In the twentieth year of their marriage, although Shen Xingsui was not considered a legendary star, he was still considered a first-line artist. He has acted in well-known dramas and composed many golden songs that everyone knows. Now, if he were to walk in public, he could be recognized almost instantly. It took him twenty-two years to go this far.

As an artist his size, Shen Xingsui had his own studio, and he no longer worked so hard like during his youth. In his free time, he preferred to travel, eat, and enjoy the world of two with his husband.

Shen Xingsui is 45 years old this year, and many people, including movie fans and his loyal fans, are celebrating his birthday.

When Fu Jinxiao picked him up, he was already drunk, despite not having touched alcohol for a long time. Maybe he was too happy today, so he couldn’t control himself all of a sudden.

Fu Jinxiao sighed and said, “I can’t believe you got this drunk. Do you think that you’re still young? When you wake up tomorrow morning with a killer hangover, don’t blame me.”

Shen Xingsui leaned on his shoulder and said with a silly smile, “I’m happy today.”

Fu Jinxiao responded and asked him back, “So happy to celebrate your birthday?”

“No,” Shen Xingsui whispered, “It’s because I successfully finished another year with you, safely and smoothly.”

His voice was very low and light, but it still clearly reached Fu Jinxiao’s ears. Shen Xingsui held the man’s hand and said, “I am very happy with every day I spend with you.”

Fu Jinxiao smiled. The thin wrinkles around his eyes were not prominent, but it was still stretched. “I know we can be even happier in the future.”

Shen Xingsui was taken aback, and asked, “Why?”

“Because we will have many more years together,” Fu Jinxiao took the hangover soup handed over by the servant, looked at his lover and said, “You can look forward to it to your heart’s content. We will have many, many days to look forward to.”

Shen Xingsui was drinking hangover soup obediently. Maybe because his mind was muddled by the alcohol, so his intelligence level took a heavy hit. “Will we be together forever?”

Fu Jinxiao’s smile stretched wider. He replied in a hushed, firm voice. “Yes, we will.”

“We are husband and wife,” Fu Jinxiao sat on the edge of the bed and looked at him reverently. “We are the closest people in the world who have no secrets. Of course we will always be together.”

“N-no secret…”

Maybe he was really drunk, or maybe today was really an unusual day. Under such circumstances, Shen Xingsui suddenly showed some different emotions. He looked at Fu Jinxiao, rushed over and whispered, “Actually, I have a secret.”

Fu Jinxiao’s pupils shook slightly. The younger man smelt thickly of alcohol, so it lessened the impact of his words. He held him steady, and asked in a low voice, “What’s the secret?”

Shen Xingsui looked at him with misty eyes, then smiled lightly and said, “I can’t tell you~”

“……”

Fu Jinxiao chuckled lightly.

His lover was like a child when he was drunk. Even though they were both in their 40s and 50s now, and could be regarded as old men who had braved many storms, but Shen Xingsui was forever cute in his mind. Especially during times like these.

Fu Jinxiao whispered, “Then you want to keep a secret from me?”

“Yeah!” Shen Xingsui nodded seriously. But after thinking for a while, he leaned over and whispered in Fu Jinxiao’s ear, “Although I can’t tell you, I’m afraid I’ll forget it when I get older, so I wrote them all down in my diary.”

Fu Jinxiao was stunned.

He knew that Shen Xingsui had a habit of diligently writing something in the past few years, but he didn’t expect that he was actually writing a diary.

“May I take a look at it?” Fu Jinxiao asked with a gentle smile.

Shen Xingsui thought for a while and replied, “But you can’t tell it to anyone! It’s a secret.”

Fu Jinxiao’s smile deepened. “Of course, I promise.”

After putting his wife to sleep, Fu Jinxiao got up and went to Shen Xingsui’s study. He would not come here usually. Inside were packed with many shelves containing Shen Xingsui’s treasures – be it books about music and film, records, and the most cherished of all, Fu Jinxiao’s limited edition albums inside the glass cabinets.

