Chains Of Pride

Chapter 20 - Depart (Pt 3)

Rikona was acutely disgusted by Mayuri at this point when she stared at him, it wasn't any different though as in her mind, this was the last time. A light flashed in her eyes while her gaze turned severe, the surrounding temperature dropped. The men that surrounded her and her sister felt the changes and subconsciously stepped back out of reflex.

Mayuri, on the other hand, who felt her gaze, instead of feeling ecstatic suddenly knelt down in pain, feeling a head-splitting headache.

"Aaaaahhhh!!" he released a guttural shriek and started to hold his head as if he was trying to keep it together. "Wh-...…Aahhhhhhh!!!!" he was incapable of even asking for help.

"Wh-what's happening to him?!" The director was clearly scared stiff at this moment before his eyes caught the scene of Rikona's intense glare. The commander and his men, on the other hand, didn't even know where to point their guns at this point, were they fighting an invisible enemy now?

They certainly didn't sign up for this, it was supposed to be an easy job, capture two girls and seize their possessions. Of course,, the director didn't say what the girls were researching, intending on keeping that particular detail to himself.

The scene finally peaked when Mayuri started to bleed from his eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Shortly after, his screams stopped, his eyes were devoid of the pain and suffering he so aptly displayed moments before, he then fell forward, and the only thing that could be heard was the forced breathing of everyone except the two girls, even Makoto was beyond terrified at this point.

"This silence is a bit awkward so...it'll help a bit if we all stop focusing on the disfigured head over yonder, or whatever you want to call it, and I'm sure this will all be much easier to get ahea-"

"Aah!"

Rikona, who was wholly unmoved by the fact that she just killed someone, even deciding to joke about it a bit, was stopped short before she could reach her punch line. A shout escaped from one of the soldiers who was visibly moved by the earlier scene, he then proceeded to shakily point his gun at the girls in a fit of panic, not knowing what to expect.

"Soldier collect yourself!" The commander being a lot more disciplined than his subordinates, quickly tried to calm the distressed soldier before he did anything they would all regret.

Though the situation now hosted a tense atmosphere, Kura was taking in the whole situation with less than sufficient interest until she saw the gun shaking in the young soldier's hand and started to glare at him a lot more seriously.

She was intending to knock him out as they didn't need to go around killing everyone. However, the soldier seeing her gaze landing in his direction, feared that what took Mayuri would come from her somehow, the gun moved, pointing between her and her sister, and the trigger was pulled.

Bang!

Kura's eyes went wide with shock, calculating what had just happened. She was trying to stop a soldier from making a stupid mistake, then there was a loud sound. Afterwards, she saw her sister, who was right beside her, suddenly stagger backwards before falling to the ground.

Rikona!" Kura quickly rushed to her sister's side, holding her in her arms trying to see her condition, but she was blinded by the tears falling from her eyes, she could only feel the slick, wet liquid coating her hands and the striking red that covered them.

"No no no Ri-Rikona?! You're not t-talking to me! Y-You're not calling me Bunny like you always do, please move! Do something! I-I-I don't lose my sister, I can't lose my sister!!" But seeing her sister fail to make even a sound, she looked towards the heavens and released a grief-filled bloodcurdling scream that nearly deafened everyone present.

"Aaahhhh!!"

With the tears still streaming down her face, the clouds grew and darkened to obscure what little light the sun graced the land with. All while the area around Kura and her sister warped as if space itself was twisting in a desperate attempt to bear the intense power being emitted from Kura. Lightning tore apart the firmament above, while thunder hammered the senses of everything within hundreds of miles.

The director and the commander with his men could barely keep their bearings amid such a phenomenon, some even found the ground as their only safe haven, "What godliness have these women touched? What door have they opened?!" The director, at last, realized that no serum, no research could produce what he saw, this was simply Olympian.

After quite some time, the lightning and thunder ceased, yet the dark clouds above grew still as if watching in earnest anticipation of what was to come. The space that was so contorted not long ago was quickly mending itself, granting a clear view of the situation.

