Before Old master Mo reached the door, Mo Beichen and Xia Weilan came in together walking side by side. They looked like a pair of harmonious newlyweds. My child, you are finally here!” Old master Mo looked at her in satisfaction.

“Grandpa, Big Brother, Big Sister-in-law.”Xia Weilan greeted them with manners. They once again returned to the living room. Xia Weilan sat beside Old master Mo while Mo Beichen sat at the other side. Mo Donglin and his wife could only sit across the table.

The first thing that Old master Mo was concerned about was whether Xia Weilan and Mo Beichen could get along well. He then asked about the progress of Xia Weilan’s studies. He then took out a square box from his pocket. Xia Weilan quickly swept her eyes across the box and she had an idea of what it was about. She looked at Old master Mo in silence.

Xia Weilan gripped the box and gently swept her fingers across the box. The box was made from silk. The content inside must be very important for it was placed inside such an impressive box. Seeing that Xia Weilan frowned, not making a word nor movement, and wasn’t in a hurry to open the box, Old master Mo prompted, “Have a look, my child.”

Xia Weilan suddenly lifted her head to look at Mo Beichen. Her gaze was complex. Mo Beichen was a little astounded as he looked into her eyes. Not waiting for his reaction, Xia Weilan frowned again. She opened the box in her hands gently.

An entire set of jade jewelry appeared before her eyes, it was the same as the previous life. The jade was of first-class quality and the workmanship had cleverly retained the natural characteristic of the raw stone. The polished jade that had gone through the baptism of time emitted a gentle and pure ray. 

This was a priceless set of jewelry, let alone, it was passed down from generation to generation within Mo’s Family which made it even more meaningful. Xia Weilan once again looked at this set of jewelry and felt very complex.

In the past life, because she didn’t like Mo Beichen, even having this set of jewelry with her was an eyesore to her. Thus she had not even once thought of wearing it. This time…

Mo Beichen looked at Xia Weilan cautiously, the little girl reached out to touch the jewelry and couldn’t hide her happiness as she replied to Old master Mo, “It’s really beautiful. Can I wear it?” Of course you can. This is meant for you.”Old master Mo was smiling. But when his gaze landed on Mo Beichen, he said harshly, “Mo-boy, put it on for your wife! You blockhead!”

Mo Beichen secretly twitched the corners of his mouth but he still stood up and walked behind Xia Weilan. Xia Weilan suddenly tightened her back because Mo Beichen placed his knuckles around her neck followed by the cold jewelry circling on her neck.  She closed her eyes. His touch was like a spring breeze brushing across her skin. Looking at her expression, Mo Beichen couldn’t help but gently stare at her fair side profile feeling moved.

“Miss Xia is really lucky to be wearing such a piece of good looking jewelry. It looked so good on you that I can only feel envy. No wonder 3rd Brother Mo is fascinated and married you so quickly.”A gentle voice came across the couch from Liu Yinyin who couldn’t hold back any longer.

Mo Beichen quickly put on the rest of the jewelry and stood upright. He stared at her coldly. It was not difficult to tell that he was dissatisfied. Xia Weilan opened her eyes and looked at Liu Yinyin with interest. She spoke casually, “So Sister-in-law also thinks that I and Beichen are well-matched? We are indeed destined by God, even our Sister-in-law can see that.”

Liu Yinyin wanted to retort but because there were others around, she dare not say anything that was too offensive. She simply replied, “How can I be able to tell. I just felt that Miss Xia looks pretty.”Others might not understand what’s the meaning behind the topic that Liu Yinyin suddenly brought up. But Xia Weilan understood very clearly.

In the past life, Liu Yinyin had always admired Mo Beichen. Eventually, it became very obvious that even Xia Weilan had fought with Mo Beichen over it and thereafter they started sleeping in a separate room. Xia Weilan looked meaningfully at Liu Yinyin as scenes from the past played in her mind.

Liu Yinyin saw the look in Xia Weilan’s eyes and she shut her mouth and looked away in guilt. Strange, why is this girl looking at me in such a cold manner, making me afraid to stare into her eyes.

Mo Beichen quietly observed Xia Weilan and saw that she had restored her natural serene expression. Xia Weilan didn’t want to get involved too much with Liu Yinyin. In this life, as long as Liu Yinyin doesn’t provoke her, she will not bother her.

Xia Weilan walked toward Mo Beichen and said beside his ears, “That’s for sure. Our Xia-er  is such a remarkable beauty. Who dares to say she’s not.”Old master Mo praised Xia Weilan.“Do you think it looks good on me? I’ll wear it for you every day!”

Mo Beichen felt his ears itched with a burning sensation. Her warm breath fell on the back of his ears, making his ear buzz for a while. He didn’t even hear a single word that Xia Weilan said. Xia Weilan twitched her lips when she didn’t get a response from Mo Beichen for she thought that he didn’t want to reply. However, she wasn’t aware that if she had looked at him, she would have noticed that Mo Beichen had a blank face for about 5 seconds before he concealed it.

Xia Weilan was the center of attraction throughout the dinner. Old master Mo kept introducing different dishes to her. Mo Beichen was quiet whereas Liu Yinyin didn’t eat much as she was already full from anger. Mo Donglin looked at Mo Beichen from time to time feeling sour.    

Xia Weilan ate the most during dinner, next was Mo Beichen. Old master Mo was too busy to eat, he looked at Xia Weilan and smiled pleasantly. Mo Donglin and Liu Yinyin left very quickly after dinner. Xia Weilan continued to chit chat with Old master Mo. At around 9 o’clock, Old master Mo reluctantly sent the couple off.

“Xia-er, come back more often with Mo-boy.  If he’s busy with work, you can call me and I’ll get someone to pick you up.” Old master Mo sincerely liked this granddaughter-in-law. She’s obedient, fair, delicate, he felt happy by just looking at her.“Alright.” Xia Weilan had agreed and left with the black Maybach.

In the car, the atmosphere was harmonious. Xia Weilan carefully put the jewelry back into the box and held the box tightly in her arms. “You really like it so much?” a male voice as deep as the melody of a cello appeared in the car all of a sudden. “Yes, I like it.  It’s priceless.”Xia Weilan nodded.

Priceless? Mo Beichen eyes darkened. As it turns out that she liked it so much because of its value. Xia Weilan caught a glimpse of his expression and knew that he must have misunderstood her words. She quickly added, “Do you know why I like it? It’s because I like you and I like everything that’s surrounding us. Furthermore, this is our family heirloom. This will be passed down to our future daughter-in-law.”

Inside the quiet car, Xia Weilan’s words were extremely gentle. 

Mo Beichen slowed down the car but snorted, “Smooth-talker!”This little girl of course would say pleasant things just to amuse him.“I only smooth-talk you!” Xia Weilan nodded her head admitting to it. The distance to home seemed to be getting longer.
