Chapter 11 - Visit to Southern Water Tribe

"My Lord I have an important letter to deliver from your grandson Kuro."

Azulon was sitting alone in his courtyard sipping on some tea before one of the star marshals has come and handed him a scroll that Kuro wanted him to read.

Azulon wanted to ask the marshal but decided to read the scroll letter as it will probably have all the answers.

Dear Grandfather

It's me Kuro. As you are reading this the world knows that me and my brother are 'dead' but in actuality we have faked it all. Why you ask? One reason was because as of right now the palace is not safe for us brothers; during the war there were earth kingdom spies and assassins aiming for my brother's life. But there's more to it than that we have many reasons but I can not explain all of them.

What about my father you may be asking? I don't want you to tell him yet believe me I have a good reason. All for the good of the family. I have left a message to Zuko too, he'll be the one to tell him.

Here's the main part of this letter. The reason I have sent you this letter is to warn you of your impending doom. Someone here in this household is aiming to kill you and not in the conventional means of sending assassins but rather poison from the ones you trust the most. The day you receive this letter you are to leave a decree making Ozai the fire lord and then pack your belongings and leave the palace at night. As immediately as possible without getting noticed, please take all the star marshals with you. Go to Gaoling and set up a tea shop called the Emerald Dragon but remember to hide your bending.

After Finishing reading this letter grandfather remember to burn this letter as this was meant to be only read by your eyes. See ya in a few years Grandfather.

"Damned boy! You're going to give this old man a heart attack."

Azulon then burnt the letter in his palm without hesitation and then the next day the fire lord disappeared and only left a letter decreeing that Ozai is to be fire lord.

As for Zuko...

Dear Little Zuko

Me and Lu Ten have survived the war but don't tell anyone. We have gone on a journey around the world to get strong and to find a wife for your cousin, though Lu Ten turned pink and exclaimed he didn't need one. I'm sure he does need one.

Anyway don't tell anyone about us even my father Iroh, I only told grandpa who's alive and well by the time you received this letter.

Look after my father cause I'm afraid the grief might be too severe for him to handle only you can save him.

I want you to search for us after 3 years have passed this very day only then will you begin your journey along with meeting some power requirements otherwise you can't survive on your own. Take my father with you after those 3 years make him explore the world.

.....

After that Zuko read the power requirements and decided to hide the letter.

Zuko was happy that his cousins are alive and well but he feels bad as he can't tell his uncle that they are alive meaning that he'll have to see his uncle be sad for a long while and he couldn't stop him from being sad as even comforting him wouldn't reduce his uncle's sorrow. He felt as if a mountain of burden was placed on his shoulders the moment he read the letter. But will he manage? Zuko wondered himself but maybe he could but he didn't put much thought as kids aren't that deep in thoughts.

As for the duo of brothers these few days they were sailing was pretty...silent. The brothers still feel sad that they are hiding from their father, just imagining Iroh crying makes them silently weep but now it's done and they can't turn back. They could just hope their father will be alright that he won't fall into the darkness and depression; Kuro hopes Zuko can heal his father's heart.

"Little Bro where are we going? And how long will it take us? We've been going for days and we still haven't stopped, our supplies are soon going to run low after a couple of weeks."

"It's going to take us another month or plus to get there it's at the very south. We're going to the Southern Water Tribe and we'll train there. We can begin training right now if you want."

"Really? But isn't that the place that grandpa Azulon wanted to destroy, won't they have a grudge against us since we are fire nation so why would you want to go there?

"I can't go into too much detail but it's simply in short to make friends. But do you want to train or not?"

Sure!"

"In a few weeks we'll run out of water to get more water we'll have to have bowls full of sea water and then heat it without fire, collecting the remaining precipitation and since there's an endless supply of sea water we can drink to our hearts content."

And so Lu Ten began his heat control bending where he'll try to heat up the sea water in the bowl without summoning a single flame; Lu Ten wasn't used to controlling heat as when anyone learning firebending they are taught how to conjure flames, manipulate them changing their size and power and heat control is one of the basics people learn so that they don't burn themselves but don't focus on a lot as most firebenders think about the power of their flames. Kind of like when most Cultivators focus on becoming godly strong without even setting a stable foundation. What makes the fire deadly in the end? It's the heat that it produces although they can enhance it they can't truly control it just like a man owning a tiger feeds the tiger but he can't order it.

