Chapter 28 - Prologue to Engage ( Pt 4)

"Fudge!! This is awesome!! He already feels light, and he hasn't even started to fight yet, just what kind of Armis is that?!"

Forget that! Did you see how it engaged with him, shit! I want one!" I still have to put my suit on like a solid, I wanna put it on like a liquid to-...! Hold the phone, did you just say fudge instead of fu-..."

"Can we go home now?! Are we even needed at this point? He put the suit on, better than some of our enemies fight! Why are we even here right now?!"

The members of Proelius were all commenting on the Armis's incredible display though it had yet to do anything other than engage with its wearer. Engage was not only the name of the sport, but it was also the name of the process through which an Armis synchronises with its wearer.

This would make sure that that the receptors and brain signals were in sync when being used. The suit will automatically engage when it is being donned by its user.

"Hhmm it seems to be operating well, and the secondary power sourcing is running well, you should probably get the primary power source ready and installed." Kia was looking at the real-time stats on the device that he created.

It displayed the internal condition of the suit, he then turned his head to look at Gero who just finished his extensive security procedures and was taking out The Temporal Gate.

"I know, that's what I'm doing." He knew there were less than 10 mins to the match, so when he took out The Temporal Gate, he started to get to work on activating it right away. A process that Kia only saw once during their tests, but something he would never get tired of.

Gero was shifting pieces on the little pyramid as one would a Rubix cube, but the intriguing thing was, no matter how much he switched and turned the parts, not once did it lose its initial shape of a pyramid appearing extremely peculiar.

While everyone was still gawking at the suit that Lanzo wore as if it was a piece of art, Kia was totally entranced by the activation sequence of the pyramid itself.

"Man I would stare at someone turning on a light switch if they had to go through this all the time, so beautiful."

He inwardly wondered to himself whether it was Gero who designed the pyramid to be so complex to activate or if it was due to the innate complex nature of the pyramid and its purpose that such a sequence was necessary.

As soon as he thought this, the pyramid began to ignite with a soft glow flowing along the lines of the runes. They looked slightly different than before following their activation.

After a while, the pyramid began to vibrate, it wasn't a distinct movement, only a near imperceptible motion. But the vibration soon sped up to the point that the entire pyramid appeared blurry to the n.a.k.e.d eye, an odd sight indeed.

"Oi! Gree- …uh I mean Lanzo, get over here, you're gonna need your primary power source, the one you have now is only for the engaging process and basic motor functions."

When he heard his name, Lanzo, and by extension, all the members of Proelius turned their gaze towards Gero and the weird-looking pyramid with doubtful expressions, after all, how could such a small thing power an Armis?

Even so, Lanzo didn't question it, knowing that both Gero and Kia worked on the suit and knew what it needed.

"What kind of power can such a tiny device generate anyway? This suit was evaluated by Shepherd Akiu himself, though I've never heard of an Armis needing a secondary power source before. You want to tell me that that pathetic little pyramid can act as the primary power source for such a machine, who are you trying to fool?!"

This statement came from none other than Pelerion, who had elected to keep a low profile after seeing that Kia and Gero arrived with no visible wound or injury to speak of. Obviously, his plan had failed, and he didn't want to draw any unnecessary attention to himself.

However, seeing that such an opportunity presented itself and that Kia and Gero appeared close, he couldn't help but take a jab. Especially after seeing that everyone started to nod in agreement, thinking it a little far-fetched indeed.

Gero only took a cursory glance in his direction before taking out his transmitter to see the time and beckoned for Lanzo to come close and turn around. Realising that he was blatantly being ignored caused Pelerion to feel even more rage.

However, while he was fixing the pyramid in its housing circuit on the suit's back, Gero opened his mouth saying. "Not to mention that we have roughly 5 minutes before the match starts. The only way your pathetic excuse for a brain could even begin to pronounce the first word of my research is if I took 100+ years slowly explaining it to you."

He paused right here while he fiddled with the installation before continuing. "Now whilst your brain may think that 5 minutes and 100 years are the same or at best very close, my gift for you is to know that they are not."

"Oh and, while you may have fooled the fools, those with some or more semblance of common sense should remain unperturbed." At this, Gero's eyes found Lanzo, Kia, and shockingly the Captain along with another member of Proelius with very obvious movements as he did so.

"Congratulations, at least your team isn't being led by someone whose brain isn't useful for being just a paperweight.

Gero caught a glare from the Captain when he said that but he didn't particularly mind, only shrugging as he went along. "Aaand there we go, now when you use any of the more....taxing capabilities of the suit, the Armis's circuits will draw from The Temporal Gate per your command."

Lanzo nodded when he heard this and commented, "I feel like I can run wild this time, all I need is some space and some strong people to let loose on."

"I can spot several things wrong with you based on what you just said, but it doesn't concern me...well, mostly. Just make sure you push this thing as hard as you can." He stole a glance at Kia as he said this, "I think you'll be hard-pressed to find its limit with this one."

"Mhmm" was all that Lanzo replied with, acknowledging that he understood.

"Oh, so you're finally done speaking, and you're done putting in that joke of a power source as well, good! So we can pick up where we left off." Saying all this through gritted teeth, Pelerion was absolutely livid. He hated being ignored the most and Gero was adept at ignoring others. Indeed a combination that would spark flames no matter the location.

Hearing this, Kia decided to spare him no chance to go any further and turned to a certain someone, "So Captain, seeing as how we have practically no time left, and you finally finished engaging with your suit. Why don't you take these 'fine men' with you as you usually do and go beat the living daylights out of other 'fine men'."

"HEY! I was talki-" Pelerion began to yell at Kia, the original source of the issue but was shortly cut off once more.

"Oh you're right, Pelerion shut up you're being loud again. Everyone we have 58 seconds so move out!" Captain Himiya couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Did he somehow lose control in this place where he was law?

While the captain was ruminating on this, he and everyone else was heading out. Pelerion who was still stewing in the indignation of this passed by Kia only to hear a remark in a voice so cold that his hair stood on end. "Since an ant wants to be seen, do be careful that it isn't crushed."
