“No.” Xia Weilan licked her lips and lowered her voice to a whisper, “You can’t sign this deal.”

Mo Beichen’s eyes flashed with brightness. “Give me a reason!”
“I previously heard from a friend who stayed there saying that there’s a problem with the water quality there. Although that place had been abandoned for a long time, the ground heavily polluted many years ago.”

Xia Weilan said in a half-true and half-false manner.

In fact, she knew about this from the news she watched in her previous life. After that, when they were about to start the construction, they found out that there was some issue with the soil but someone deliberately concealed the information and made Mo Corp who participated in the investment later suffered a lot of losses. 

“Just because of a friend? And you wanted to make me give up on this deal?” Mo Beichen said in an impressive tone.

“Trust me.” Xia Weilan knew that she wouldn’t be able to produce any proof on such short notice, thus she could only look at him sincerely.

“Otherwise, you could drag it for a few more days and do some investigation before you make a decision.”

When they returned to the conference room, it was obvious that President Zhang was in fury. When he saw the both of them coming in, he immediately slammed the table and said, “President Mo, The reason why I am willing to sit here was that I trusted Mo Corp’s sincerity. I never expected that President Mo was not taking this seriously at all that even a mere secretary could interrupt our meeting!”

President Zhang was a short-tempered man. Now that he was being treated as such, of course, he would want to get back at it.

“I’m sorry for my failure to perform my duty.” Xia Weilan quickly apologized. She really did misconduct after all. 

“Hmph!” President Zhang let out a hmph and stood up. “It seems that we can’t come to an agreement on our business talk today. I have some other matters to attend to. I’ll make a move.”

President Zhang was certain that Mo Beichen was really interested in the deal of that piece of land. So he was not in a hurry to seal the deal. He made a pose and walked out without taking a glance at Xia Weilan.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the office, Xia Roulin was keeping an eye on the conference room. When she saw President Zhang slamming the door furiously as he walked out and Xia Weilan walking to the door with a hideous expression, she couldn’t help but covered her mouth and laughed.

“Miss Xia, are you listening?” The manager stared at Xia Roulin oddly.

“I’m listening, manager.” Xia Roulin put on a straight face once again.

The manager took a glance outside the window and found that the conference room door was tightly shut and there was absolutely nothing peculiar. Thus, he didn’t say anything but continued with the previous conversation.

In the conference room, Mo Beichen sat on the chair grimly with Xia Weilan standing in front of him. 

Mo Beichen made a call in front of her. “Go investigate if there’s any pollution problem with the soil in the north city.”

After he hung up the phone, he started to get his revenge on Xia Weilan. “Did you know how long I had waited for you in the conference room? Didn’t you tell me that you won’t be late this morning? Look what you’ve done!”

“I’m sorry, I did wrong.” Xia Weilan lowered her head and felt embarrassed.

“Hmph!” When Mo Beichen thought about her rushing to school, filming with another guy, he felt very irritated. 

He said furiously, “Stay here and reflect upon yourself. Do not come out without my order.”

Mo Beichen walked out as soon as he finished his words.

After a while, Xia Roulin opened the conference room door and said mockingly, “Oh, isn’t this Sis Weilan? What’s wrong? Did you get yourself into trouble?”

“Xia Roulin, why are you here!” Xia Weilan immediately guarded herself against her.

“Hehe.” Xia Roulin was in a very good mood and sat on a chair. She said in disdain, “I came to represent Xia Corp in a business meeting, I never expect to run into such a good show. The young miss of Xia family being a secretary for others and was even late, making Mo Corp lose a deal. Haha, if grandpa knew about this, he probably would be infuriated by your stupidity!”

“Are you done? If you’re done, you can get out now!” Xia Weilan didn’t want to talk nonsense with her.

Seeing that Xia Weilan was at loss for words, Xia Rolin was even more delighted. “You must be getting into a rage from humiliation. Haha. This is what you are capable of anyway!”

Xia Weilan already felt depressed. When she saw Xia Roulin hovering around like a fly, she let out a cold laugh as she said, “What am I capable of? I am the young madam of the Mo family. Isn’t this something that you can’t even yearn for even in your dream? You can’t even match this capability of mine.”

“Xia Weilan!” Xia Roulin immediately sprang up and pointed her finger at Xia Weilan.

“Don’t be too happy yet. Sooner or later, you will be kicked out from the Mo family. How much longer do you think Beichen-ge can tolerate you?”

“What are you doing?” The sound of a man shouting was heard. Mo Beichen walked in front of Xia Weilan and protected her behind him. “Who allowed you to come in?”

“Beichen-ge.” Xia Roulin restrained her vicious behaviour in a flash. But still said unwillingly, “Don’t be fooled by her. She was flirting around at school. She doesn’t even deserve to be with you. Can’t you see it?”

Mo Beicen squinted and the vicious aura around him appeared suddenly. “Can’t I see it? So, you sent me those pictures yesterday?” 

“What pictures?” Xia Weilan asked in confusion.

“What if it was from me? They were all real!” Xia Roulin stared at Xia Weilan angrily. 

Mo Beichen took out his phone and made a call.

“In the future, Xia Roulin is not allowed to participate in any business meeting from the Xia family. And she is not allowed to step into the Mo Corp’s main entrance. Get the security to bring her out now!”

Hearing such an order, Xia Roulin’s face became pale. Her mind suddenly went blank and she stood on the spot, stunned. 

“Beichen-ge…”

Mo Beichen didn’t even take a look at her and held Xia Weilan’s hand. “Come with me!”

Xia Weilan obediently followed Mo Beichen and left. Looking at Mo Beichen who walked in front of her in silence, the upset feelings previously had all vanished.

Mo Beichen only let go of her hand after they were inside the President’s office.

“What did Xia Roulin mean by the pictures?” A gleam of light flashed across Xia Weilan and she immediately asked.

Mo Beichen replied with a cold face, “It was those pictures of you getting very close with another guy at school. They were all a result of  camera tricks.”

After hearing Mo Beichen’s explanation, Xia Weilan let out a sigh of relief. “It’s good that you knew it was just camera tricks. I was even worried that you might be affected by others.”

“Hmph!” Mo Beichen stared at Xia Weilan coldly, “How can I get affected by others. But regardless of what, you are still the young madam of the Mo family. You need to be mindful of your reputation. Don’t bring shame to the Mo family!”

“Understood.” Xia Weilan said casually. After all, she was really not interested in provoking anyone.

At this moment, Mo Beichen’s phone rang. He took a glance and saw that it was from Xu Wei. He answered it immediately. “Yes.”

Xia Weilan also saw the caller ID. She was getting suspicious. Didn’t he mention that Xu Wei was on leave? So what’s going on now? Why is he still calling?
Mo Biechen could see Xia Weilan’s doubts. But he was not going to explain it. He hung up the phone and said in a relaxed manner, “I consider that you are making up for your fault by doing good deeds. There’s really a problem with the soil in north city. You can escape your punishment. But no more next time!”
