An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 96 - 96: You are no better than me. (3)

Rachel left the Lee mansion saying that she had work to do and would return in the evening. Gina didn't ask much about it.

Soon, Rachel reached the hotel where her friend was staying.

"I'm waiting downstairs."

After 10 minutes, Crysta came down running in sweatpants.

"What the F*CK? After everything, you are coming to meet me now? You damned girl!"

Rachel sighed.

"Can't you speak properly?"

There were people outside the hotel. What would they think if they heard her?

"Properly your ȧss! My blood is boiling here! Come with me!"

After two-hour of interrogation,

"Holy cow! You f*cking married that guy for such a small matter?"

Rachel glared at her friend.

"It was not a small matter, okay?"

How could it be small? Her family was at risk because of her! If anything had happened then she would blame herself for the rest of her life.

"Yes, yes. I understand."

Crysta cleared her throat. Her poor friend was naive. What could she do? Sigh!

Just then her phone rang.

It was from Darren.

"Hello... Okay... I will be there in half an hour. Bye"

She cut the call and sighed heavily. .

"What's wrong?" Crysta asked worriedly.

"I... I should meet Darren today."

"Why?"

"I owe him an explanation."

"You... sigh, be careful."

"Okay."

After a while, Rachel left the cafe. She had not driven a car so she had to take a taxi. It was already afternoon when she reached the restaurant.

She went inside and saw Darren who was sitting at the widow-side table. Taking a deep breath, she reached the table.

"Hey,"

"Hey, have a seat." Darren gestured to her to sit.

Wow, that was awkward as hell!

They both ordered and sat there without speaking anything. Rachel decided to speak first.

"Actually-"

"Let's eat first, okay?"

Darren interrupted Rachel before she could start. Soon the dishes were served. Without any other option, she started to eat.

With a few words here and there, two hours passed just like that.

Rachel excused herself to go to the restroom. It was too stressful to sit in front of Darren.

A few tables apart, a person who was filling his stomach happily stopped eating.

After speaking to the client, Aaron came back to his chamber. With much anticipation, he unlocked his phone. But to his dismay, there were zero notifications.

He called the same familiar number. But the other party ended the call!

Oh, the damned girl had some guts!

"Who cares? Huh!"

He threw the phone on the table and sat on the nearby sofa.

Just after five minutes, his phone rang.

Boom!

A certain someone who was not 'caring', dashed out to check his phone.

[Author: ... Sigh!]

"Hello,"

"Boss!"

"..." The call ended.

His phone rang again.

"Hello, boss! It's me, I-"

The line went dead again.

"..."

The person on the other end was fuming mad.

"What the hell? Huh, as if I care! But... But I have to share this! Dammit!"

Mark redialled to his so-called boss.

"Rachel, it's about Rachel."

"..." Mark held his breath and waited. The call didn't end. Good sign!

"What is it?"

See? He just knew his boss very well!

"Boss, I just saw Ms. Rachel in the restaurant with that guy, Darren."

He was in the same restaurant. There, he saw her when she stood up to go to the restroom. He almost puked everything when he saw who she was with.

Good god!

"Send location."

And the call ended.

Aaron took his suit jacket and walked out of his office. Sarah, who was about to enter, got startled. She steadied herself and spoke.

"Mr.Lee, the client is waiting for you. If you confirm-"

"Give him an appointment tomorrow."

"Okay."

He drove his car as he always liked to drive on his own. On the way, he dialled Rachel's number but the call was cut again.

He hit the steering hard with his hand. Within half an hour, he reached the restaurant. He spotted Darren who was sitting near the window-side table.

He was about to enter the restaurant but stopped as he saw Rachel walking towards the same table. Seeing her sitting so casually in front of Darren made his blood boil.

He clenched his teeth in anger. All he wanted to do was to go to them and give Darren nice beatings. He wanted to smash his shitty face for having the guts to ask Rachel out. How dare!

But still, he controlled his anger. He then decided not to go inside.

After taking a few deep breaths, he went back to his car. He just waited outside the restaurant patiently.

He could see them clearly as they had chosen a window-side table. They were having some juice and he saw Darren taking a tissue to wipe Rachel's lips.

"Huh, f*ck this guy!"

Aaron cursed loudly and hit the poor steering again. He tugged at his tie in frustration.

After forty-five minutes, he saw them coming out. He could see Darren offering Rachel to drop but Rachel declined and went alone.

That made Aaron breathe a little.

He was about to drive away but his phone rang.
