
