“How’s her condition?” Mo Beichen said in a deep voice.

“The doctor said that she was not bitten but she went into a shock. They had already administered her with tranquilizer but it was no use.” 

Rui Li’s voice was as cold as before but she felt extremely remorseful. 

“I got it.” Mo Beichen’s eyes never left Xia Weilan’s pale face. 

He frowned in displeasure. 

“Mo-ge. This thing happened because of my carelessness. I will give you an explanation.” Rui Li left as soon as she finished her words.

Mo Beichen sat at the edge of the bed and caressed Xia Weilan’s brows that were tied in a knot. He felt a jolt of pain in his heart as he saw her biting her lower lip looking painfully depaired.  

“Xia Weilan, wake up.” Mo Beichen said.

But Xia Weilan could not hear anything. More cold sweats formed on her forehead. Mo Beichen was left with no choice but to call her name repeatedly.

Xia Weilan was trapped in the nightmare and was enveloped in a mist now. She dreamt that she was once again back in that dark basement with Ouyang Mingqi being resolute and extended her torment. Shortly, Xia Roulin walked in proudly. Not only did she kicked and punched her, she even left a sack filled with little snakes.

The snakes flicked their forked tongue at her and surrounded her. Within the damp space, Xia Weilan had to where to dodge at all. Eventually, she was bitten by the snakes.

Xia Weilan, who was already weak from starvation, could only repeatedly kick the snakes away. She prayed that someone would open the door of the dark cell to get her out.

Inside the dark cell, Xia Weilan eventually gave up on all hopes.

Xia Weilan who was trapped in a borderless darkness suddenly heard a voice calling out to her urgently. That voice was captivative. Xia Weilan subconsciously followed the source of the voice and walked toward it. 

Without realizing, the snakes around her disappeared along with the dark cell. What’s left in front of her was a dazzling white light. 

“Xia Weilan, wake up.”

Mo Beichen saw her lashes fluttered. He called her name even more urgently. Xia Weilan opened her eyes and everything was chaotic to her. After she got used to it, she realized the face in front of her eyes was the face that she was familiar with for her two lifetimes.

“Mo…” Xia Weilan opened her mouth but felt light headed. Her throat was extremely dry and her voice was very hoarse as if it was not hers.

Mo Beichen helped her to sit upright with her back leaned against the head of the bed. He poured her a glass of warm water and placed it beside her lips, “Drink some water first.”

The man who was violent just now had changed his expression as fast as flipping the pages of the book. His expression was now as warm as the sun.

‘Gulp~Gulp!’ Xia Weilan’’s brain was still blank, but she obediently listened to him and took a few gulps of water.

After that, Mo Beichen fed her something. Xia Weilan ate it muddle-headed and went into a deep sleep again. This time, Xia Weilan had a good sleep. She no longer had those strange dreams.

The next morning in the ward.

“You invited me over just because your wife was in a shock?”

Dr. Lee was a renowned psychologist and he simply had no time to attain such a small matter.

“She had frequent nightmares at night. Yesterday she muttered that she wanted to kill someone.” 

Mo Beichen was concise. He felt that there’s more to Xia Weilan’s condition yesterday.

Dr.Lee looked at the young lady on the bed in astonishment, “I will stay here and monitor her for a few days. If it is just a normal psychological trauma, we’ll need to find out the source that triggers her and conduct counselling session together with some medicine. But if it is something more serious, we might need to perform hypnosis to help her erase the painful memories.”

Mo Beichen tightened the hands behind his back. Psychological trauma? Was it because of the Ling Family?

By the time Xia Weilan woke up, Riu Li was the only one inside the ward. She took care of her for the following days. Beside her, there was another kind doctor who always came to check on her. Mo Beichen did not show up for two days. 

“Ling Xuefei was found for putting those poisonous snakes. President Mo is handling this personally.”

Rui Li only talked about it briefly. Afterall, it is very important for a patient to take more rest.

During lunch, the TV in the ward was showing the news broadcast. 

“This morning, a lot of products from the Ling Corps were reported to be exceeding the regulatory standards. In addition, Mo Corps had just signed a contract with Ling Corp. Mo Corp revealed that the product quality of Ling Corp did not meet the standard and were substandard products. President Mo declared that he would file a lawsuit on Ling Corp.” 

Xia Weilan watched the news in shock. In the news footage, Ling Jianchen walked out from the Ling Corp building looking exhausted. He was surrounded by a lot of reporters.

“President Ling, you had been in a profitable business since you started the company. Now you have been exposed, can you share with us how you are feeling now?”

“President Ling, you took substandard products and sold it out as luxury jewelry. Who else is participating in this?”

Ling Jianchen stumbled in embarrassment.

He repeatedly denied in front of the camera, “Those are rumours, they are all rumours.”

However, the reporters were unwilling to let him slide past so easily. Ling Jiancheng faced another wave of harsh interviews. Xia Weilan who was initially shocked changed her expression to coldness as if she was rejoicing over Ling Jiancheng’s misfortune. After the news finished, she switched off the TV with a sneer forming at the corner of her mouth.

Ling Jiancheng had done a lot of bad deeds, this is certainly karma. Rui Li returned to the ward after refilling water. She did not bother when she saw that the TV was switched off.

“Mo-ge will be here in a while. You can take a nap first.” Rui Li sat casually at one side.

That afternoon, Mo Beichen really appeared. He was wearing a black outfit and his eyes were colder than before. But that coldness disappeared the moment he entered the ward. 

“Are you feeling better?”

“Hubby, I want to discharge. Let’s go home today.” Xia Weilan immediately told him excitedly. Her eyes were dark and bright like a little puppy.

She was already in the hospital for three days and her body had already recovered.

“Alright, I’ll listen to you.” Mo Beichen couldn’t help but caress her forehead. 

“Let’s get out of the hospital now.” Xia Weilan was already bored to death.

“Okay, I’ll go see the doctor to collect your medicine. You’ll wait here.”

Mo Beichen left and went directly to Dr.Lee’s office. 

“How’s my wife’s condition?”

“I’ve learned that although she had an unhappy childhood and her foster family treated her badly, she did not really put that in her heart. But there are times where she will portray her ruthless side. For example, she would say that some people were born to die, them being alive would disgust others and so on. Dr.Lee passed the medicine to Mo Beichen. Mo Beichen rubbed his thumb on the medicine bottle. He concealed the obscure look in his eyes and left the office.