Shen Xingsui likes collecting these things. After marriage, he kept what Fu Jinxiao used to keep for himself, and took some away every year. He’s like a little hamster hoarding food, slowly filling up this shelf. Very adorable.

Fu Jinxiao walked to a desk, opened the drawer, and found Shen Xingsui’s diary. This diary seemed to be quite old and chock-full of his wife’s distinct hand-writting.

[This year is 2031, the ninth year of my rebirth. When I woke up in the morning, Teacher Fu said that we would travel to a place in two days. I have a deep impression of that city. It was the place where I had a car accident in my previous life…]

[I am 34 years old this year. On our wedding anniversary, Teacher Fu gave me 10% of his company’s shares. He said that next time I go to the company to visit him, I can walk as a rightful part of the company. In fact, I don’t need these at all. I am also a part of him. When I woke up in the morning, I found that he was not in the house. At that moment, I was very scared. No matter how many years after I was reborn, sometimes I inexplicably feel that everything is just a dream…]

[Teacher Fu always said that it would be nice if he had known me sooner, because I knew him earlier than the reverse. But he doesn’t know that I know him much longer than he thought. It spans my two lifespans…]

After reading the entire diary, Fu Jinxiao returned to their bedroom. The man’s face was calm, but the waves in his eyes were turbulent. Only the person involved knew and understood.

Seeing his lover peacefully sleeping on the bed, Fu Jinxiao walked over to lie down next to him, smelling his wife’s familiar scent, intertwining with wine. His heart was full of mixed feelings.

After falling asleep with his lover in his arms, he opened his eyes again–

He unexpectedly discovered that the surrounding room was not their shared bedroom at home, but a somewhat unfamiliar environment.

“Erge!”

A boy’s voice suddenly sounded.

Fu Jinxiao turned around suddenly, and saw a very small child with black hair, brown eyes, round face, and a rebellious look. He said in a cheerful voice, “Shall I go to school together?”

An impatient voice came from outside. “You move so slowly, go by yourself.”

Although Fu Jinxiao didn’t recognize the little boy for an instant, he immediately recognized Jian Zhi’s voice. After all, this was the person he had hated for decades – he could recognize that annoying lilt even if he was burned to ashes.

Then this child…

Fu Jinxiao looked down at the little boy, and a smile slowly formed on the corner of his mouth. ‘This is the young Shen Xingsui, then?’

Shen Xingsui muttered, “I’ll be fine soon, just wait for me!”

The little boy brushed his teeth and washed his face quickly. During this period, because he washed his face too hard, water got into his eyes, and he rubbed it to soothe the pain. Fu Jinxiao, who was next to him, felt distressed. He came to help, but his hands went through Shen Xingsui’s body.

Shen Xingsui didn’t feel anything. He quickly wiped his face and ran out the door.

Fu Jinxiao was stunned on the spot. He didn’t know what state he was in, but he followed out anyway. At least he had one advantage – he could pass through walls freely.

Then, Shen Xingsui continued his routine. He arrived at his elementary school with the Jian family’s car. He was currently in the 2nd grade, and he was rather naughty, like a little rambunctious kid leading other children into doing mischief.

“Jian-ge, what are you playing during recess today?”

“Let’s go to the playground together.”

“How about going to the store? There’s a new toy out today.”

A group of children crowded around him. Shen Xingsui was the most eye-catching one among them. He was completely different from the shrinking violet youth Fu Jinxiao met for the first time. Shen Xingsui at this age was so confident, with pride carved into the marrow of his bones.

The children ran outside through Fu Jinxiao, their figures getting further and further away.

Fu Jinxiao stood where he was, and smiled softly. He was very happy. He could see a side of his lover that he didn’t know. No matter what the reason was, it was worth it.

you don’t know how happy I am when I found out that the author write them in quite detail during this age (proper middle-aged)! It’s quite a rarity, sadly.