There was Rikona unmoving on the ground, lying peacefully, but Kura was no longer holding on to her. Wait, where's the other one? Where is the younger sister?

"Your lives are now a blight within my sight and a fuel to my discomfort. Kneel and hold out your necks."

A chilling voice bereft of any emotions and any sort of warmth was heard as their view cleared. Floating a foot from the ground was Kura, with a dispassionate demeanour.

Her skirt was waving as if it was flowing in the wind, yet there was none. A pair of chains were seen dangling from both her arms, they almost looked illusionary. A menacing clinking could be heard when the links collided every now and again.

When she had finished speaking earlier, a metallic sphere with intricate patterns engraved upon it had just finished assembling out of nowhere. It was only a foot large, and it rotated slowly, no less menacing than the being beside it.

Though she was not far above them, her eyes scanned each person as if an overlord or something greater was bestowing a cruel judgement. Everyone felt fear gripping their hearts, and all but the director and Makoto turned around and fled. One in total surrender knowing that among everyone here, he could not escape, and the other whose worries outweighed the fear he felt.

"Pressure."

A single word was uttered from her lips, and the sphere changed its form ever so slightly to reveal a core of darkness, an invisible pressure spread out and stopped everyone in their tracks.

There were a little over 30 men, including the commander who were now prostrating on the ground through no will of their own.

"Concentrated shock-wave."

Another phrase escaped once again, at this time, all the soldiers broke out in a cold sweat, one word before robbed them of their freedom what would these words bring?

Their questions were soon answered as the metallic sphere once again shifted in appearance only a little once more, revealing that same cold dark core but from another location on the sphere.

It then trembled, a nearly imperceptible motion, but something that was seen by everyone here.

One of the soldiers lightly coughed and felt warm liquid running down his lips, touching it with his fingers, he saw it was his own blood.

At a closer look, it could be seen that this was the soldier that made the shot from before, this time he coughed a lot more violently, he eventually brought up blood and a lot more with it, some sort of shredded meat.

At this time that same voice shattered the eerie silence that eclipsed where they were, "The look of shock on your face tells me you don't know what's happening. So while you die, I will gift you with the knowledge of your inevitable demise."

She sighed when she said this, a dismal beauty if ever there was one, "Benevolence is such a burden, concentrated shock-wave as the name implies, emits a powerful vibration that can be focused on any body of mass.

Your entire body's internal organs are being shredded as we speak. Of course, I reduced the power of the shock just so you could live long enough to hear this. Now that you have received my gift, you may leave."

Just as Kura said this, her eyes flashed the same darkness within the core, and the sphere increased its motion.

The veins on the soldier's body tensed up before his eyes lost their light permanently. No further screams were made as all the organs, and internal body parts were all ruptured, his entire inner body a shredded mess.

"Urgh!"

Not long after, another soldier met the same fate, followed by another and so on. Kura's expression showed not a hint of remorse, she simply scanned, destroyed, then moved on, a quiet rage rampaged in her eyes.

"Kura?"

She finally locked eyes with the director, and it could clearly be seen where the soldiers were all dying, leading up to him

"Kura!"

She saw that he had no intention of leaving, he was stripped of the ambition he harboured so strongly before.

"KURA!"

She heard it again, that voice echoing in her head over and over again. Suddenly, a warm hand grabbed her wrist, a stark contrast to the cold atmosphere she created.

Her eyes shifted downward and caught that familiar jade white hand gripping her own and a m.a.t.u.r.e beauty that belonged to none but her sister.

Her countenance was slightly pale, but the spot where she bled from earlier was all but healed, leaving a small mark that would be gone given enough time. But it was indeed Rikona, leaning on Makoto's shoulder no less, he apparently escaped to her side during the confusion before she started her killing spree.

"Hey there bunny, why don't you float down here for a sec, and lend me another shoulder" A weak smile made its way across her face and Kura this seeing couldn't keep her eyes from welling up and flew right into her sister's c.h.e.s.t, who, with Makoto, all fell to the ground with a thud.
