“Did I mention that you are allowed to drink on behalf of your daughter?” Mo Beichen put down the chopsticks and it seemed as though he didn’t want to eat anymore. He was speaking in an unfriendly manner.

“Yes, yes.” Xue Zhiqing couldn’t afford to offend Mo Beichen. He quickly poured a glass of wine for Xia Roulin. “My girl, hurry up and drink.”

Their intention today was to apologize. Xue Zhiqing understood that if Mo Beichen was not happy today, Xia Roulin would have to spend a few years in jail. Thus, he bore the pain in his heart and delivered the glass of wine beside Xia Roulin’s lips.

Xia Roulin’s expression was bitter. She emptied the glass in a gulp unwillingly. This time, she immediately passed out on the chair.

“Girl…” Xue Zhiqing felt his heart aching. 

He turned around and advised Mo Beichen, “President Mo, we came to apologize sincerely today. I hope you will spare Roulin.” 

“Mr Xue, you must be joking. I don’t have such a capability. We are now living in a society ruled by law. The law had its own justice.” Mo Beichen immediately stood up when he finished his words, “Thanks for the hospitality, Mr Xue. We must get going now.”
At this instant, Xia Weilan’s eyes were filled with brightness. She stood up quickly and followed behind Mo Beichen obediently. She felt so blessed to have Mo Beichen supporting her.

Xue Zhiqing chased after them, wanting to say something. A few police officers dashed inside and headed straight to the private room that Xia Roulin was in.

“Mr Xue, we received an order to bring Xia Roulin back to the police station. She is not allowed to go out before she is cleared from suspicion.” The police officer immediately said to Xue Zhiqing. 

The other two officers said nothing and went into the private room to bring Xia Roulin out.

“Who…who passed you the order!” Xue Zhiqing was furious.

However, those police officers said nothing more and took Xia Roulin into the police car and drove away.

 Inside the Maybach parked alongside the road, Xia Weilan laughed hard when she saw the police bringing Xia Roulin who was unconscious like a dead pig away.

“Hubby, can you guess how the elegant Xia Roulin would react when she wakes up and finds herself back in jail again?” When Xia Weilan finished her word, she thought about something and suddenly covered her mouth and laughed joyfully.

“You’re already happy with this?” Mo Beichen lifted the corner of his mouth. Perhaps he was infected by Xia Weilan’s smiling face. 

“Happy!” Xia Weilan grinned as she said, “Hubby, this is all your effort.”  

The next day.

The moment Xia Weilan reached school, she saw Gu Yuwei waiting for her. 

“Weilan.” Gu Yuwei looked at her awkwardly. “I have something to tell you.”

“Yes?” Xia Weilan walked with Gu Yuwei to a tree, “Is your brother back to school already?”

“Yeah, he went back,” said Gu Yuwei. “Yesterday, someone called me and intended to give me a big amount of money so that I will agree to settle things privately with Xia Roulin.”

“So, what’s your decision?” Xia Weilan was not surprised at all.

“Weilan, we are normal civilians. We have no means to win over those powerful people.” Gu Yuwei said in hesitation. “They wanted me to spare Xia Roulin. I’m still thinking over it.”

After Gu Yuwei finished speaking, she didn’t dare to look at Xia Weilan. It was clear that she had already made a decision.

Yesterday’s phone call was intimidating and tempting. Any clever person would choose to quiet down the matter.

“So, what’s your brother’s thought on it?” asked Xia Weilan.

“He’s still unaware of it.” Gu Yuwei looked worried. “But my brother will not agree to it.”

“Weilan, what should I do?” Gu Yuwei was so worried that her brows were already tied in a knot. She was like one of those little ducks that were caught in a giant wave.

Xia Weilan was calm. “If I’m to give my opinion, I felt that your brother should be the one making the final call for he was the victim in this whole incident. Moreover, I can see that your brother was resolute. If you are scared, I can get Mo Beichen to arrange for you to study abroad. On behalf of Xia Family, I can provide you with the school fees and your living expenses. After all, you were innocently dragged into Xia family’s dispute. My grandpa has no objection to it.”

“Okay,” Gu Yuwei let out a sigh of relief and thanked Xia Weilan again.

Soon, it would be summer. Xia Weilan went to school in the morning and visited Old Master Xia at the hospital in the evening.

Waves of laughter from two old men were heard coming from the ward, “Haha, you lose again, old man.”

Old Master Mo sat in front of the hospital bed energetically. A Go board was laid on the bed and Old Master Xia was having his fluid infusion while playing against Old Master Mo.

“One more round, one more round!” Seeing that he had lost again, Old Master Xia didn’t want to accept his defeat, “It must be my bad stamina lately. It’s no big deal losing two games. I’ll surely win in the next one.”

Xia Weilan carried a fruit basket when she came inside with Mo Beichen and saw this scene.

“Grandpa, don’t get too excited. The doctor said you need to rest,” Xia Weilan said helplessly.

“That’s right. Since Weilan had already said so, let’s stop playing. If I knew you would get so worked out, I wouldn’t have played Go with you,” Old Master Mo waved his hands and quickly packed away the board and shoved the responsibility to Old Master Xia.

Old Master Mo did not revoke but extended his hand to pat on the chair beside him. “Come Weilan, sit beside grandpa.”

Before Xia Weilan sat down, Old Master Xia also said, “Come beside the bed, come sit beside grandpa.”

The two old men glanced at each other and suddenly became tough, 

“Alright, alright.” Xia Weilan felt a little helpless. She sat on the bedside to check on Old Master Xia’s condition. “How are you feeling today, grandpa?”

“Everything else was good, I just felt a little distressed,” Old Master Xia said honestly.

“Grandpa, I bought some fruits. Which type do you want to eat? I’ll peel it for you,” Xia Weilan said very gently.

Old Master Mo was a little jealous. He dragged Mo Beichen over to sit beside him. He watched as Xia Weilan sat beside the bed, peeling fruit for Old Master Xia. “It’s good to be sick as there’s someone to serve you. I wanted to get sick too.”

Mo Beichen did not show any temperament. But he was radiating with noble aura from his bones. Even Old Master Xia also glanced at him from time to time. 

“Who would want to get sick?” Xia Weilan gave half of the fruit to Old Master Mo.

Old Master Mo took the fruit. He took a bite and felt a lot more relief.

Xia Weilan curled her lips and felt that the two old men in front of her were really cute.

Xia Weilan returned to the bedside to sit beside Old Master Mo. She said gently, “Grandpa, the school holiday will start in another two more days. I’ll have more time to visit you by then.”

“Summer holiday is starting so soon?” Old Master Xia said in surprise, “That’s great, that’s so considerate of you.”

Old Master Mo interrupted, “It’s a good opportunity during the summer holiday for Weilan to go to Mo Corps for an internship. She can also spend more time building up the relationship with Beichen.”

Old Master Mo had always felt that Mo Beichen was a stubborn old wood who was always emotionless toward anything.