A month passed and they reached an icy terrain and the temperature from 0 to -11 very quickly.

"Great we are finally here! Now we can begin." Kuro smirked.

"Begin what?"

"The real training! Take your top and shoes off."

"Little Bro I think you've gone mad, won't I freeze to death. What have I ever done to deserve this?"

"What? We're just training our heat control. This region will try to sap the heat from us to prevent it we'll bottle up the heat within us for constant 24 hours until we are very comfortable."

Kuro said this as he removed his top and his shoes, revealing his athletic body and then Lu Ten decided to take his shirt and shoes going along with his brother's ridiculous training plan.

"Oh and Lu Ten! We'll have to change our names because we can't have anyone knowing we are fire nation royalty."

"Okay so what will you call yourself."

"I'll be called Yami!"

"And I'll be-"

"Ryu!" Kuro interrupted him, giving his older brother a name of Ryu.

"Nah - maybe, it gives of a tone of power."

"I'm glad you like it. Now we have to look around for the village, it's not easy to find as they always once in a while because they are scared of the fire nation soldiers raiding their tribe like they do in the past."

Now the brothers started walking around the southern pole, Lu Ten was visibly shaking still not accustomed to controlling temperature to this degree.

Whilst they were searching Kuro planned together a little show for the water tribe.

After hours of searching, jumping over ice and swimming they managed to discover the water tribe's location. They found walls made from layered snow and tough they were big they were not that big and grand then any other wall ever as they were made of snow plus their cousins at the northern water tribe had larger and grander walls made from ice which is at least ten times tougher which goes to show how poor this tribe was.

They found the entrance to the tribe but they were spotted by the southern water tribe warriors guarding the entrance of the compound. They drew their weapons and were ready to strike them down but Kuro said something before they could.

"Stop! We have good intentions we are not your enemies! Let me speak with Hakoda Chief of the southern water tribe."

"And why should we! We don't even know you! Why should we trust you if there is a chance you could hurt us! So I'll have to ask you to leave in three seconds otherwise my spear will strike your heart."

"We are not fire nation! My name is Yami! And he's Ryu! We are travelling warriors that seek to stay for a while. Let us have audience with the chief!"

Kuro decided to take a risk, he snatched the warrior's spear and used it to stab himself in the shoulder but not too deep as he didn't want to injure his tendons; he bets that the waterbender their, katara's mom might heal him but that is if she isn't too suspicious like her daughter.

The guard then was slightly surprised as what Kuro did was startling, one of the guards went and decided to tell Hakoda about the visitors and so the duo of brothers were sitting in Hakdoa's house next to the table as Hakoda was sitting in front of them with his knees flat on floor like in asian households. Kya katara's mother was at the side of Kuro healing him and so the wound was healing at a visible rate.

'wow! she's actually a good waterbender without training from the northern water tribe, I assume, her talent is great if she discovered this technique on her own.'

"There you go all nice and fixed up. But please don't stab yourself with a spear next time otherwise I'll be very angry." Kya gave a serious look that indicated that she was worried.

Kya then sat next to Hakoda as he started interview them now.

"So Yami and Ryu I wonder why you have come here."

Kuro smiled before replying," We are here to simply train our martial arts, this area's harsh environment is perfect in building a stronger body. We are thinking of staying here whilst we are training as we can even provide help help for this community."

"uhuh. How long are you planning to stay?"

"Few years."

"Few - Few years...That's way too long."

"Please...please. We have to get stronger and stronger so that we can protect our family from the fire nation. I want to save my family."

"We want to make sure our family is safe and every other family is safe in this world." Lu Ten interjected.

"I say you boys have the spirit of a warrior, a true warrior protects things dear to them. I respect you and so I'll let you stay here but please do not hurt anyone. I mean it." At the last part Hakoda's eyes turned into swords as he gave of a deadly vibe warning them.

"Take them to where they'll stay." Hakoda told a warrior who waited outside the igloo house.

As the warrior passed through the wooden door, two midgets managed to get inside the house. A boy. A girl. Sokk and katara as they ran to their mother who gave them hugs and cuddles.

Kuro looked back at Kya who was hugging Katara and then within his head a flashback played back a few years ago...
