An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 88 - 88: Home is where your husband is. (5)

Shatter!

A remote flew towards the television and broke it into pieces.

Splash!

The aquarium broke, spilling all the water onto the ground. The golden fishes that were inside the glass, fell on the ground, flapping their fins.

This continued for a good few minutes, breaking the items onto the ground.

"Are you done?"

Darren was breathing hard with rage. His face had turned bright red and blue veins were popping out.

His father was standing in the corner of the hall, watching his son going nuts. He waited patiently for him to let his vexation out.

Earlier, they had seen the live press meet that had caught them off guard. They had never imagined Rachel to do such a bizarre thing after getting engaged to their son.

It was a great amount of humiliation for their family.

"Son, don't you worry. They have degraded our family without an ounce of shame. They can do as they wish just because they are rich? Huh, they have underestimated us. I will make them pay for all their sins! Just forget that filthy b*tch!"

He stormed away, leaving Darren alone in the hall. His mother didn't have a say in the family, to begin with. All she could do was sigh.

Her husband had always acted like upfront and decent person but in reality, he was worse. He had agreed for the marriage only for the sake of money.

Colins have always been rich with a great family business and assets, to begin with. Of course, her greedy husband and son were elated to make a bond with them.

But now that their plan got backfired, they were blaming them!

Sigh!

She went inside, ignoring the mess.

Darren gritted his teeth as he recalled the press meet.

'What, they were married a week before? Huh, bullsh*t!'

He was damn sure it was a trick to make others believe them.

But, what drove him crazy was that he couldn't prove them wrong!

He had photos and people who attended as proof to confirm that he was engaged to Rachel but he couldn't disclose them.

If he did, then his family's reputation will be dragged to mud. His father would never agree to it.

Also, that could make it impossible for him to win Rachel over. He had lost his chance back then and now, the history had repeated.

He had let her go back then because he didn't have a single chance in front of Eric but, this time, it was different.

He would do anything to get her back.

He wanted her!

A look of determination filled his eyes and a sly smile broke.

_

Rachel's phone rang, making her return back to the presence. She glanced at the screen and guilt came rushing to her.

It was from Darren.

She stole a glance at Aaron who was currently busy driving. Now, they were heading to their 'home' which she was yet to know the place.

He had not given her a chance to retaliate at his suggestion to go with him. She had said that she could stay with her friend Crysta for now but the man had straightforwardly rejected the idea by saying,

"No, you are coming with me. If not, I wouldn't mind kidnapping you."

She chose to follow him in the end. After all, he had helped her so much!

He had risked his reputation to save her by marrying without giving a second thought. It was her time to return the favor by following his words.

"I know I'm handsome but, aren't you answering the call?"

Rachel's body shook when she heard his voice. She turned her head in embarrassment as she was caught watching his face. She was lost in her thoughts again!

She scoffed at his comment.

'Narcissist!'

Just as she was about to pick up the phone, it stopped ringing. But soon after, it started again.

Her hand was shaking as she held the phone like a bomb. She knew she had to pick it up but her hands were not cooperating at all!

She knew she should speak to him and explain the situation and apologize to him.

She owed him that much.

After taking a few seconds to calm her heart, she picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

There was no sound from the other side of the phone. She frowned in confusion and removed the phone from her ear to check if the call had ended.

But it was not.

"Hello? Darren?"

She was about to cut the call off but suddenly his voice was heard from the other side.

"Why did you do it?"

Darren went straight to the point.

Rachel's body stiffened.

Her back started to sweat.

"Actually… I… well-"

"You owe me an explanation, don't you think so?"

His voice was no more soft and sweet towards her like before. It was full of resentment and anger.

She gulped down a mouthful of saliva before speaking.
