Author's Destiny in The Novel

7 Navigating the way through

Well leaving behind your legacy in your own deathbed would normally sound a bit weird. People could mistake it as trying to grave-rob someone to get their legacy. Well even if it does sound weird and evil, as long as you get one of the strongest cheats ever, its fine isn't it? Especially when that deathbed is in a separate place made by the person rupturing space itself. Who could reject something like that?

*cough*

Well, enough of that nonsense anyways. There could be said to be one downside to inheriting this power. Or should I say it'd be a downside if I was inheriting the legacy of a normal god. Once I inherit the powers of the god himself, it could be said that the only element I'd have an affinity for is Destruction. I'd even lose the powers to wield Earth. This is why I said this isn't really a downside in my case.

Why? Well, who cares about the element Earth when you have the strongest element Destruction with you? The other major downside of inheriting a gods power is that, the power you inherits gets sealed off. Obviously, you can't expect to become a god in a single day right? (I have a novel to write guys, I obviously can't make him god in 5 chaps). Normally the system people follow to get stronger is to eventually find their own "path" in the latter ranks such as [A] and higher. As mentioned before, a time must come where each person must resolutely decide their own path, thus creating their very own element or divinity.

Even Alex, while he did use the powers of the [Sovereign of Light and Darkness], was also working on creating his own path. By choosing to inherit the powers of someone who already used to be a god, I'd be cutting off my own "path". This means that I'll have no choice but to follow the "path" of the god whose powers I inherited.

This could be troublesome as there would be no hope for future development once you started to get closer to the original strength of the god. Then again, this isn't a problem for me, as the [God of Destruction] was strong enough to easily defeat 180 major gods. What this meant was his true strength was far beyond that of the others.

The [Soveriegn of Light and Darkness] could take on about 10-20 Major Gods. This showed how overpowered the [God of Destruction] really was and why I never gave Alex this overpowered "cheat". Let's take a hypothetical situation where my power growth begins to stagnate or even completely stops growing once I get to 1% of the true powers of the [God of Destruction]. Even if I only became 1% as strong as that monster, I'd still probably be slightly stronger than the [Sovereign of Light and Darkness].

This was the reason I said that the downsides themselves weren't downsides in my case. As for the absolute advantages, other than the fact that I could probably fight toe to toe against someone, one whole rank(3 subranks) above my own without falling into a disadvantage and maybe even kill them, one major advantage would be that I had to follow on a path someone had already forged for me.

It's harder to navigate in the unknown rather than to follow a road that already exists. To get stronger, all I had to do was increase my understanding of the power of "Destruction" and basically pretty much spend all my time absorbing mana into my own body.

Noticing that I had walked in pretty deep into the forest at this point, I took a look at my surroundings. I recalled that I had written that the "Spatial Rupture", as I called it was southeast, approximately 18 miles from the city gate I exit.

After a careful observation, I realized that there were absolutely no signs of life nearby. Neither could the chirping of birds be heard, nor could even insects be spotted. I tried to relax myself as I ascertained the fact that I was now in a safe zone.

I had been quite tense ever since I woke up after my Transmigration. There were two reasons for this, name the cause of my death and the reason I transmigrated into this novel. Neither of the two incidents could be said to be a common occurrence. Firstly, I died on Earth, seven floors in the sky from a truck that rammed into me mid-air! That was the normal Earth for gods sake, what was a truck doing metres high into the sky!!? Secondly, how did I even get transmigrated into this novel? I was pretty sure by this point that whoever reincarnated me in here was someone I couldn't even begin to fathom. To create a whole world simply based on a few words from a novel was not something even the Major Gods in the novel could do.

I took a deep breath as I calmed myself and shook off these thoughts for now.

"There's no point in thinking about all this, not like I can get any answers by whining anyways. Maybe if I get stronger, I might get the answers."

Suddenly, while walking through the forest, I came across a huge mountain that had obviously not been there before. Looking to my right, I noticed several trees that were bending at weird angles I didn't think were possible for trees to be in. Walking over to that part, I saw several boulders lying on the ground.

Among all these, there was a specific boulder that was eye-catching. It seemed to be faintly glowing in a bluish aura. I walked up to it, then turned towards the normal-looking boulder lying behind it. Extending my hand towards that boulder, I felt my hand pass through it as if it didn't exist in the first place at all.

"Woah..", I eeked out in astonishment as the boulder looked almost too realistic.
