Baby Contract: Forced Deal With A Dragon

His mate would seldom ask for something or anything at all. So far, from the short time that they were together, Long Cheng was mostly the one that needed to offer or insist on it. 

Long Cheng felt like he needed to be already preparing himself for the fact that she would not be the typical wife a dragon shifter would get. It was not a big deal but it was still something that he needed to be realized sooner. 

Regardless, Long Cheng felt good hearing that he was needed. 

That was exactly the reason why, when Lu Meili asked for her things, he immediately felt annoyed for not being able to provide it because he was not allowed to bring them.

"I am sorry… Let me do a special request to the king later. It is best if you will be approved of house arrest instead." He offered sounding so dejected. 

Since Long Cheng needed to surrender almost all his things when he entered prison he was not able to even bring his mate change of clothes. 

If his mate would be granted house arrest, not only it would be easier for him to provide what she needed, Long Cheng could also have more time chance to interact with her to change Lu Meili's mind regarding the mating ceremony. 

Lu Meili hummed before nodding her head before she replied, "Don't worry about it. That only means you prison rules do not give any kind of favoritism regardless if you are royalty." She said with an expressionless face as she looked ahead. At that time, they just passed the large door of level 5 and nearing level 6. 

Despite her not looking upset because of Long Cheng still felt frustrated. He then suddenly called out the prison guards in front of them and demanded, "Oy! Give her new clothes later." He yells startled the guards that the suddenly stood alert because his voice was so loud and bounced against the stone walls. 

"Of course, Your Highness." One of the guards said affirming. His voice may be respectful but the glint of amus.e.m.e.nt could not be hidden on the guard's face. 

He was the same guard that informed earlier that his mate would be on the sixth level. Just like what they have done earlier, the guards looked at each other with hidden meaning. 

Despite seeing the suspicious exchange clearly, Long Cheng ignored it and only hissed unhappily. The guards have the right to do what was needed. 

Though he did not expect them to bring his mate somewhere that requires more clearance than necessary to just visit, Long Cheng still trusted that they were all doing the right thing. 

'I like her to be away from that prisoner…'  Long Cheng felt more at ease after thinking this. Prisoner 177 was not someone he wanted to be near her mate. 

The prisoners on that level two have unique circ.u.mstances that he was not yet ready to discuss to his mate in case she asked. 

Nevertheless, to be able to visit level six would require more patience for him. Just being cleared for level one and two requests were already testing his limit. 

For him to be allowed to get inside the prison, Long Cheng needed to be scanned thoroughly, while completely nude, to make sure that he did not have anything magical or would be helpful for the prisoner to escape. 

Even the bracelet earlier that was in his pocket was being asked to be left behind but he managed to convince them eventually since the bracelet did not have any magical property. 

All of Lu Meili's things were all magical items thus he was not allowed to bring them. The only one he managed to keep to his body was the beaded bracelet that she was wearing earlier. 

It was just a bracelet made of regular black wooden beads that seem to be from a poor market from another planet. Since it was something his mate wore since earlier, it might be important for her as well. 

If he was not with the prison guards at the moment, there would be a high chance he would need to do another set of clearances from the designated level's captain guard. 

"This place looks eerie. Like ghosts will suddenly appear." Lu Meili suddenly commented that interrupted his line of thoughts. 

This notion from her though earned laughter from everyone. "There is a ghost here actually. Are you afraid?" Long Cheng asked playfully. 

Anything that could not touch you was not worth it. It did not mean though that the royal prison would completely brush this off. 

"Do not worry, Ms. Lu, the entire royal prison has set up artifacts to avoid any spirits that can be dangerous to anyone." A guard from the back said assuring. 

"Yes. We cannot let anything happen regarding that again." Long Cheng added. 

Lu Meili shifted her gaze to him, "Again? So it did happen before?" She asked with raised brows. 

Though the place was getting darker per level, there were still lighted torches allowing them to see the way. 

Since that was the case, it was easy for the dragon shifter to still see everything. Not as bright as the daylight but enough for them to be comfortable to the place to walk around. 

Long Cheng nodded his head, before speaking softly, "It was a long time ago. There were incidents before that an outsider that could control spirits managed to possess some prisoners and some were guards too. That incident caused a lot of death that we are not able to prevent sooner." He explained gravely. 

Before the guards' biggest worry was mostly prisoners escaping using their cage. The magic restriction cages, stones, chains or cuffs were not yet used since the Shou planet was not yet open to an outsider and refused to interact with them. 

That was the reason as well why outsiders that had their sh.i.p.s drifted close to the galaxy near Shou planet were immediately detained or imprisoned. 

"Really? I hope whoever done that is already dead." Lu Meili said casually which Long Cheng could only smile sadly. 

"We can hope for that mage's death soon." It was a tradition that they were all used at despite not knowing or not caring much about the outsider's background. 

Because of that, they were not able to prevent or stop a dark mage to cause death in their prison. On top of it all, the dark mage ended up escaping and still unfound until now.  

Even the kings from another country needed to send help to the dragon shifters to capture the dark mage. However, their combined efforts were still futile. 

 "Are you feeling scared of the ghost?" Long Cheng teased as he saw the large door of the sixth level. That also means he needed to be away from her until the next time of the visit. 

Lu Meili hummed, "Any ghost that can kill is something to be afraid of right? Unless that ghost can save me, then I may consider helping it live again." She replied with a smile on her face.
